I like the idea of the two bench vices in line with each other on the long table. Very nice clean well kept shop. Impressive. Must be nice to have 400A to work with. I went from a 50A service in my old shop to an off-grid generator set up in my present temporary shop. Using my Miller 300D NT and a little 3500w generator for now. Hoping to upgrade to a larger generator eventually. I can really appreciate the importance of an adequate electric service. Very nice tour. Thank you!

I could just drop into your shop and get to work right away! Got myself a very similar setup. Great to see one that has grown through hard work overhauls and repairs. Had to do it the hard way too,lots of searching and collecting. Refreshing to see it being kept real in these days of expensive designer workshops that are all over tv these days! The tv programs are like adverts for Bailigh ,Snap on etc-so far removed from reality. You have my respect sir.

I love this. I just turned 20 and I have been on my own for a year now and I am trying to start my own fab business. I have several customers whom I make tables for on a regular basis as well as trailer repair and pipe fencing. Everything I have as far as tools is in my truck. This is motivating!

very nice especially if it's on the same property as your house. I really like the fact that you bargain shop and revive machinery to use. also I like the fact that everything has a place and is well taken care of. customers feel much better taking items to an organized clean shop. I'm envious of the cool setup.
@DoRiteFabrication

+Tombomb1816 , Thanks, yes the shop is located on the back of our old farm. It's close to the house so I can stop during the day and spend a few minutes with the kids, or help the wife. I am defiantly a bargain shopper. I have learned to stretch a dollar till it's so thin you can read the news paper through it. I love bringing new life to machinery/equipment. I am more of a get it working correctly kind of a guy, where as The Basement Shop Guy (Brad) Makes his stuff better than new. Stay tuned to the channel, The shop is currently under renovations from some storm damage and some reorganization to make my work flow better. I am going to make another shop video to show all the changes/repairs.

Now That Is A DREAM SHOP...VERY Nicely Done Jim. Very impressive. You said you had 400 amps split. I did the same thing when I re-wired my house...brought 400 amps from the pole and split it 200 to house and to my small 16 ft sq. shop

We haven't yet needed a fire extinguisher at home, but dad's always been adamant about keeping them everywhere, every bathroom has one under the sink, as well as under the laundry room sink, theres at least two in the kitchen that I can think of, one in the basement, and a few more in the garage. We try and keep then in places spread around the house, with a heavier concentration around places that fires are more likely to start, like the kitchen and garage.

Hi Jim, Very well organized shop and super clean. You could get more room for the CNC when you move the end feed table outside and side the band saw back to where your walk-thru is. Feed the metal thru a hole in the wall.

hi, I enjoyed your video, being a farmer in a large farm community I've been in alot of shops and never saw one as clean as mine (I'm ocd) ..........until I watched your video! I love how you keep it clean, neat and tidy! most think you can't keep a shop clean and use it too but they are wrong. just takes hard work! I mostly rebuild engines so I like to keep mine as spotless as I can. my friends tease me all the time about it but guess who they come to when they want something done or to borrow a tool LoL. now I'm inspired to do another shop video. thank you!!!

That's a nice setup. There isn't much you can't do in there. Not sure what type of clamps you use. But I've destroyed quite a few of those black bessey clamps at work. The posts just don't hold up to pressure like some of the old school stuff we've got around the shop.

Hey Jim, it's Chuck just dropping in to say "Howdy". I hope things are going well enough, I know it must be tough if this is what I saw in the photos you kindly shared with me on what should have been a "stress free" weekend. This is certainly a good inventory of what fine equipment you have if any of it got wounded...I can only imagine how you must've felt. Man, I sure do wish I was just down the way so I could come help out, but it sounds like you've got a good circle of friends and family to pitch in an get things buttoned up. Best of luck with everything, and I'll stay in touch...Aloha, Chuck V.

Hey Jim. One suggestion. With your blast cabinet, get some rubber sheeting ; Mcmaster-Carr# 8630K153 or what ever size you'd need, hang it with a riveted strip from the top and ends on the inside of your cabinet. This will keep your cabinet from wearing through and also minimizes contamination when blasting S.S. or Aluminum.

Jim, that was fun. I'll keep watching if you keep posting them. I think I saw an AZ license plate above your toolbox. Did you use to live in the southwest? Joel....

Just my luck Jim. I just found your channel today and now, going through all your videos, I find out you live in Orlando. I was just there the beginning of this month visiting my brother. I would have loved to meet you. I live in north eastern PA. So I won't be back down that way any way soon. Am really enjoying your videos. Keep them coming.

The shop is around 1200sf. It's a little to cozy sometimes when I am working with bigger projects, but I am blessed to have what I do.

Is this considered a metal fabrication shop? Or is this just a typical Mechanic shop? I'm an Architecture student in college and I'm researching Metal Fabrication Shops and/or Studios for a project I'm currently working on and I can't seem to find much on either, other than a few semi helpful wiki pages. I'm looking to find the type of information that you explained in this video, however I'm not sure what kind of shop yours is which is keeping me from using this video as one of my sources as to what a metal fabrication shop should look like and what tools typically belong in it. If you could get back to me regarding what type of shop you would call yours, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.
