I always start an iron farm in a village. I make a trading hall in the village. Every time. New base, in current world, has a large "village". I made a trading hall 5 stories with one profession each, except the cartographers, have two on the Mason floor. This caused Iron golems to spawn in a specific area. Not far from the original bell. That's where I made the Golem collector.

For those building this, I ran about roughly 8 hour test and got around 525 iron/hour. That is with an assortment of villagers on the bottom, and all librarians on the top. After thinking about it for awhile, I came to the conclusion that the lower rates were attributed to the librarians sleeping at night which probably cut the hourly production of the top half in half. Point is, if you’re going to build it expecting 700-800. Use villagers that don’t have to sleep such as fletchers for all of them.

An important note if you zombify and then cure your villagers after they are linked to the work station: They will not always link back to the same work station after being cured. You will need to basically free them all from their spaces and then let them find the new work station that they are linked to, otherwise they will not refill their trades.

If they can't reach their job block after they've been traded with to lock in their trades they'll do the same thing they do with beds and just unlink and relink to a different block until they link to one they CAN reach, it'll just take a WHILE if you have a lot of villagers, (took 9 hours for my 100 villager trading hall to all relink on their own)

Having more than 2 golems spawning on a single farm actually slows down the farm, and you don't need water under the villagers anymore, I recommend building it with the beds above the spawning platform ans the trading hall above the beds, use glass for the floor. I average 7 stacks of iron an hour.

So I built it , and let me say , it's legit.. if you sit about mid way between the two iron farms . I'd say plus or minus 10 blocks from center. It still works , and if you AFK for an hour or so, you got about 12 stacks of iron , I used smithing tables and blast furnaces for the bottom and librarians and a few more blast furnaces up on the top trade center.. with a few rounds of selling iron to them.. fully enchanted diamond armor, fully enchanted diamond tools, access to bookshelves, lanterns, glass, enchanted books like looting II , etc. What a great build

I built the bottom part of the farm and based on "build the top at least 76 blocks away" i built an afk room 40 blocks up thinking doing 80 would make sense but the bottom farm doesnt seem to work 40 blocks up. Any idea why? did some testing. A few notes from the video: 1) OP is 100% wrong about cats having 0 effect on the farm. Last night there were so many cats from the 2 farms the golems stopped being able to get hit by lava, do some testing before making bold statements OP 2) if your farm stops producing golems, go hang out NEAR your villagers. I found that you had to get an iron farm going before youd move to the afk spot 3) now to the afk spot. we found that you had to build veeeeeery precisely between the 2 farms. I did it ~80 blocks apart and only found one floor between the 2 farms where spawning works. Stick to ~76(or 77 for safety) blocks from first beds to 2nd beds and build your afk spot in the middle of that(~38 blocks up). you might have to do some more testing, this is just what i found in a day of running the farm one last post edit update just in case this info has any value: I dont think the 2nd floor is designed properly. The squids get stuck in the water shoot, SEEMS to cause loot to get stuck(purely observation no testing at this point). Personally if i could go back(whcih i may go fix later) on the 2nd floor id build a camp fire+hopper system similar to the first floor and have the hopper drop to a water shoot like he designed, that way you are sure the loots getting to the water properly

Good. You have a fourth discount. Killing a zombie villager in the area. You don't have to kill it yourself. You can stack each of the discounts but only one time. Now supposedly you can make the 2nd village then move them to the 1st village in order to use the golem spawn area for both villages.

Make sure you finish the first layer of villagers completely and enclose them before starting on the top layer of villagers. If you don't then the villagers will link up to the beds on the second layer and the whole farm will be ruined until you fix the villagers

amazing farm, loads of iron, and villagers are incredibly easy to set up! I recommend putting the villagers into the villager box one at a time , THEN place the workstation, that way its really easy! My rates as of 1.20 were 880 iron per hour

Yeah, i made a trading hall in one long hallway with 100 villagers so i could have ALL THE TRADES, and decided to just shove in an iron farm above it cuz it was spawning golems faster than i could kill them when i was trying to spawn proof the floor in the middle after i realised that i had forgot to do that. Works well, i get 3-4 golems every 15-20 seconds, this definitely seems more reliable for doing it on purpose instead of on accident like i did

Thats what he said will happen 1 golem for every 10 villagers so if you have 30 villagers a max of 3 golems at a time can exist

If you're having issues with just cats spawning then this is purely down to villagers unlinking from their workstations. Common issue with iron farms doubled up as trading halls. Water at the villagers feet does nothing either. To fix it either ditch the cells and let them roam around, or break all workstations, place one down, see which villager links to it, then move it in front. Expect to do this often as simply leaving the chunks and re-entering can break it. The irony of this being 'unbreakable'

The key is to prevent them from unlinking which is done by having a villager close enough to a bed, so the pathfinding AI believes the villager can sleep. Otherwise there is a massive chance the village won't stay in tact when it's unloaded. Yeah I'm an expert at this, and there's no reason I can't watch these tutorials to help people when things go wrong. So jog on fan boy

I know you said 40 villagers isn’t worth it but honestly doing the extra 10 really makes it easier if you just stack the beds in a square and build a 21x21 platform. Makes it to where when you stack your farm both tiers will usually spawn 2 golems each. Also another thing bedrock in my experience doesn’t like spawning things when it should be so imo it’s better to only use campfires to intentionally buffer the spawns a tiny bit.

I was about to build a small iron farm but might as well go big. I’m still early game but I have enough cobble and sand (for the glass) to get this done. I thought about making both layers but only “activating” the bottom layer now. then using the top to add the different biome librarians(once they are mastered and possibly zombiefied in a camber in the nether.) Then I can have a portal above and out of spawning radius to help drop the cured librarians in and access the villagers trading on top. Any thoughts?

Just a little tip make sure you breed all the villagers in the biome you want them from. If you bring 2 from one biome and take them to another biome the babies will be from the biome they are bred in. Also if you get there before the villager trading mechanics change which could be some time, the librarian Villagers will still be able to have all enchanted books. If that's what you where meaning that is.

Mobs only spawn a certain amount of blocks away from you, I’m not sure on the exact number but I think having 2 as shown in video traps both the farms at each edge of the spawning sphere, meaning you can activate both the top and the bottom one at the same time, there wouldn’t be much point in adding any more layers as you would have to do multiple different afk spots at different heights, may work on a multiplayer server/realm but…who afks with friends? Haha that’s a solo activity

Isn't a job/profession block can also be a POI or the village center where the golem could spawn? So putting them in the center of the spawning platform is a much better idea. Also iron golem needs 2x4x2 to spawn so extending the platform 1 block in each direction and using a hopper minecart under the center to put a solid/magma block instead of a campfire to cover all spawning spots possible.

20:55 I went 76 up from the floor, he says beds must go on that level, I don’t see any golems form the bottom part ever since I moved villagers into the top. Did I mess up? The villagers are 77~78 from the bottom spawn platform, did I mess up??? I also accidentally built the top part 2~3 blocks to the side

Pretty sure they are immune to fall damage. Also immune to drowning I think

in java edition signs dont burn either and you can go through them as well to my knowledge. in java (idk about bedrock) if you place a sign on top of a fence gate (assuming fire spread is on) then the fence gate will not burn
