If I refuse to accept that, the man will be offended. Later on if we go out often and get to know each other more; then couples can split the bill. For those of you who decide to be stay at home wives, you have to be extra careful to make sure you protect yourself financially. I have seen many former stay at home moms end up in difficult financial situations after divorce or widowhood because they allowed the husband to make all financial decisions. Set up independent financial accounts. Make sure that you understand your finances. Set up credit in your name. Make sure your name is on all retirement accounts and no withdrawals are made without your knowledge. You can be a traditional spouse and still participate in decisions related to savings, investments, and other financial matters. If you are caring for children and a household, your time is as valuable as the partner who works.

Personally I relate incredibly with the Ukrainian's girl's personal opinions because it's very similar to mine. Go girl, glad I'm not the only slavic girl that thinks like you do. @@timmymannies6888 well, the reason why I hate dating in my country because the gender roles are kind over the top. People in the comments see it as nothing bad and yes, gender roles aren't bad but it comes with expectations down the line. So some of us Slavic women who actually do care for other things than what is traditional are waking up to the nonsense it is and then the same happens like here, we get talked over by the majority of women who are comfortable with gender roles. Like the paying too, People make it seem like I think it's bad and I have no issues with letting a man or anyone pay for me but it always comes with expectations that I hate. But if you are really interested in dating a slavic girl then don't be too scared of it. The standards aren't so high. I personally dress way too fancy because I like pretty and cute things and people look at me like I"m a freak. Because I don't wear leggins only nonstop lol. But the thing is the pressure to be the provider is big. And it's not so good like the Bulgarian girl says it is. I have seen a lot of families suffer because of it. I literally don't know a single working family because of these expectations and roles.

I don't think the concept of career in Eastern Europe and Western Europe is the same. I am Romanian (not slavic, but Eastern European) and in Romania women have a kid and after 2 years you go back to 30-40h per week basically full time job. 4 in 10 senior executives are women. 1 in 3 engineers are women. Women will say that marriage is more important than career...not that they don't have one!!! In Germany and Itally women have a baby and come to work with a 15-20h contract. 1 in 10 senior executives are women ( usually HR). 1 in 10 engineers are women, but say career is more important than family and children and that eastern european women are gold diggers and not feminists like them. All these things show clearly that actually they are not equal and the german/italian guys provide more than romanian men need to.For them being career oriented means they go to work full time and not staying home with the kids, for romanians it means you are a manager/executive! Don't believe me? Check Eurostats!! I am sick and tired of these biases. I live in Germany and my german friends tell me how their moms work 1 day per week now that they are grown up. My mom woke up all her life at 5 AM to go to work and went to bed at 10PM ( holding a job, cleaning cooking and taking care of us kids) and most of the women did the same and this channel and western societies only focuses on who pays for dinner. Jesus!

I don’t care how busy your life is and how many glorious offers you’ve got from the competition, I don’t care for excuses. Just reschedule and show that you care, whenever you’re ready. I am Russian but was raised in Germany. I know both eastern and western mentality in dating and relationships.. I understand the Slavic women point of view based on their cultural background. And I don't think it's wrong. It's just how it works for them. There are always pros and cons. It is true that in Slavic tradition the man is the provider but it also somehow gives him the right to be "higher" than the women, to have the power, to decide. Slavic women often want that and are ready to obey, because it's easy when you don't need to decide, when you just can depend on one man.. But very often the man uses his power.. In Russia domestic violence is a huge problem.. In my opinion no extreme direction is ever right. I believe in nature. And nature made male and female creatures. There is a difference. Look at the wildlife.. Here the male have to impress and to convince the female. So.. this is how I understand feminism, haha. She somehow has the power! 😅 I am for equality in terms of everything and it's great that in our modern world people can stick to someone with the same opinions and expectations :) I really struggle with dating in Germany, because I try to find a way somehow inbetween. I don't get along with the traditional eastern European men but also I'm repulsed by guys who want a pretty girl but don't see how much costs and energy come with a female petty appearance, guys who aren't interested in the differences that come naturally with the gender.. I mean.. man just can't imagine how it is to bleed every month. They will never know how it feels to make a human being inside of oneself (by the way girls carry the higher risk in terms of contraception)..! Not to mention the range of different hormones that are constantly changing our mood.. There are so many scientific studies that make the differences between the genders clear. Yes, girls can be physically stronger than men but in my German surrounding for example for men it's just easier to lift heavy things or fix some technical stuff.. There are still "traditional" conditions.. And here is what I am looking for.. Just an understanding of our male and female nature given differences and complement each other without trying to take over the power.. Oh, it's a huge topic really, but very interesting and discussable! Interviews like that give us the chance to look at other cultural specialities, which I find wonderful! I don't think that the world should be globalised in every single way.. (:
@openbob6656 Жыл бұрын
so you say that because equality women should start paying for the date and like in the wildlife women should start to impress and convince males to accept dates from them? im sure men will never live to see that day coming. women are all only attracted to a small minority of men who have access to 90% of females because a thing called hypergamy exists it proves that women WANT men to provide for them and pay for everything and if guy doesn't do that they will automatically lose interest in that man.

Romance is much superior to conflict over power. We were going to the bank one day and my Russian woman gave me her hand and said, "Guide me." So I did. I can't imagine a Western woman doing that but there's no good reason to have conflict over things like that instead of enjoying each others company. Imagine having that life growing inside you and it's -40 outside and you're living in a log house. You want somebody to take care of you, right? These funny to us cultural quirks are why there are still Russians in the world. It was a matter of survival.

As a Georgian it's interesting that date paying and monogamy culture in Georgia is similar, but when it comes to dressing feminine, it's not necessary and there is not as big pressure to "put on makeup" or "dress feminine" as in Slavic countries. "Guys are visual types" - Not all. Georgian men would rather see you dress modest and plain than like a super star who grabs all the attention lol. I think this dressing aspect is more liberal influenced than conservative for Slavs. Also Good Education and career for a woman is really valued in Georgian Society.

I'm with Miss Ukraine 100% on this one. I'm not with the whole traditional gender roles, men Must do this, women must do this, etc. I like efficiency, compromise, and logical decisions. Gender norms seem illogical at times in these convos. Personality type, individual goals, and adaptation (to me) are wayyyy more important than all this other stuff about "emasculation" and women need to be "feminine" to get a man. Like, if you as a guy cant handle a woman paying for a date, you're fragile. If you as a woman always want to be submissive and dainty, feminine, and don't wish to have certain levels of autonomy, you better hope you don't get taken advantage of because [some] men will act like they "own you" if you act like you want to be "taken care of" all the time. That's how I feel about this and I'm a man.

It's fine if that's what they want, but i heavily disagree. it's not 'natural'. It's simply your feeling. As a woman i don't want a 'provider'. I want a partner. If I had to 'provide' income while he 'provides' home making skills' that's fine by me. Again, not saying they can't have what they want, just that this generalization is something I disagree with. I don't think there's this magic 'innate' thing that 'women' (or men) have. I agree with orange dress lady. And she does seem to disagree with many of it. But I could be wrong. For me it can end with just communication. If I love my man, then I'll give him anything. Gifts etc. IF that's what he wants. My man can just ask 'hey babe (or whatever lol) do you like surprises'. It's really just about communication. So yes, if my man insists on paying, ask him why. Because it's the manly thing to do or because you like it? (some people are just naturally happy being people pleasers, that's fine too) Also, please be careful with the 'men are visual creatures'. I am going to say I know thats not what she meant, but these type of rhetoric is used on women, blaming them for their assaults. Let me emphasize, she's not a bad person, but it perpetuates the idea that it's ok to say it.

Yes we should cater to women who want to be feminine and mothers and women who want to be independent and have careers. We should create that world that allow a woman to choose to be whatever they want. And no one side should be considered less than just because they want different things. That’s the disconnect I feel between traditional vs. independent women because both sides don’t feel like they’re seen by the other and feel like they’re less than if they don’t want to be a mother or vice versa a career woman.
@silveryfeather208 Жыл бұрын
@@abandonedfragmentofhope5415 exactly this. Thank you. Just leave people alone. Neither is bad nor good as long as you don't generalize. Many women of the past had lots of kids for fear of whatever (being called a spinster etc) how much of these women innately wanted kids? We don't know. I studied psychology and unless they have the studies that I am not aware of the whole "men are visual" is kind of bs. Men are no more nor less visual than women. I know they mention its just a fun video and not to go too deep. I just respectfully disagree. These type of stuff just interest me. tldr. Just communicate people... And mind your own business. Stop (not saying the ladies in the video) getting mad if others choose to stay at home or be boss lady. Who cares

Completely agree, it's mostly societal. I've had a few female friends (not dates) pay for my coffee, and I definitely didn't feel insecure about it. I just thought it was nice of them, and I immediately viewed them in a better light. Frankly, I think that the understanding of these things depends a lot more on the intelligence of an individual, rather than their country. Every country has some good and some stupid customs, but if you're smart enough to judge for yourself, and the law doesn't abide you to anything (like in some muslim nations), then these customs don't matter all that much. What sucks is that most people are conformist, and especially women, due to higher level of agreeableness. Most women just go along with their home culture, never questioning a thing. To meet women who are not like that is a breath of fresh air tbh.
@silveryfeather208 Жыл бұрын
@@temporelucemtenebris5313 exactly. Most of my problems with people is that people defend their culture through the bias that, my culture has to be right and only my culture. Respect for a woman, yes, of course all women deserve respect! And yes a man is expected to be a provider, but to his wife, family and kids, not to a woman he first met and wants to go on a date with. If we are going out, we are splitting the bill, even on a first date, yes we are splitting the bill! Not until I am into a serious relationship with a woman, and not until I know what she feels, and I am certain that she wants more than just dates am I willing to start taking care for a woman. Until than, she is an emancipated woman, who can take care of herself, and pay her own share. Men, have more respect for yourself, your work and time, and don't allow women to use you, set the boundaries from the first day. And if we are all talking about traditionalism, I gotta point out that the modern concept of dating and hook up culture isn't part of a traditional society. Courtship is, yes the man is the leading side in courtship, but it goes both ways and a woman has to make an effort also, during the courtship. Respecting a woman 's boundaries during the courtship period is important, than asking the blessings of her parents, marriage, etc., that's the traditional way. And in some cultures a man is supposed first to go and ask the blessings and allowance of a woman's parents before even engaging into courtship. Otherwise the other way around is a major sign of disrespect.

I think some points need to cleared from the comment section. “feminine” and “traditional” in Slavic countries does NOT mean: 1. Being submissive 2. Being housewife Those are western ideas. Feminine in SC simply means you are caring, dress and behave with certain aura, enhance your feminine features, etc. Masculine means you are gentleman, protective, strong (not dominant or provider). Most ppl in Slavic countries cannot live from one salary. Golden diggers immigrating to the west might be a different category.

But what they gained afterwards, they build, sacrificed and acquired together as a family. You all don't want a woman that marries you for a fancy cars, apartments and money. That goes both ways, cause nowadays the roles are reversed, so that can be valid for a woman's side too. I am Russian-Irish, having grown up both in Eastern and Western Europe and I feel a little bit strange about the final part of this video, discussing how “Western values” have entered Slavic culture and now women are overwhelmed. On my Russian side, my grandmother and both great-grandmothers worked and some were even the breadwinners of their families, meanwhile in Ireland it wasn’t until the 1970s that women were allowed to keep their jobs if they got married and wanted to have children. Also, I would like to point out that in the United States, the post-war period strongly encouraged women to stay at home and keep house, so much so, that its glamorisation in the media translates into reality TV and pop culture of the 2000s, even given the fact that American society pushed for female empowerment, liberalisation, equality and the sexual revolution. Why I feel strange about the points some of the women in the video have made - in the so-called “Western” society, being a housewife was a lot more prevalent and encouraged than in the European part of Russia, or other ex-Soviet countries, where women have had a high workforce participation rate. We need to consider the conditions under which these things are possible and impossible - free healthcare, childcare, education, maternity leave, social insurance. They are not the same across countries that would have adopted different ideologies of economic planning. As for women being overwhelmed with balancing family and career - no argument against it being challenging and exhausting. Women who have a family, loving relationship with their partner, a career (or even a job that ensures them with financial stability and independence), and/or are pursuing further education are powerhouses and have my utmost respect. However I do not believe that this is the fault of the Western society that they are exhausted and unhappy. I am under the impression that Slavic societies pressure women to have a family and children at a young age (aka below 30, or even 25), and some do not have a full grasp of how many resources one has to invest to have a family, not just financially, but also emotionally. You have to commit to compromises and sacrifice parts of yourself to dedicate them to your partner and children (who are dependent on you!!!!), which limits your growth in spheres like career or even personal interests and hobbies. Many women do not realise that and thus could have regrets about having children or getting married as they lament a part of themselves that they never have had the chance to develop. This can happen in any culture, in any country and is mainly down to the individual level, in my opinion.

As a Slavic Canadian I think the whole seeing multiple people thing is dumb. It’s a way for some people to get away with getting benefits from multiple people without committing. It’s sleazy.

I am a Bulgarian man and I can say that it is true that women here expect to be paid all the time which I find very frustrating and unfair for men. Its not fair because as man you have to pay for her until she decides "if she like you or not" and sex is not guaranteed even if you paid her a lavish dinner or something. And another thing, eastern European women tend to complain all the time about everything and they are also very boring and you as a man have to maintain conversation the whole time to 'entartain' her. They don't know much about the world and are a bit stiff and closeminded. I think on average they are prettier than most western European and more family oriented but be sure that they have some hidden minuses. They are not that perfect as they look for sure. It comes to what a man is looking for, if these minuses are acceptable or not. Its not all women like that but I think most are very close to that description, sorry if I offend anyone. I lived in 7 countries so far and that is my view, cheers.

Just stop being a slave and don't pay anymore. Simple. Problem solved. If most men do this then females will change immediately.

You might be finding these women in the wrong place or attracting the wrong kind of women. I know exactly the type you're talking about but I know so many of them that are not like that.

Actually the family propaganda is just that. You have more divorces and less children than wealthy westerners. Which is only natural given that sexist mentality you described.

The Serbian woman is really invested in gender roles and talked down others to make sure it was known lol. I agree a lot with the Ukrainian woman, and totally get what she means when explaining that societal norms are still stuck in the past a lot (grandparents generation) but that on an individual basis (especially younger generations) it’s different and varies from person to person because things are changing. But it definitely seems like majority of Slavic cultures still are into gender roles right now, at least based on hearing this group.

Traditions have died and gone. We are living in different times where the men don't need to do chivalrous things anymore ..like paying for your steak. Pay your own bill. I ask you out you could say no.. When you said yes it is an agreement for both parties to pay their own meal on the first date.

If you want 50/50 then date a woman who agrees with that. Why try to convince the ones who don't want that?

👉 Females must work, be feminine to attract men and be submissive to men. this think that females should not work and just be a parasite on the shoulders of the men and expect that men should pay everything is stupid, but even some men support it. This is not feminism, this is normalism.
