How I trained my dog, many years ago. It didn't take long before I didn't even need to walk her on a leash. She would never run off or do anything she knew not to do without my command; it became more of a feeling like taking a walk with a human friend, minus the conversation. I would get compliments on her "manners" from other dog walkers. Miss her immensely.

My baby was like that, too, would never run off from me. backyard or front yard She doesn’t need a leash. She hoes to do her business and comes back. but sadly she passed on the table, cold, during a dental cleaning under anaesthetic as the age of seven. I lost her like that, two weeks after my wedding. Had her ever since I moved to Canada, all through my college years. now I’m settled with my own shop, she has left me.

This is so cute. I actually have the opposite problem with my Italian Greyhound puppy. So far, with a lot of treats, he'll take a few steps outside but as soon as I run out of treats he bolts back inside. So, now we are practicing just looking out the window lol.

We need to see a video on how you handle this training with a puppy who doesnt behave perfectly, please. This video creates unrealistic expectations about how hard training a puppy really is. My 12 week old Leonberger puppy is 16 kilograms already and will go for the door if i even open it a little. She also is really easily distracted and finds it really hard to focus on me or a stay with al sorts of distractions around (like the outdoors).

Fantastic on every level. You inspire!!! I'm taking on training my own PTSD Psychiatric Service dog in Canada. Yes, I do have decades of informal experience and relevant skills with humans. I will seek mentorship on many levels. Currently I'm very focused on training my 16 week Mexican mix female stray puppy that was abandoned in a bucket with her sister in a vacant lot. Almost dead, now they both thrive. So proud of them! They are so healthy, loyal, loved, and smart!! Your channel is my number ONE choice when I need guidance and resources. My decision to do this is inspired by this channel, using your tactics, and watching in a bit of awe at how fast Zion learns. Much respect and many thank-you!!!! ❤

I've trained two of my own psychiatric service dog and I am getting my next prospect next month! My first 2 were adopted, my new prospect is a standard poodle! I've wanted to groom dogs since I was 4, now I'm 18 and my dream will finally come true! My cousin breeds and shows poodles so I got a heavy discount on them! She only made me pay for the vet and food costs of the pup, which was 300 dollars. Without her, I would have never been able to get a doggo from a good breeder. My puppies mum shows, and his dad shows and hunts. Hopefully he won't have a high drive... Training is easy if you do the research and take your time, always set low expectations for your dogs. The smaller the steps, the better! My first service dog was adopted when I was 6, she was a pet until I was about 11. I had no friends and my mum left me and my dad when I was about 4, Lola was my best friend and she was like a mother to me, my dad and I trained her daily since we got her. We took her to pet friendly places all the time, so when I was diagnosed with a lot of mental issues when I was 11, she became my service dog. She already alerted to me crying, scratching myself, and other things, and she did DPT naturally. I researched the laws and my grandma preformed the public access test on us before I took her to school so I knew she would be perfect. You don't have to do a public access test, but it helps a lot if you do! You can download a template or watch some videos and write down what you need to do. It goes through everything a service dog will have to do, or will encounter during an outing, so if they have a problem with a certain thing, you can work to fix the issue. Lola became a service dog when she was about 4, she worked until she was 10 because she developed arthritis, she started taking joint supplements and she was back to her old self but I still didn't want to strain her body, so she only came with me on very short trips, doctors visits, and car rides after she retired. She lived to be 12.5 years old, a tumor ruptured in her stomach and she had to be rushed to the vet, the couldn't save her so we euthanized her and cremated her. She was a chihuahua pitbull mix and she was AMAZING!

Just a suggestion. You might want to use bells hung on the door knob, that the dog can hit to alert you, rather than scratching on the door itself. Having three dogs myself, two of which are giant breeds, I can only imagine that door after 5 years of scratching...lol. But, hey, whatever works for you.

Ok, so, yes, she learned very quickly to go outside means to sit by the door as a sign that she wants to go out. Now. She's silent. I mean, insanely silent dog, never had a pup like this. Not mute, she just doesn't make a sound unless i leave her alone. How do i get her to wake me up, or bark that she wants to go outside in the night time? I don't do grate training, and so far we've only had few accidents. But she uses the same sign - sitting by the door- in the night time and she doesn't wake me up. And as proud as that polite asking makes me, I'm conserned, because all the other dogs came and woke me up to get outside and she doesn't do it. Any suggestions how to teach her to mark her need? How to teach her to, like, use a doorbell or something?

If a bell is too expensive then you unfortunately have no business owning a dog. Annuals, heartworm, unexpected health issues, etc cost many thousands of dollars. A bell shouldn’t even be the slightest of concerns cost wise.

It's the same concept for a trained or untrained dog, it's not that hard to train a dog how to do this. If you have a problem doing it, you aren't being patient enough. I recently trained my grandmas aggressive 2 year old untrained and stubborn aussie how to do this, it's VERY simple, this is one of the easiest things you can train. I trained my own service dog when I was 11, if you can't even train your dog how to simply wait at a door, you don't deserve a dog.
