hmmm. Marine is such a weird unit sometimes, early game, they get wrecked vs drones. But late game, 2 marines can stim into those often naked zerg expo and kill off all the drones in the expo. A little light on turrets, but at the same time, they did job zoning away from scvs, also, anchor a rally point for the marines popping from rax. Marines kept a nice tight formation for the most part, didn't over stim, man when I think about it, the title really does too good a job describing this feeling. I'm clutching at ideas to even deal with that location. does bunker do anything for zoning that stupid choke area between nat and main? it's more expensive and needs to be manned, but that full group of muta feels so difficult to crack unless you get godlike luck repeatedly targeting wounded muta and whittle down flock, vs bruising flock. never really felt like scan was taking lethal damage until lings slipped in. Is that where the matchup needs to go vs Mitty allin? turrets don't scare, and even tho bunkers attack different targets, might be the only way to have enough bulk to stay long enough for rallying marines. but clogs up narrowed space between bases. Just weird why sometimes turrets can and can't keep mutas away. photon cannon doing normal but dragoon doing explosive, turret doing explosive is T_T. I guess making it normal would impinge on that Marine AA role too much. whereas cannon to make up for goon AA weakness.

Valkyries when controlled well can counter mass muta

@@dj_koen1265 ya, unfortunately, valks don't seem to be so great, it's almost an immediate trigger to begin lurker aspect. it's not a bad idea, but also a wide area for scourge to snipe valks before dangerous count, but also they impinge on more stable vessel play. but I had a Flash of inspiration, perhaps what's needed is floating building and a small cache of hold pos unit beneath. while vulnerable to the minute glaives damage (here's where +1 armor is situationally valuable). the difference from a bunker is that it has a smaller collision footprint, but most importantly, marines will be able to focus the same muta, unlike bunker that splits damage uniformly as available, even changing targets as new ones become available.

@@Shield_Battery valks are pretty good though, and if the zerg stops making mutalisks you can use them to scout and kill overlords like you would use corsair i think they are underrated

@@dj_koen1265 Don't get me wrong, I LIKE THEM, especially since the patch to ALLOW TO WORK PROPERLY, lol... but reality is it's a YMMV unit based on opponent playstyle, and something easily avoidable by transitioning into hydra/lurker/defiler tech earlier. Most importantly, unlike a corsair, they really can't go around sniping overlords, because of the approx 2.5 seconds of immobility. That window allows scourge snipes, or muta stack to get on top and moveshot. Clever Zerg snag "scouting" valk(s) with "free" ovie bait quite often. But stay tuned, maybe there's a way to FORCE valk play back into meta, similar to a 2gate corsair open, securing air superiority for a tempo-based timing attack. Plenty of room on the couch with me waiting for it to cycle around again 🙂

almost everything they added in brood war were to counter mutas. Valks, corsairs, medics. and even then mutas are still arguably the best units in the game lol

there is no reason to nerf anything for zerg against terran when tvz winrate >50%. you cant justify nerfing every unit that looks strong.

I've been thinking that you could make them medium size. Almost every anti-air unit aside from the marine and photon cannon does explosive damage (turret, goliath, wraith, valk, dragoon, corsair, even hydras) which only does half to small units. And it doesn't really make sense for them to be small, they're way bigger than scourge and observers.
