@LAndrewsChannel2 жыл бұрын
@@Char1es4k Higher inflation means higher prices, that's how things work in every market, but it is besides the point of the regional price difference since inflation everywhere. Let's take the 1000$ iPhone 14 Pro as a mathematical example. That value is before *any* tax. Sales tax in most if not all US states is under 10% so I will use this value. In EU the VAT tend to be around 20%. So after tax, you are paying a bit under 1100$ based on the MSRP for an iPhone 14 Pro in US while in EU that should be 1200$ on average after tax. One of the biggest retailers in my country has the same phone up for preorder for ~1268€ so it is pretty close to what I've calculated above. I don't have an example from US since I don't live there to do a direct comparision. Considering the fact that now the dollar is on par or even better valued than the euro, it is fair to compare the 2 currencies 1 to 1 which means the difference is 68€ extra or a bit more in EU vs US. This might be another tax but it is ~5% of the final price so not close to the 50% value you claimed.

What it does do is giving me and my cardiac doctor an overview if it is getting worse. It also alerts me if my heartbeats are going over a certain level. The detection of breathing (respiration rate) and blood oxygen detection are great to look into long term. I know we always mention: It has not much changed, I think the watch does not need too much change, the software is where it is at. This is basically my dayjob; I talk to customers about these devices, recommend, and sell. In my market (US/Northern California), the absolute vast majority of consumers don't care about any of these features. They just want the thing they've seen on the commercials, and that's about it. The stereotype/myth is very true: they are buying it because it looks good, is easy to use, familiar, and everyone knows it is expensive. I ask what they think about the cameras: "oh, they take good pictures." Screen quality? "It's fine." It's a boring customer, but one that spends money. The Watch Ultra will end up like the stainless steel variant of the Series 7: no one will buy it at retail. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being a one-off. It fixes the number one customer complaint at my store about the Apple Watch (durability, number two being battery life) while introducing a new complaint (size). The average normie will just get the 8, and we'll recommend that to avoid a return. Maybe the odd Patagonia-clad Adventure Dentist will show interest, but the Arc'teryx-sponsored Antarctic Nature Photographer will say the battery life isn't sufficient and that's what Garmin is for. These types do come in looking for memory cards and GoPros on occasion. I'm really not expecting us to even stock the Ultra in stores, as we didn't stock the SS. Good riddance to the 3; tired of taking returns on those. We don't upsell to the SE for $50 extra rev, we do it because 3's get returned and SEs don't. Personally, I think the SE is the best watch for most iPhone users, as most don't use the 7's extra features anyway. The Airpods Pro will sell fine; Apple can't keep up with demand on those and there wasn't really reason for a feature update. Again, when customers are asked why Airpods, majority think they are the only earbuds that will work with an iPhone and/or they want them for status/image. When they are sold out, it's usually an easy switch to Sony Linkbuds S or Galaxy Buds Pros. It's funny how shocked they are when they hear they can use whatever. Sometimes they'll go over-ear. Customers actually like it when we do this; they feel like they're getting the inside scoop on what 'tech-people' are buying and leave happy. I actually really look forward to furthering this informal research and finding out what -regular- people end up saying about these new features, wondering if anyone will even bring them up.
@MatejaMaric2 жыл бұрын
This is so interesting to hear. As a tech person, I think working with such customers would actually be a bit depressing over time. To think that iPhones only work with AirPods? Oh my. As for the Ultra vs SS debate, I’m not so sure. With the SS versions you were always getting literally just a shinier watch for almost twice the price. This time round, there is a very distinct design change and actual feature differences (battery life, display size and brightness, …). It will attract some Garmin users, sure, but it will also attract people who identify or aspire to be as adventurous as the people in the fancy ads. Just like people who buy GoPros thinking they’ll go skydiving or sand surfing just like in the ads, when instead they use it in total twice, at like the most boring beach ever. Also, a lot of people just simply like the chunky watch aesthetic. Just think of how many people wear G-Shocks on the regular. And so many sports watches are of a similar size anyways. Idk, I think it’ll be a hit.
@forgottencameras2 жыл бұрын
@@MatejaMaric You're 100% right: it is depressing finding out first-hand just how little the general public actually knows about the devices they basically base their lives around, and how much they really fear them (especially the elderly). Printers are the easiest example. I don't even want to sell printers to old people and Mac users due to the absurd percentage of returns we get due to the fact that they can't figure out how to set them up and won't pay or find someone to help them. They think the printer is broken when it is user error, even after it is explained to them VERY EXPLICITELY that they may have difficulty in setting it up and that they just need to go to the manufacturer's website for instructions. Some old people I've gone as far as selling them the USB-B to A cable so they can just plug it in and pray Windows self-installs the printer drivers. The situation is really bad. The only things they seem to know about technology are what they see in advertisements. Anything more, they outright refuse to learn. There is a good side to the job, though. We have a 13 year old kid that comes in and talks to us about the screenplay he's writing, collecting advice about marketing, casting, and shooting. He just made a wiki to organize all of his movie's characters and lore. People that come in wanting to get started in KZbin, asking about cameras and microphones and building editing rigs. Young system builders whose parents are buying the parts so they can get the experience. Students going into college who need a laptop to last 4-6 years and survive a bag, often with odd/high performance requirements (arts/science). Small business owners looking for efficient printing setups and office computers for their T-shirt businesses or whatever. Building cool work-from-home setups for closet RGB lovers. People buying their first mirrorless camera after binge-watching educational KZbin videos about photo/video, looking to get into the hobby. Indie fashion designers and MUAs moving up from marketing with a phone. Working with the young, ambitious, and motivated. The not-normies. The not boring customers. It’s crazy to me that people expect the “next” version of a device should have such a drastic change that you *have to* upgrade from the previous model. No one needs a new device every year, if you have the money to do so that’s cool and your choice but there seems to be this expectation in the tech world that every year needs to bring a revolution. @@mark3027 But why would they expect that? I think that’s where the logical fallacies start to enter the picture. Sure there are a few people like me who will typically upgrade every year (iPhones, not other Apple products) but that’s mainly because I use the “new every year” subscription thing instead of just buying them. Even though I have the money to upgrade every year, I wouldn’t do it typically because I don’t need the upgrades every year. But every 2-3 years? Much better chance. Or every 4-5 years? Absolutely. But everyone isn’t on the same schedule, so of course there are new devices every year, and 1/2 to 1/3 of the owners will buy that new product every 2 or every 3 years. There aren’t that many people who actually buy the newest product every single year. That’s always going to be a minority of consumers.

They did every heart test on me twice and I had the hospital heart rate monitor warning beeping for awhile. All the tests they did came back normal thankfully but they were very confused on what was causing it. Two IV bags later, it was still a little high but I felt better than I did when I got there. I couldn’t believe that I was half asleep ( it was like around 2am) and it was still high. They still didn’t know what happened and told me to go see a cardiologist. Unfortunately I don’t have insurance right now, but we’re working on it and as soon as I can I will hopefully know what’s going on. I still remember checking my watch when I had gotten home to find that before the battery died, it warned me 4 times that my heart rate was high while I was in the hospital. It just crazy for me because I originally brought it to control my hearing aid without my phone but now it’s more of a heart monitor to me.

I am as non-Apple a consumer as there is. But, speaking specifically on this type of more candid, person-on-the-street reactions/comments/perspectives video from LTT: GREAT! We need some more of these across LTT. Pro tech youtubers can become far too cloistered and removed from the reality of real tech consumers. Nice work Jonathan!

back when i had the series 4 it saved my life, it noticed my heart was not okay and warned me, i went to the hospital and i was on time, if i kept working i might got a stroke, ever since i will fight any work place that forces me to take it off, i won't take it off, unless i shower, or it needs to charge/update, with the beta of WatchOS 9 i started using the sleep tracking so now it's even on at night! I love my apple watch so much.

The Watch's auto emergency detection has actually been really useful for me, but almost no one else I know would need it. Honestly, Apple shouldn't have put the letters in the intro. It's good marketing, but it just doesn't seem ethical. My family has had some motor issues down the line, and it hit early for me. It's nice that it's there because I have actually fallen off of stairs twice before, and both times the watch did catch both times. Having safety features integrated into iPhone is nice, because personally I just want a good old classic watch. Sometimes, it just feels like I just can't get back up when I ever fall, in which case it's useful. Useful for people like me? Yes. Useful for most users? No.

Bought the ultra even tho i most definitely am not an athlete. I just happen to scratch up my watches easily and was planning on a stainless steel version this yr. The ultra is already in that price range and that it gets a bigger size and more battery are all positives to me. While the design is a bit chonky and “ugly” i really don’t mind it. While i dont think this watch will sell well, maybe apple will see enough ppl buy it to make an Apple Watch plus/pro that keeps the regular series design but increases the size to get that bigger battery

I really like the fact you get out and meet people and do videos in different locations. The other teams (especially the android reviews) would benefit from having people in the street's opinions on new phones and tablets and not just personal opinions. Keep up the great work.

I do not think the watch will be a problem. They always go on sale and I expect to see it on Amazon for like $150 off in a few months and people already pay that price for the titanium models I am sure of those watches.

The Watch Ultra doesn't even really make sense for diving enthusiats because it can't connect to the tank to show how much air you have left. So they are probably not going to replace their existing diving computers with an Apple Watch Ultra.

3:10 A lot of people buy luxury diver watches with insane water depth specs and will never dive in their lifetime... And if you compare that with the Apple Watch Ultra, it's just cheaper. Now, if the watch display doubles as a solar panel... I'm pretty sure they'll definitely attract a significant portion of the watch enthusiast crowd that haven't bought a smart watch yet. The only contention is that smart watches are cumbersome compared to a quartz or an automatic is a dynamo, whether through manual, automatic winding or the solar panel idea discussed previously, at least to me. My Apple watch is just sitting in my box for months because I dread needing to take my watch off to charge halfway during the day just because I forgot to charge it.

Like the woman at 5:19, I too would have really loved a Pro mini! Such a shame the regular mini must have sold so little that Apple decided to axe it. I have no interest for the humongous new iPhones and also not for the Apple Watch Ultra, which is just simply too big and fugly.

I think the lates improvements are fine, but what no one is talking about is the immense price raise that has happened in EU. Prices have literally go a 20% up, and right now any iPhone is in a no-no price range, as most people in Europe don't make more than 30K yearly.

I think that one lady was right about the mini pro. The 13 mini is like 200 bucks less than the regular 13 and the only difference is the size. I want a pro but it’s kind pricy and too big. I’d get a pro if it was smaller and a little less cost wise… like they did with the mini

With the iPhone 11 Pro, my iPhone finally ticked all my boxes. Mainly screen brightness, battery life and cameras. I’m still happy with it but the battery is showing it’s age so I’m faced with the choice of paying for a new battery or upgrading. There is no compelling reason for getting the 14 pro for my use case, but I do plan on getting one, mainly for vanity reasons. The iPhone 11 is the longest I have had an iPhone before upgrading and I have an itch to scratch.

TBH I was really looking forward to iPhone 14 Pro...and I think they did a decent job (disregarding newer, even stupidier notch and making it a feature) but having a flagship phone in 2022 WITHOUT USB-C when my Macbook has one (and I have a great docking station for it as well) is just STUPID ;) Moreover the prices in Poland (iPhone 14 Pro: 1400 USD here!) actually WENT UP so much that it's insane! For iPhone 13 we have to PAY MORE than a year ago! 😵 Soo... I bought a Z Fold 4 😅
@morhelm2 жыл бұрын
I also went through the same decision route and also got myself a Fold 4. I'm expecting Apple will just remove the charging port next year and just use wireless charging.
@doniscoming2 жыл бұрын
@@morhelm Yeah we'll see about that...TBH I don't really care about that - magsafe is nice, but wireless charging is just a waste of energy compared to AWESOME magsafe that's on current Macbook Pros that have PHYSICAL contacts! So I hope Apple selling us on their "environmental awareness" won't do that ;) Fold 4 isn't perfect but offers something that no other phone does and that's really cool ;) I was thinking about getting an iPad mini for travelling but You can't make calls from it when I don't have my phone with me so I think that's also really dumb as You could easly have an esim there and talk from airpods and leave Your phone at home :)
