I really don't think there's anything wrong with that Scarlet microphone. I mean what the hell are you looking for? It can pick up a rats fart from 20 ft away. Who gives a crap, it records your voice and it picks up pretty decent without post editing. People sing and record guitar well with the Scarlet microphone. Honestly I can't tell in God damn difference. I've give it an a okay.

I bought this bundle 3 years ago, and upgraded to an AT2020, and recently to a Rode NT1 5th Gen. And what they don't do enough in these videos, is talk about how important a mic is on your own voice. I did a mic comparison (for my own voice), and in a treated room (recording booth), I'm getting FAR BETTER clarity out of the Scarlett mic. The other two (for me), pick up WAY too much sibilance, are too boxy in treated areas (like a booth), it's an absolute war in the mids with the Rode NT1A, and the AT2020 can be flat/dull. And both of them, make my voice sound grainy, the opposite of smoothe. Yet, the Scarlett 2i2 mic, for me, has been very good. The main reason I got the other two mics, was because EVERYONE (on KZbin) goes on about how incredible they are. And I'm sure that they are, for certain/specific voices, but not for everyone. I also just got an SM58 that few people say to use for KZbin voiceover/narration, yet, for me, it also sounds MUCH better than the Rode NT1A and the AT2020, and I have mobility; instead of having to stand in one place all of the time. There's a KZbinr by the name of Jian Camille who's been around for a number of years, and still uses the Scarlett 2i2 bundle. She has over 100K subcribers, and I wondered why she didn't upgrade her mic already. It made me think for a while, THEN I revisited the mic recently, and realized that it likely suits her voice better than other mics.

Been using this kit for a year. The headphones are actually surprisingly durable. The pleather on the headband is starting to age yes, but they've fallen off my desk onto the hardwood floor probably 20 times and are no worse for it. It's relatively light plastic, but it's not cheap construction. I am planning to upgrade soon though.

I appreciate this well done review, I am a sophomore highschool student taking a a Recording Studio Techniques (Or otherwise known as an audio engineering class) and me and my teacher were having a discussion as to what we wanted for Christmas. I wouldn't discourage anyone from getting it... The only real problem are the headphones, after a year or so they started making my ears ring, it was quite scary. For days after using them I would have a strong ringing sound triggered the moment anything surpassed a specific volume (a passing car, a dog barking, even my own voice!!). I threw them away and got me some open back sennheisers and everything improved 200%.

I don't get why people are so in love with the SM7B. No, I don't own one, it just seems really expensive for recording something that's pretty easy to record well: voice only. Plus the gain is really low on it. And also, if you have a quality mike and want to make it sound similar to the Shure, you can get 80% of the way there, by just warming up the EQ, right? On the other hand, there's no doubt that the Shure is definitely the coolest looking mike around. There's not a single mike that looks better. Anyways, I like his mike pick, AKG P120. I think Audio Technica AT 2020 is a good mike at reasonable cost too

I've never understood someone spending $400 for an SM7B (store price), and then going cheap on an interface that struggles to drive the mic/headphones! Fact is, no one cared about the SM7B until it got out that it was Michael Jackson's favorite vocal mic, then suddenly every home studio owner had to have one! IMO better to buy a Shure Beta 58, which not only sounds cleaner than the SM7B (Unless you're going for the slightly muffled sound, in which case just get the Shure 58), but also poses no problem for the budget interfaces.

I’m curious, however, if someone could or would mind helping me out. I have a gaming desktop and planned on plugging my interface into it. Would I be able to use my gaming headset to hear what I record? Or would I have to use specifically designed headsets for it? Could I have them both plugged in, and swap to the desired headset when I’m gaming/recording? Hope I explained my questions properly. Thanks in advance 🤘🏼

Amazing video, putting together a package for the same price is so helpful! Now that the Solo 4 is out, the Solo 3 is 80 bucks on Amazon, with the Studio package at 150. I'm having trouble determining whether the microphone is worth the 70 bucks, or I'd be better served by another cheap XLR microphone like the Marantz MPM1000 (which comes with a small stand!). Focusrite's opacity on the specs of the microphone is not helping! 😆

Now this would be an easy fix in post with any DAW because I can process the final output in Mono however because I GO LIVE and I dont have the option to fix in post (because it is LIVE) How can I get the live audio on the left and right side of the recording when recording live?

Is there anything better "bang for your buck" kind of soundcard right now I would get much better quality with, that does not cost a fortune ? I want to be able to plug in my guitars (6-8 strings) with both passive and active pickups and learn my fav music and also record music I make myself. Do you guys have any tips ? Both hardware and software (software with amps and effects) that work together. I play mostly metal music and rock. I do not want the soundcard or what you call it to be more expensive than 300$. I am just an amateur that wants to start playing again and get better but want it to sound good. Thanks in advance for any help guys! PS my friend told me the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen was a good choice for the money, what do you guys think?

Thanks I was about to buy the set, thanks soo much for helping, but do we have to buy USB’s to connect the mic and headphones to the solo interface?
@DarkCornerStudios3 жыл бұрын
The usbs? This interface isn't for usb connection. This is only for xlr connection for mics...and 1/4 inch connection for headphones
@joseaflores94273 жыл бұрын
@@DarkCornerStudios I meant if we need wires to connect the mic and headphones to the interface. Or does it come with them.
@DarkCornerStudios3 жыл бұрын
@@joseaflores9427 no. You will need to buy mic cables. The interface may come with one...but often does not. The USB cable for the interface DOES come with it though

So wait… the solo has an in slot for guitar but the 2i2 does not? I’m upset. Maybe I have an older model? My 2i2 does not have that and it was more expensive than the solo

How is this headphone compared to my DT990 Pro 250Ohm? I use that headphone in my studio but while I am travelling I want something that goes with my 2i2 because this 250Ohm headphone is really quite when I connect it without the headphone amp. I thinking of getting this bundle, will it be okay and also how's this mic is compared to AT2035?

can you recommend sound card with mic that can record voice and guitar at least 1 meter away from mic?
@DarkCornerStudios11 күн бұрын
@Country_Acoustic there is no mic i would recommend using 1 meter away from a sound source That's not how recording works

I'm considering this bundle 2nd hand for interim solution while I wait for my studio to be shipped overseas. $137 including an Akai MPK Mini Mk2 thrown in the mix. I can either buy this and use the headphones for production or buy the solo solo (see what I did there) for $82 and a pair of BD DT990s for another $100 but then no controller (which I really like for producing). Any thoughts? That's pretty much my current budget maxed out.

Can you comment on what operating system is needed on the PC? Does it become obsolete when Microsoft requires a new operating system.? This is what happened with my m-audio interface which required software for win 95/98.

Eventually it might happen...but there is no way to tell what future proofing is going to be available. Works with Win10 and Win11

The Scarlett studio mic uses a 20mm electret condenser capsule and the circuit board looks sadly similar to a BM 800. It's junk in a sort of nice housing. There are some specs at recordinghacks.....
