It's interesting. Most cards go down, but a select few go up when they are rarer than expected. Time will tell.

@@zaking90 Yeah, spot on. If you want to be fiscally responsible, just wait like at least two weeks. For commons uncommons, sure, you can always find a seller (at least on cardmarket in europe) who will sell them for like 2-5 cents each but rares/mythics take a bit longer to settle. I think people like to deceive themselves a bit, thinking "I bought that one rare for 2 bucks and now it's 10 bucks. I'm such a shrewd investor" but the reality is, they bought a ton of rares for around 2 bucks, which now sit at 10 cents, completely eradicating any speculative "gain". If you're going to pay release hype prices for singles, you might as well crack boosters. But If you're purely looking for value per buck, wait at least two weeks, but everything you think is cool for like 50 cents and accept that you're not going to play with whatever is going to be chace. Quite honestly, so many cards nowadays are busted strong that if you don't play competitive, you can safely ignore chase stuff and simply get creative with niche but incredibnly powerful stuff. Every set now has a ton of cards that at every rarity that's just... good. People talk about powercreep when they see that green 8/8 trample for 5 with a cycling ability but powercreep or just generally "awesome card density" has been nuts at all rarities lately. There was a time when most commons or uncommons would never be relevant outside of limited. Now, you can basically look at any uncommon and, even if it's niche, it will be very strong in some deck. There's just way less... useless stuff in packs nowadays. No more "zephyr spirits" or whatever.
