i got the MSI Tomahawk WIFI AMD B650 for my ryzen 7800X3D and 32 gb corsair dominator titanium and rtx 4070 ti super and i am quite happy with that combination , got be quiet pure loop 2 for cpu cooling

I'm more keen on highend boards, coz (i) with better components, they're more likely to last >10 years, (ii) 10 GbE & Wifi 7 may be the minimum in a decade and (iii) GPUs in a decade's time may be closer to saturating PCIe 5. Well, that's me. For most users though, agree with you that even a low to mid B650 board is good enough. Don't waste $$$!

I have a ryzen 5 5500 and rtx 2060 super and when I'm playing and I cap my fps then my gpu runs at like 500 mhz less than it's base which is 1900mhz or so what could that be the cause of ?

the x670 was on sale when i bought it with a bundle for 7800x3d and 32gb cl38 ram, im in the process of building a new pc i have everything minus ssds and gpu.

I went for a B650E motherboard, because I didn't had much choice as I'm using a Mini-ITX motherboard for AM5 and highly prefer ASUS as a brand. So, they either have this B650E Mini-ITX motherboard or the crazy overpriced X670E Mini-ITX motherboard. That's why I went for a B650E motherboard. But for Micro-ATX and ATX motherboard, you have more choices, so it's easier to choose.

Having watched your video it makes sense, but honestly you should try to do more sensible titles and you'll get more subs/upvotes. "They're pointless" is a very controversial and inaccurate statement and will immediately annoy people before they even watch your explanation. BIOS flashback, if you fuck up a BIOS update, that button will be a life saver to unbrick the motherboard. Its also a lifesaver if you sell your CPU for a newer one and you had to update the BIOS beforehand.

I have 2 motherboards in mind currently to go with the Ryzen 7 8700G, MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI Can I do better with these 2 MoBo choices for an APU CPU? I'm intending to use a dGPU (RTX 3060) with this APU CPU. I need the iGPU for light work or when the dGPU decides to go bad and I can still use my PC's iGPU as a stop gap measure while I look for a replacement.

The R7 8700G is so easy to handle power wise that both those boards would be absolutely oversized for it. So get whichever is cheaper! I even made a build with a R5 8500G on a off brand B650 in a 3D printed case and that was absolutely fine even after overclocking :) dGPU usage with it is also gonna be fine, I like running two GPUs!

PCIe 5 wont be a "thing" in 2-3 years enough for you to care about. 4090 has barely any difference in PCIe3 vs PCIe4, let alone 5. So much pedantic people and misinformation.

I maybe upgrading my 12th gen Intel rig into Ryzen 9000 series. Im waiting for the reviews on those to see if its worth it or not. But yeah i will most likely go with a B series board if i upgrade. I had an X470 Strix board for my 2700X back in the day and it was total overkill. Since then i have had a Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 7 5800X and both with B series boards.

Pointless is only if you go an plug in 1 GPU and call it a day. I am one of the users that is not limited due to motherboard nature, and I used to have firewire PCIE card for my 2nd audio device, but now I will make my GPU perform worse due to less lanes. I also used PCIE NVME expansion cards before, and my z690 motherboard allowed all of it, while my z790 will lose NVME drives, and I can't even plug in firewire card, or I will fight GPU lanes, and there is absolutely no space for NVME expansion cards You are buying X670E for more lanes, and that's the benefit of AMD 7000, it has more lanes than Intel 13th/14th gen People buy Threadrippers exactly for same reason people buying X670E for, to get more connections through PCIE slots Parallel connectivity on Threadripper allows you so many lanes and capture card for your heart's content. I don't know why you would make this video, it is misinformative, because some people use El Gato cards and NVME Pcie Card extensions.
