Hey does anyone think that paintings should work more like music disc's? Like in how we find individual ones throughout the world, maybe this could alow the craftable painting to be something the player can customize while we could find the other paintings placed in structures or something. This comes to mind because if we are going to get new paintings I personally don't want to just instantly have them, people put work into that art and I want to put work into finding it you know, maybe I'm just crazy.

I think it would be nice to have woodland mansion type rare structures for other biomes. A badass mountain keep in the snow biomes, bigger temple structures for the desert and jungle with appropriate variations of themed mobs that are more difficult. Put the new paintings and the new enchanted book disperment in the new structures. Maybe a whole magical witch village in the swamps. Themed rare loot in the structures. People like collecting cool stuff for their trophy rooms =)

totally agree with this; but since 1.16 when the nether became way more fun was followed by caves and cliffs in 1.17 which focused n the overworld and... while excited for 1.21... *everything* has been focused on the overworld... we can chill on the overworld for a bit IMO. *PLEASE* do the nether update but for the end next tho. even with scope creep and the statements for mojang employees that 1.16 pace was not sustainable... if they're realistic up front that like - the next 2 updates are going to fix the end, and will be followed by a kinda boring one that address tech debt & performance... i don't think a single person would be mad... especially with the addition of trial chambers - the end needing an update is the biggest issue with the game - inventory management non-withstanding - and updating the end also introduces the opportunity to at least start dealing with the inventory issue as it's the source of both ender chests and shulkers - the only thing that keeping inventory problem from actually hurting the game. To the point though - i love your idea - but the end and inventory need addressed first or the game will feel... bad like the better the overworld and nether get the more the end feels like a complicated chore to get wings and steal a shulker for a farm / get boxes - the end already feels bad... and the inventory thing... like i get that given the majority of the player base still has never beat the dragon factors into this - it's a "power user" complaint; anyone who complains about the inventory being broken also has like a shulker/ender chest system like etho's - but honestly thats being pushed to it's limit at this point with block additions- what do i have to get rid of to be able to add a copper blocks, froglights, and decorative mud's shulker box to my ender chest.. which - i feel like annoyances with inventory extend even to casual players... just less acute - but still notice like... heck stardew valley handles this better why is it so clunky? the end and inventory need fixed before anything else imo...

Agreed. The end has not had any real updates. I started on Xbox 1 version and just got bedrock on my PC just over a year ago. Everything else was updated and the end was basically the same save for the new crackhead enderman. New rare structures, bosses and end specific mobs/biomes should be high on the to-do list. If I could put shulkers in shulkers that would solve my inventory problems lol

I’m looking forward to 1.21. The Trial Chambers look like an interesting challenge for the part of me that is a little bored with current mob combat. The collector in me is interested in the new Armor Trims, Pottery Shards, and getting a Heavy Core. The builder part of me is really excited for the new Tuff variants (I plan on building The Colosseum with them), and the technical part of me is excited about the Crafter. The update touches a lot of different facets of the game and I think that is one of the best indicators of a good update.

Fr, the new copper and tuff blocks are one of the BEST looking blocks in the game, and trial chambers serve as more then just a random structure you can find too! In a experimental world I have, I built my house under a chamber and have a railway system that goes down, that way I can get pretty much infinite copper and wind charges too!

I really hope that Mojang one day makes a huge update but never releases snapshots for it so that it’s a complete surprise when you update your game. I'm guessing the reason we don't have a use for the fletching table is simply because there is no obvious use to give it. For tipped arrows, I much prefer Bedrock's method of dipping them in a potion filled cauldron. As for upgraded arrows, perhaps with a diamond head or a blaze rod shaft, there isn't really a need for them since bow enchantments already act as an upgrade.

9:33 I’m pretty sure the reason why they added tuff blocks now is cause it’s almost a form of obliteration to have 1 or 2 new set of rock or wood blocks per update (for example: 1.16’s 2 new wood types and blackstone) So they had the idea of tuff blocks for a long time but didn’t want to add it cause it’s just on a list of blocks they can turn into a set for a future update to fill out an update. I think the idea Mojang just came up with tuff stairs, slabs, etc is a silly conclusion to each.
@Warlock8ZERO
@Warlock8ZERO Ай бұрын
This is probably mostly true, as blocks are the most visual thing in an update, they are basically what represents what the update is about. Would say this for tuff specificly, since they were adding deeper caves, they needed some way for the players to tell they are getting deeper underground, otherwise it's just like being at any other Y level and the update would seem like it added very little. So they somewhat needed to add tuff and deepslate, just to make the Y level increase seem more obvious, but neglected every other purpose those blocks should have, like tuff and deepslate having zero use in crafting.
@CatWithALime

The PROBLEM with Java Hardcore is that _if_ you have the option to make it easier, you will be tempted to use them instead of doing it the honest way. Just having the ability to turn on LAN mode and get access to commands brings into question the validity of a hardcore run... ESPECIALLY online, where KZbinrs will fake hardcore runs frequently just for the sake of views. Hardcore is _supposed_ to be hard. No take backsies!

For people upset about the discrepancy between Java and Bedrock combat, I argue that they're relatively balanced. Here's an overview Java: There is a cooldown between attacks. Wood and gold tools deal the same damage. Sweeping Edge/Cleave exist. Regeneration from food is considerably fast. A steak can be just as effective as a golden apple, in terms of regeneration. Swords have 4/5/6/4/7/8 base damage Axes have 7/9/9/7/9/10 base damage. Pickaxes have 2/3/4/2/5/6 base damage. Shovels deal 2.5/3.5/4.5/2.5/5.5/6.5 base damage. Hoes always deal 1 base damage, but attack speed increases with material rarity. Tridents deal 9 base damage in melee and 8 base damage when thrown. Axes break through a shield's guard. The Sharpness enchantment follows a _(0.5x) + 0.5_ formula, wherein x is the level of enchantment. Progressively, Sharpness will add 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 damage to whatever sword or axe it is applied on. (A netherite Sharpness V sword will deal 11 damage). The Impaling enchantment follows a _2.5x_ formula, wherein x is the level of enchantment. Progressively, Impaling will add 2.5/5/7.5/10/12.5 damage on any trident it is applied to. (An Impaling V trident will deal 21.5 damage in melee). Impaling only works on aquatic creatures, and Drowned are not counted as aquatic creatures. The Wither has 300 HP. The Wither is relatively slow. The Wither does not turn off the sun upon spawning in. Undead mobs will still burn in sunlight, excluding the Wither itself. The Wither becomes immune to arrows in phase 2. The Wither does not spawn 3-4 wither skeletons upon entering phase 2. The Wither dies not have access to a dash attack. Bedrock: Cooldowns do not exist. Wood and gold tools do the same damage. Sweeping Edge/Cleave does not exist. Regeneration from food is absurdly slow. A steak will only reliably heal you to full health if you're somewhere safe and have a few of them. Swords deal 5/6/7/5/8/9 base damage. Axes deal 4/5/6/5/7/8 base damage. Pickaxes deal 3/4/5/3/6/7 base damage. Shovels deal 2/3/4/2/5/6 base damage. Hoes deal 3/4/5/3/6/7 base damage. Tridents deal 9 base damage in melee, and 8 base damage when thrown. Axes cause armor and shields to degrade faster. The Sharpness enchantment follows a _1.25x_ formula, wherein x is the level of enchantment. Progressively, Sharpness will add 1.25/2.5/3.75/5.0/6.25 damage to whatever sword or axe it is applied on. (A netherite Sharpness V sword will deal 15.25 damage). The Impaling enchantment follows a _2.5x_ formula, wherein x is the level of enchantment. Progressively, Impaling will add 2.5/5/7.5/10/12.5 damage on any trident it is applied to. (An Impaling V trident will deal 21.5 damage in melee). Impaling works on any target that is considered "wet." A mob (or player) is considered "wet" if they're in any contact with water or rain. The Wither has 600 HP. The Wither has a fast flying speed. Upon spawning in, the Wither deactivates the sun. Undead mobs will not burn in sunlight. The Wither becomes immune to arrows in phase 2. The Wither spawns 3-4 wither skeletons upon entering phase 2, if on Normal or Hard mode. The Wither has access to a dash attack that deals 15 damage and destroys any block that is hit, excluding bedrock. Conclusions: Java weapons are slower, but with Sweeping Edge/Cleaving, they can hit multiple enemies. Java has considerably better healing. For both Bedrock and Java, wood and gold tools deal identical damage. Gold sucks. All swords and pickaxes deal +1 base damage in Bedrock edition. In Bedrock edition, hoes have identical base damage to pickaxes. Shovels deal -0.5 base damage in Bedrock edition. Axes deal considerably more damage in Java. Axes are better for bypassing shields in Java, but are better at breaking defenses in Bedrock. Tridents deal identical base damage across both versions. Sharpness is considerably more powerful in Bedrock. Sharpness V swords will deal at least 50% more damage in the Bedrock edition than in Java edition, and although axes have considerably higher base damage in Java, a Sharpness IV or Sharpness V netherite axe will deal slightly more damage on Bedrock (13 v 14.5). Impaling damage itself is identical between Bedrock and Java, but it's considerably more useful on Bedrock, as it'll work on any mob in contact with rain or water. With a crit, an Impaling V trident can even one-shot a player in full (unenchanted) Netherite armor on Bedrock edition. Beacons are considerably harder to obtain on Bedrock. After 1.21 releases, most Bedrock players will exclusively use the Mace to fight the Wither. Finale: Bedrock has slower healing, less area damage, and a much harder Wither fight. However, Bedrock also has a considerably higher damage ceiling; everything is just _more_ effective. Bedrock seems more tailored for a PvE experience. Java seems more well-suited for a PvP experience.
@tapgames3465
@tapgames3465 Ай бұрын
I thought it's usually the opposite. Java combat is better for PvE as the enemies are weaker + usually a slower fight while Bedrock combat is better for PvP as people fight much quicker rather than the slow paced combat Java has
@khajiitimanus7432
@khajiitimanus7432 Ай бұрын
@@tapgames3465 You misconstrue ease with experience. Bedrock offers a better PvE experience because it gives a more complex, difficult experience. It offers higher challenge, and more intrinsic reward; a higher emphasis on survival. The higher damage and slower healing makes everything in Bedrock more... adrenaline filled. Plus, since axes are more about breaking equipment in Bedrock edition, they have some PvE applications too. Java offers better PvP experience because it is more convenient. Things deal less damage, PvP is less decisive. Axes make it more strategic. It's a little bit less instantaneous, more drawn out - personally, I crave longer fights in PvP. Plus, Java has more (and better) multiplayer servers than Bedrock. Java is, overall, better for multiplayer. PvP is a part of that. That isn't to say they don't have their merits for the other. Bedrock's trident viability completely reworks PvP, makes water and storm battles far more terrifying. It's something completely different from Java, and it's fascinating. Meanwhile, while I don't exclusively refer to PvE as single-player, as co-op is a part of PvE... Java's easier PvE does make solo grinds considerably easier. In general, the resource and growth aspects are quite a bit faster - but that also makes it easier to set-up some PvP. Because Java is easer, PvP is more... convenient? Accessible? Maybe even preferable? Anyway, yeah, you have some valid points. Still, I think of Bedrock as better optimized for a PvE experience, and Java as better optimized for a PvP experience. To me, higher PvE difficulty translates to higher PvE enjoyment.

It would be cool if each elemental creature-thing had their own methods of combat and sets of rods etc I'm really interested in how they are going to pull off adding more elemental creature-things. I've noticed updates have focused on less concrete things since 1.16. caves & cliffs was focused on generation, wild update was focused on being more "wild", and tales and trails was more story telling. 1.21 has just became the trail chambers update and isn't focused on such a broad concept. Mostly everything in the update is related to this one structure. Only feature that isn't is the crafter. Having more time to focus on a single thing makes this update feel bigger than it actually is.

I used to watch your videos because I was into Minecraft when I was younger, but eventually I just fell out of being interested in the game because I'm not usually that interested in games that primarily revolve around a self-determined gameplay loop. (I tend to like narrative-driven games more) I used to be really into Minecraft because of the social element, and I think the last time a Minecraft update got me actually excited was the Nether update because it added more endgame content. (I had been wanting a Nether update for a while even back when people were clamouring for a cave update) I do not play Minecraft anymore, but I still watch your videos because I find your perspective refreshing as someone who does still enjoy the game, but takes a critical perspective. I thought your analysis of the new Notch game was quite interesting because while I do not like his personality or politics, I do think Minecraft had more intrigue as a game back when it was being developed by a smaller indie team and most of the creative vision came from one person as opposed to a large team that is succeptible to "analysis paralysis." I think part of why I lost interest in Minecraft has to do with the way the Microsoft-led Mojang has approached their community outreach and content updates. I do not think that the snapshot/yearly update model works in the context of Minecraft in the modern day as a game being developed by a massive team for Microsoft. I understand they want to keep the game alive by having yearly updates, but I think the negative reactions has mostly damaged the reputation of the game, and a more infrequent update release schedule that is limited to one massive update every 3-4 years would be healthier for the game as well as keeping more of the content in the update behind closed doors until the release of the update to generate hype. If one thing is clear, it's that people are usually more grateful if they get something they weren't expecting. (As you mention with the example of the mace) Also, the design approach to the updates just feels too risk-averse. I understand they have a massive existing fanbase, but I also feel like if they keep promoting Minecraft as an "active" game (as in it's still receiving new updates like Fortnite and not a game that releases in one state and later gets sequels), then I feel like they need to take steps to entice new generations of players. Otherwise, I could come back to Minecraft 5 years later and the game will mostly be the same besides a few cool new things. It's nice that you can have something to come back to, but especially for a game like Minecraft that derives its design from player creativity, it feels, to put it bluntly, kind of boring. I'm going to make the comparison to Terraria not because Minecraft and Terraria are both survival games because they clearly have many gameplay differences; I am making the comparison because both games started out as runaway indie successes that continued to receive updates and community support in the decade following. I think that Terraria's approach to community outreach is much better in the way that it positively reinforces community involvement whilst also keeping some mystery in store for the next update. If you're not informed, take a look at the way they've been hyping up the next update by implementing fan-requested quality-of-life features and dropping spoilers. Of course with Minecraft they have the problem of being restricted by corporate ties at Microsoft and having to deal with multiple versions, but it seems like every decision Mojang makes seems to piss people off as opposed to developers like Re-Logic who maintain good PR. Great content as always, cheers.

Hey! First of all, thank you for responding to my comment! (also already in comment form) I understand your point, but I'm still a big fan of customization. Maybe people want to make hardcore even harder than it already is, or maybe a little easier to have a challenge but toned down a bit here and there. Regarding "tinkering", many people forget that, at least for Java, some new things were made possible with commands and datapacks, which I would add to the tinkering aspect. It's just a shame that it won't be available on Bedrock (at least not yet). There definitely needs to be a little more parity here!

Really don't think they could add the fletching table right now, after the inventory uproar. If you have a fletching table, it would make sense to be able to craft multple types of arrows which would take up way too much inventory space. You would need some kind of quiver to solve this problem, but after the issues with the bundle, it really doesn't seem like they are competant enough to implement it.

I think Mojang's philosophy with block variants is actually great for the game in the long run and prevents item bloat. People will always be asking for variations of every single block in the game, so if they listened to every single plea we would quickly end up in a place where every block in the game has a million variations and there is no asymmetry between block types. There is no obvious stopping point where they could say "we gave every block all the variations they need". Instead saying "we will add new block types when we have places to put them" I think works out much better for the game's longevity and ensures a wide variety of blocks are used throughout the game's many structures while also ensuring that we do get new variations to blocks every once in while. This isn't even a particularly new thing when you consider that stone brick was only added because of strongholds.

It really feels like Mojang is focused on making "the next big update" rather than actually updating the game. Things like the fetching table being useless I can tolerate, but other features like villages and enchanting being left in the state that they are is what upsets me. Villages are very unbalanced, but instead of fixing them Mojang just moved on to the next update. Any other development studio would have continued updating a problematic feature until it's fixed, but Mojang just leaves features in bad states for years on end. Enchanting and tools in general show how bad this issue can get. Am I supposed to spend hours upgrading to netherite, fully enchanting, and personalizing with unique armor trims? or am I supposed to be content when those tools crumble away when it's durability reaches zero? The anvil thinks so. Minecraft is in desperate need of an update to it's core features, but "we finally balanced the game" isn't a very marketable update, so it doesn't happen.

what really ruffles my non-existent feathers is not that raytracing hasn't come to console yet, or that combat still hasn't been touched, or that minecraft on switch runs like an 89 year old retired woman, it's that 6 years ago we were told they were redesigning minecraft bedrock's (awful) menus, and 6 years later we are left with a mess of pocket edition ui mixed with new ui that has been slapped on top of the old ui, and these new ui elements *still* don't work well in combination with controllers, mice and touch!!!!! i'm a firm believer that art takes time and i'd rather they took 10 years to make an incredible ui than take 1 year and it be a mess, but it's been 6 years and the ui just isn't it. i could rant for hours about how the ui just doesn't work for controllers, when i cycle through the options on the left of the create world screen, it should just cycle through them, i shouldn't have to press A, then press right on every option just to access each sub-menu, it's a functionally bad menu for controllers, and doesn't even fix the issues with the old pocket ui. even the title screen is a mess, why on god's square earth can't they make the menu a list going "play, settings, marketplace, dressing room, achievements" without having to press left or right and not knowing which button will take you back to the main list. the feedback button shouldn't be on the main menu and the inbox button should be moved somewhere else (like the new profiles on the beta) and then on top of the ui being a controller nightmare, there's also the fact that the ui is just unreliable. there's always a new ui bug, there's always a delay when you click an option, and in this video alone i could see issues where ui elements were overlapping incorrectly, so for every amazing thing minecraft does for accessibility (subtitles, narrator, text background opacity, etc) it always feels bittersweet that the actual core ui has been stuck in a mess for 7 years, and that it's clear that the new ui won't fix the core issues. it's a shame that the biggest game of all time can't have a ui that's easy to use, consistent, and reliable. we will get big salmon on java before bedrock's ui serves controller users any justice

the big problem with addons is that because they cant be too good or improve on anything in the game or any planned features, so many features (especially quality of life features) which we desperately need that unrestricted modding on java can solve completely immediately on bedrock we just have to wait for it to be officially introduced. For example, shaders, solutions to the inventory problem, a tool which rotates blocks, any revamp of a feature, any revamp of a biome (e.g. the end), health bars, and so much more. Instead, addons have to be separated from any meaningful parts of the game, which while many can be cool, they can only add features, not make existing features better, which makes them feel much more like something thats cool for 10 minutes before you regret spending momey on it rather than something which will improve your gameplay expierence forever. Also, i doubt theyll allow an addon which adds the moobloom (and the rest of the mob vote mobs). Hopefully they do lay back on their restrictions, and start allowing the community to work with them on the “base” of the game too.

I think Mojang is trying to pace out the work they're *allowed* to do, whereas if they were allowed by Microsoft to do whatever they wanted then they could add all the features much sooner because then they could keep pumping out jam-packed features. They are trying to keep their jobs by milking the updates very slowly rather than very quickly and then running out of ideas they are allowed to make.
