I have always admired relationships like these, where the parent’s friends become a part of the family and take on the role as uncle’s and aunt’s. The way Adam stepped up when Sal and his daughter needed him, made me feel emotional. You guys are lucky to have eachother. I hope that i someday get good friends like that who can be there for my future children❤️

Thank you so much for your awesome content! New listener, 46-year-old mama, been "working out" most of my life but only recently have accepted my body type and all its glory, and am now focused on gaining muscle and staying strong. For the past 2 months minimized my workouts to 3 days of lifting, and prioritizing protein; ignoring my weight in pounds I've slowly seen fat percentage going down and muscle going up. Am sharing your channel with others.👊👏

I feel that goals is a thing of the past. A year or so I stopped setting goals and start setting or making objectives. Some people make goals that are unattainable and unrealistic. A goal is a desired outcome. It’s big picture, long-term, and difficult to measure. An objective is a step along the journey of your strategy. It’s specific, short- or medium-term, and quantifiable - a measurable milestone along a journey that’s been carefully mapped out to get you exactly where you want to be. Wellness, Health and fitness working out is a lifestyle and a journey. The process may be hard, however, the journey is so much sweeter.

Yes! The moment I get the notification of a new episode, I HAVE TO click it! After taking a near six year hiatus from weight training (after wife and I had twins), I started lifting weights again about six weeks ago, about the same time I discovered this podcast. So much value added, every day! Definitely inspiring me to start my own podcast to add value to others (real estate related though).

My general goal has always been to look good with my shirt off, which is superficial but hey that's me. But a very specific goal I've had is to do power cleans perfectly, which is probably not doable because it can't be quantified. I mean, what is a perfect clean? Who measures that? So my pursuit of that unachievable goal is what keeps me going and has gotten me into pretty good shape. And years of cleans have given me banging traps without ever doing a shrug, which was something I never cared about having. So I would say pick a small goal that can have wide ranging benefits. It doesn't matter if you reach an end point because all of the good stuff will happen along the way.

I can relate to Sal’s daughter’s incident with the boys. I met my husband in 7th grade. I thought he was cute but he was 4 inches shorter than me so I was hesitant to pursue him. One of my friends really liked him but she was incredibly shy so I offered to communicate to him on her behalf. As a result, I got to know him and we became friends. I started to like him but kept it private out of respect for my friend. One day, he got the impression that a group of us girl were making fun of him so he wrote me a mean note, cussing me out. It broke my heart. I cried all day. When I got home from school, I showed the letter to my mom. She asked if any of the other girls had received similar notes to which I replied no. She pointed out that he likely had a crush on me and didn’t know how to communicate it effectively. That was all my 12 yo heart needed to hear. My friend who had a crush on him moved to another school district the following year and we eventually started dating in the 9th grade, got married after college, and have been married for 13+ years.

I had a fitness goal of getting to 19% body fat. I got there and exactly thought what now? You absolutely hit the nail on the head. I wasn't happy with the constant weighing and tracking food, the hour long workouts that I would get bored of. The bad habits it caused like binging. I still occasionally track to make sure I get enough protein and switched to the 20 min workout after I heard that podcast. I pick what compound lift I want switching from upper to lower body. Sometimes I look at my watch and its been 35 min. Its awesome! Thank you!!!

Thank you, guys! Three months ago I hired a virtual trainer who has been great. I’ve developed a much better relationship with food and shifted my mindset to long term sustainability. Many of the things he teaches I find here as well. At 55yo I’m feeling so much better than I did decades ago. My contract will be up at the end of the year, but I know I’ll be able to keep it up. Thanks to him. And thanks to MindPump.

The notion of NOT attaching myself to goals strongly resonates with me. At 53 years young, my whole fitness life and mentality is to stay healthy. My Suspension trainer and Kettlebells I see as useful tools to help me. Like brushing your teeth, driving a car, I view fitness as a lifelong companion. Thanks Sal, Adam Justin. Hey guys I found you recently and I've been really blessed by all the information you guys share. I'm a first time mum to a 6 month old. Before and during pregnancy I basically did home workouts and would just use dumbbells and glute resistance bands. I'm getting back into fitness and I want to lose a little weight and build muscle. I've lost most of it. I hate tracking and your tips on how to eat intuitively have been really useful. Watching my baby struggle to learn to sit , crawl is my biggest motivation. Babies work really hard😅

Hi guys, another brilliant episode!! 👏 I am what they call a type A personality, basically I can become very obsessive about my goals. I have been training for over 30 years and fallen into the trap of overtraining followed by burnout way too many times !! As I got older ( I am now 51 😱) I have learned to listen to my body rather than my mind. As a type A personality , I need goals as I need something to focus on, but having smaller short term goals has been a life saver , just like you suggested on.your podcast .... for example aim at doing 3 sessions only this week ( as opposed to 7 sessions as I used to!) , go for 30-45 mins walk today , etc.. as not only it helps towards the bigger goals , but the feeling of achievement boosts your self confidence too! Woth budget very tight at the moment , I have been saving a bit each month to buy your anabolic program as I feel that would help me considerably to control overtraining obsession in the gym too ( I still have days when I struggle to not do too much in the gym although I have managed to cut my weekly gym sessions down to 3 days a week) and would then love to continue through your programs after anabolic to continue in my ultimate goal of staying active and healthy in my old age ! Thank you so much for all your excellent content !! 🙂 🙏

I really appreciate your take on fitness and sharing your valuable knowledge. Being an individual who has been working out since mid 90s and sticking to bro splits I appreciate the different perspective. Just finished reading The resistance training revolution (great book). I’ve been following the first phase of MAPS anabolic and feel great. Being almost 50 bro splits just wasn’t the thing for me. I plan on getting MAPS anabolic but needed to give my family some ideas for Christmas so we will see if the wife and kids come through. If they don’t I will be purchasing myself. Again thanks for sharing all your wisdom and insights on fitness and not being like the other phony influencers out there!

Hi guys, all of you are awesome! Well, im learning english with you guys, im listening you guys while im training! Question, I started a job with children and I spend all 7 hours moving, my days are more tired and I have lowered my performance in the gym, I have not been able to continue gaining weight in most of my exercises because I wake up tired and I have to reserve energy for my day. What can I do to increase my strength, I try to train 5 times a week, the weekend a little heavier and during the week 1 hour with a lower weight, I consume around 1800 calories a day during the week and the weekend a little more but not so healthy.

So glad you guys talked about Dahmer. I agree about the potential for others on the edge to now want to act out being a serial killer. But…I also think the show was soooo well done and I liked that they did so much character development of the victims and gave the victims and families a voice. I thought this was a unique aspect of the show compared to other serial killer shows out there. Also, I cooked ribs in the crockpot when we were watching the show and I couldn’t eat them, I was repulsed by the meat 😅😂
