"The way your house is positioned is more important than how big your lot is." THIS. My last place had bedroom and living room windows that faced west and the sun came in like a laser during the hottest part of the day and well into the evenings during the summers. I had to get black out curtains to keep the temperatures down in the afternoons. Now I'm in a place where my bedroom windows face north and the difference is huge. I don't need a big lot, I need windows that don't look directly into my neighbor's and that don't have the sun on them most of the day.

Great questions, great show, as always. Deed restrictions, I cannot imagine what The Villages would be like if there were not deed restrictions. Sure, in general folks, don’t like to be restricted. But it’s not hard to understand the purpose of these restrictions, and what they mean to maintaining the integrity of The Villages and the values of our properties. I know that my neighbors are happy we have them. I have always wanted to have a blaze orange house that matches my hunting gear. But I’ve yet to live somewhere I can do that. Thanks for the video. Questions for you all, it seems a common topics is about the crowds/increased congestion during snowbird season. Can you give some more context around this? For example people say restaurant reservations are hard to get, but what time frames are people talking about? 4pm 5pm, 6pm 7pm? The same question regarding executive golf? Do you have any insight into the clubs vs enrichment programs? Using a "craft" focused club like photograph or painting as an example, I'm guessing the "craft" enrichment programs offer a common expectation of class instruction. Do the clubs do similar class instruction?

It would be neighborly to talk to your neighbors about an issue before running & talleling to the ARC. Also, never trust your contractors for permits, etc…they are crooked about that in any part of the country.
@MyJohnDen7 ай бұрын
Talk about sugar coated!!!!!
@allisonm68907 ай бұрын
Regarding Wayne and Brenda’s comments: Two things struck me - They have/had a neighbor that had an issue with their backyard landscaping project that wasn’t approved by the ARC. He indicated that he wanted the neighbor to approach him directly but shouldn’t they have ensured their contractor had the approval from the ARC first? It is ultimately the responsibility of the homeowner to have ARC approval and not rely on slick sales practices. Anonymity promotes reporting and rule following. If he’d gotten approval first, the issue would not have progressed. Rules for thee - not for me! Shame on him for agreeing to the rules upon the closing of his home and following them only when convenient. He wants only neighbors within the community to confront neighbors with potential violations directly? That would probably cause the motto of The Villages to change to from „Florida‘s Friendliest Hometown“ immediately. Just follow the rules, policies and procedures you agreed to. If you see a violation, you make the choice to report it or not. It seems simple to me. Also, I love how the full time residents blame the snow-birds for traffic and the snow-birds blame the renters. What‘s next - renters blaming Lifestyle Visitors and them blaming locals? Jerry and Linda, my husband and I enjoy your content so much, we’ve been subscribers and regular viewers for a long time - we can’t wait to see you when we get there!
@JERRYANDLINDA7 ай бұрын
You make some good points but I'm not sure you understood that when they bought the home that was already there. A real estate agent listed the home and a different real estate agent sold them the home and no one told them that that was out of compliance. When you have so many things to do and on your mind and to check and to recheck sometimes it slips by. This very topic is up for huge debate in the villages right now. There are many properties that were not in compliance but sold by villages agents. Many feel the agents should have known the home was out of compliance and told the prospective buyers.
@allisonm68907 ай бұрын
Thank you for your reply! As always, you make an excellent point! I agree. The resale homes should probably be certified as deed compliant by the ARC prior to resale and disclosed by Realtors. There’s a fix for every issue, this is not only way to address that situation, just one off the top of my head. THIS IS WHY WE LOVE YOUR CONTENT! You provide thoughtful, insightful and respectful interaction and clarification. I don’t normally make comments, thanks for taking the time to respond. I hope Wayne and Brenda‘s issue has been settled with no hard feelings and minimal cost (if any).

I enjoy watching your channel but there are many reasons we won’t move to Florida barring unexpected circumstances . As far as the Villages go one of the things we wouldn’t care for are the deed restrictions. We don’t mind if our neighbors have pink flamingos in their yard or RVs in there driveway. In return we don’t want to be told what to do in our yard either. Of course the risk of that is you do occasionally have people with cars on block. We had one neighbor who tried to put in a native landscape. It turned into a weed patch. They eventually went back to grass but for awhile some of neighbors were getting a little upset.😂

Let me get this straight Wisconsin couple: you don't get ARC approval and neither does your landscaper and it's your neighbor's fault you had to redo it to ARC?😅😅 And you like ARC for house colors...shesh😂 Time to apologize to your neighbor for blaming them for your lack of responsibility!!!😮
@JERRYANDLINDA7 ай бұрын
Maybe you should watch it again and then you might consider apologizing to the couple from Wisconsin.
@rea87557 ай бұрын
Bothered by neighbors? 1."Absolutely"... 2. Landscaper said he would get "ARC approval and he never did" (Guessing Homeowner couldn't check up approval like neighbor did😅!🎉 3. "So, it had to get torn up to some degree, all due to our neighbor behind us". 3A) It got redone according to ARC😂 not neighbor. 3B) perhaps landscaper encroached on neighbors property then got snippy with said neighbor who then called ARC🎉. Therefore, I still stand by the my statement the Tomahawk, Wisconsin people should apologize/ mea culpa / forgive and forget. Life is to short! Soooo, what did I miss? Ps not salty when facty!
