@@DanCBearded Thanks. I’m fortunate. Due to my job, it’s best to clean my beard on the daily. So far, there hasn’t been major damage. I attribute it to the contents of Dr. Squatch’s soap being less harsh than others. And, from Kingsmen Beard Club oils and butters having the optimal ingredients for my beard; no coconut oil in either and the butter is wax-less.

I've been using bar soaps for quite some time now. I love how they make my beard feel after every use along with how much cleaner I feel. My all time favorite bar soap has to be Pine Tar. I love the smell, the refreshing feel after. If I could change anything I've experienced using bar soaps would be, I wish the company's would start making HOTEL size bar soaps that equal the same as there regular size soaps. I cut my soaps in half anyway and would feel this would help with longevity of the soap plus would make it great for traveling. Other than that, if I could recommend also that after every use, rinse your bar off and pat dry with a towel. I've had bars literally last over a year doing this.(NOT JOKING) Awesome video Dan! 👊

I use Honest Amish Beard & Body Soap ( The Slick version ) I love that it is all natural too. I only use it on my beard though, but it leaves it nice and clean, and ready to apply my oil and balm. I only use the wash every third day, and have found that works perfect for my daily/weekly routine. I also cut the big bar into small “hotel sized” bars. Each lasts about 2-3 weeks. I really enjoy bar soaps to cleanse my body daily. I use a lot of small-batch company bar soap, but I focus on those who make their own versus buying it from a bigger company. Questions: 1) What about active charcoal in the bar soaps, is that healthy, and should that be in all soaps? 2) What about ostrich oil bar soap? Is it still stripping? 3) Are Pure-Castile bar soaps any good for the beard? 4) Is there a major difference between pine tar soap bars or is it mostly the scent?
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
1) great option, normally really stripping 2) That is an interesting one, less stripping but less cleaning 3) nooooooo terrible! 4) Pine tar is it's own word! I myself love Whiskey n Hardtacks puck. I'm not the biggest fan of the container it comes in though. Have you changed your stance on BTMS Dan?
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
Not at all! Big fan of BTMS in rinse out shower product, but do not believe they should be in oils, balms, or butters
@codyrobinson1572 жыл бұрын
It works very well in my beard and some of my favorite company's use BTMS. I know it doesn't work for everybody. Genuinely curious why in the wash but not oil or butters? Care to elaborate? Thanks Dan. Been watching since day one
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
@@codyrobinson157 oh yeah, very simple. BTMS is an emulsifying ingredient. Meaning it is meant to help mix ingredients together that normally do not mix well. Most common example would be water and oil. You cannot put water and oil in a bottle, shake it, and expect them to mix. Emulsifying ingredients help them mix together. This makes total sense for washes and conditioners because they have ingredients that do not play well togethers. Balms, butters, and oils DO NOT and should not have any ingredients that do not mix well. Example, they should not have water. Even more importantly with the final point, wash and conditioners are rinse out products. BTMS ingredients are not meant to absorb or sit on your skin or hair. In those cases they act as a fake silicon like ingredient. Meaning they can in the short term make your beard feel and look good, but in reality they are suffocating the beard and harming it. You may not notice it tomorrow, next month, or even next year, but it will show itself at some point. Your beard will not style as well, it will not grow as fast, it will shed more, you will have beard pimples, and all sorts of other complications. As compared to using better suited ingredients. This is something I have studied and worked with really in-depth and I am very happy to talk about. I haven't made a video dedicated to it, because company owners can be sensitive and I do not want any crying and saying I am targeting them. So I just address it when people ask me, like in this comment. Please keep the questions coming if you have any! Truly happy to help!

Is the Dr. Sasquatch pine tar a good quality healthy stripping soap for the beard? Also, are the Honest Amish beard/body soaps stripping or washing? How are they for quality/health?
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
Honest amish bar soaps are stripping and they are fantastic! I enjoy those. Dr S is really solid. Not the best but not bad at all. I also enjoyed their bar soap.

I can only ask you your personal experiences, I would love to hear other's results, what do you think of BeardBrand's utility bar? If brand names were removed what about the future of a multi purpose bar soap? Whiskey and Hard tack CAN be a full body soap on a tecnical level. I love utilitarian products but understand some things cannot be substituted. I would love a separate video in the future breaking down the chemistry of 'high end.' At the moment I use BB as a bar shampoo for my hair and body. I also bought some various strip soaps, cut them in cubes and throw them in a body scrub pouch. The downside to some of the more hydrating multi purpose soaps, in my opinion, is lack of smell. Using something like Dr Squatch then rinsing off with a bar like BB seems to give me great overall body hydration for the skin.

I really enjoy the bar soap from beardbrand! I haven't looked into the small details of it, but I loved the tea tree bar
@markod82802 жыл бұрын
@@DanCBearded I'll leave the videos to the pros like you but based off a quick ingredient check, Whsikey and Hardtack use a similar mixture of a fat and cleanser/smell. Beard Brand uses mostly Shea Butter, Whiskey and Hard Tack a blend of olive, coconut and more. At the end of the day the best soap will speak for itself.
