Did a drags night with the gen3. Started with TCS 1 but had to progressively put lif to 3 and tcs to 3 to try and stop both the front lifting and the rear spinning. I had the Woolich logger plugged in for each run so I can see the TCS and lif kicking in and doing it's thing in the data. The reality is that the TCS doesn't kick in as intrusively as you expect. In fact the TCS never kicked in for wheel spin because my reaction time was too quick and I shut off the throttle first. The biggest factor is the ride by wire mapping of your throttle. You cannot give it 100% throttle without looping the bike so the real modulation is you with your wrist on the throttle. For my own amusement one day I might remap mode 3 for drags where the throttle maps for first gear in particular will give me the maximum etv setting that the bike can handle without risk of looping it. It will allow me to get the bike to true 100% throttle as fast as possible with a minimal turn of the wrist. Wheel spin was more a factor of the track getting greasy because we were sharing the night with the cars.

Would you still recommend 2nd gen Fz-09? Im thinking about getting it. But im not sure if its worth the extra 13grand

Good test INFAMAS hope you do more tests like 0-150kmh for example or 100-200. I think 0,13 sec is really up to the rider i think with the 2nd gen you could improve on the 4th gen not so much cause of the rider aids. Anyway grest content hope to see more. Iam a 2nd gen owner. It looks like yamaha is taming the beast from gen to gen 😅

Interesting video! Probably don;t make you faster in real terms. rider skils still trumps all! However. I think rider aids may bail your butt out in tough situations, grab too much throttle coming out of a corner, or come in too hot into a corner, or get ham fisted with the thottle, or riding in wet conditions.

Can you test tge rider modes?

I can finesse the bike better than the electronic aids can when I'm attentive and trying to get the most out of it, but if I have an oh-shit moment that overloads me they will end up doing a better job than me. I think the average street bike still only has safety features rather than go-fast features.

I've seen a dude do 10.4 seconds on a quarter mile with a gen 1 MT-09 somewhere in Asia where it was just MT-09s dragging it out and others where getting around 11 to 11.5 seconds. That guy had some skill at launching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/roKTeZ54i5tmg8Usi=Zi6TJ5wYMP_GGDn-

You could full throttle gen2 with TCS on. Dont get it..
@INFAMAS2 ай бұрын
You definitely can't haha. If you had it on TCS 2 it would bunny hop like crazy. My first 2 runs on the 2nd gen (Not in the video) it was on TCS 1 and it would come up then slam down then come up and slam down.

0:15 No. The biggest difference is frame stiffness, frame geometry and suspensions. Then you can start talking about electronics. I'm out.
@INFAMAS2 ай бұрын
If you first jump on the bike from a Gen 2, you aren't going to notice the suspension or frame difference straight away. But you will notice the 1000 more options and settings on the bike before you even ride it.
