I am a personal trainer. It’s been only 4 years coaching but I am realizing that trainers should not be certified without at least passing something like Calimove’s level 1 mobility training program. Yes, it is that essential. A coach who can move freely himself should be the only one eligible to teach. I am embarrassed, I found this too late. But it’s helping already .. me and my clients are benefiting from their program that costs less than one training session with any trainer. These guys are truly a blessing. Pain-free body is the first step to a strong body. Thank you!

I follow your program since January. I've already done lvl 2 and am in lvl 3 of Complete Calisthenics. I love it. It's very well structured and balanced. But some days are just very long. I do 8-10 minutes warm-up (of your design) and sometimes I add a little bit to it. Just as you mentioned here - functional stuff, like Hip Flexor warm-up before L-sit. And with that I spent 1h40m on my exercises two times a week and around 50m on another 2 days. On every of those days you need to add around 30 minutes for getting to the gym, changing, taking a shower after and such. This is a lot. I would really like to add some post workout stuff but I really can't spent nearly a quarter of my of-work time on exercises. As much as I love this advice - this is stuff for really committed people. I try to do your "Do this every morning", possibly will extend it a little bit. But that's that for now. ;)
@calimove5 жыл бұрын
Yeah i know this problem. When you want to learn harder exercises (and later skills) you have to train for max strength and this requires longer rest times. In your case I suggest a short 10 minute warm up with a few mobility exercises or a short mobility routine in the morning (like you already do it) .
@Rig_JW5 жыл бұрын
This is it - rest times. Mostly for Skin The Cat and L-Sit + large number of sets. But I can see results. My posture is a lot better and relative strength went up a lot. Will need to work on strength endurance later on. And I just love those early skills. They feel good, they look good and I know they work wonders. Till now I had only problems with Skin The Cat - technique-wise. It's not that easy to feel the right shoulder placement when going through front lever down.

Beev I don't know man for me when i stretch after workout i feel relief on my muscles and the next day i'm less sore, i dont think passive stretching after workouts are bad i think thats a lie, in training the muscles contracts and with stretching they expand and allow the blood and energy to flow better, i have to disagree with calimove in this one, but well do wethever you feel like 👍

They talk about long passive stretching. It's good to stretch muscles you worked out after for the reasons someone mentioned above me (like stretching contracted muscles) but with dynamic stretches, short passive stretching and mobility exercises. If you want to do long passive stretching, like you said stretch muscles you didn't work out or even do it outside of your typical workout (eg i have to thoroughly stretch my legs cause of hip issues but i do it as a separate thing - little warmup and then just stretching). At least that's the way I understood

What about the long passive stretching reps in the advanced mobility skills of the mobility program? 2 minutes seems like a long time. How should that fit in to a larger workout routine?
@johnlee76995 жыл бұрын
Very good question... Particularly since they say that passive stretching isn't helpful in the long term
@eleggs5 жыл бұрын
They are for supporting the skills by relaxing antagonists so that you can get a higher active end range of motion. But still they are not co completely passive as we explained. You should still keep some tension in the agonists.
@nathanswenson20735 жыл бұрын
@@eleggs , so for example: for the pre front spit, you should still keep tension in the hamstring in front of you and the hip flexor behind you? You kinda describe PNF stretching in the video where you then relax the muscles in question to get deeper. Basically are you saying that PNF stretching is not passive so is ok?
@eleggs5 жыл бұрын
@@nathanswenson2073 I rather mean to keep the antagonists under tension. So the front quad and the rear hamstring. But it's also ok if you alternate it with tensing the agonists and hold the tension for some seconds.

@techerdanny18435 жыл бұрын
Yes if this this not painful
@KillaByt3z5 жыл бұрын
You should definitely stretch if you have tendonitis, but you'll need to find a comfortable level to stretch at. Overstretching will just cause inflammation making you sore for days. Try and find a balance where you can stretch the following day as well and not be too sore. This is speaking from personal experience. I started having trouble with tendonitis in the past few years. I had to change how I was stretching, but I'm still making progress with flexibility.

great video! have you done a video on elbow pain from calisthenics? ( tennis elbow )
@DChris35 жыл бұрын
One thing that helps is training the other parts of your forearm (extensors, not just flexors) since grip might be overdeveloped. I think a good one to start with is getting a bucket of rice (to add resistance) and doing many motions of the wrist (circles, open/close hand, etc)...also, it could be imbalance in the shoulder girdle or upper spine...The elbow is similar in the knee in that the dysfunction of these joints often comes from the "mobile" joints above and below them; many runners with knee problems have unbalanced hip/glute muscles, or ankle/foot issues. Many elbow issues are more to do with the grip/forearm, or the shoulder/spine. Cheers bro.
