after reading davids book (im at chapter 9) I have realized things about myself, that were always right there right in front of me. like, my love for cooking. I always procrastinated, until now, all of a sudden I realize how pulling out the pan, openeing the fridge to take out the food, getting the knife, the cutting board, how that all sparks something in me, like I am so elevated in my energy. I never realized that it was okay for me to pursue this feeling of goodness in me. I always felt I had to keep still, keep quiet, stand back, wait. no more of that. let me tell you that, I redecorated my home in a week, while studying for the exams, while being a single mom with two kids, cooking, cleaning, etc. i used to feel slain. now I'm like, what's next, let's go. I never thought I could regain my willpower, I thought I was a victim of my circumstances. for real. I am not, because I can be MORE than my circumstances. I AM MORE THAN MY CIRCUMSTANCES. THANK YOU DAVID.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but people who have the support of at least one parent or both, usually tend to do better in life. Us who have no parents, who are on our own, and who on top of that experience all sorts of crap, we might feel broken for decades, before that strength starts to take shape. thats why its so important David reminds us that we can overcome our difficult childhoods and youths, that we can go against the anxiety and the belief that we are slain. that getting back up, thats then wehere that strength is shaped. but it takes a lot. it takes for someone like david to be so articulate to speak to our hearts. but yeah, you find no stronger person than the one who overcame their difficult past. absolutely not, so let's turn it into our advantage, starting today. i controle my mind, not my past controls it.
@1600-i6p3 жыл бұрын
@@theyowoman in my view it's not the circumstances that hold us back. It's merely genetic that people who make their kids' lives hard out of incompetence or weakness will tend to have weak and incompetent children. But genetics aren't 100% of who you are and are not always the reason a parent was screwed up. So you see people slip through the cracks and succeed after having a hard life, but it's extremely difficult due to their circumstances and often their genetic disposition as well.

I am a narcissist survivor and I was in depression for 8 years, I still have anxiety but I am trying to heal that. Everything starts with childhood. We can't forgive some things, we are constantly living in the past and that experience makes us fear that the future will be the same. The strange thing is that I could give inspirational speeches to everyone in my life and incourage them to improove themselves but I was at my lowest low and couldn't get out of there. The truth is that I didn't know how to take care of myself and love myself . That's when you attract a lot of manipulative people and you also become toxic for others, because your energy is becoming theirs, your mindset is programmed to think bad and to never find a solution in any situation. It's like yor soul is telling you - I am not worthy, I can't do anything, I don't deserve happiness... 1. I found out I am adopted by my best friend who told me that in the worse moment of my life ( I made jokes about that and understood why they didn't told me, and got over it) 2. I left university I had no job, but I did many freelace jobs 3. I found out I am a part of the lgbt living in conservative country 4. I found out that I am traumatized because of the school abuse 5. I tried suicide and people didn't thought it was serious, I have a scar on my arm that will always remind me not on my suicide try, but on how strong I really am. I wrote on the paper all bad things about me and that list was the biggest list in my life, then I realized, what if I write only good things about me? You know what happend? 1. I cut off everyone who hurt me and didn't see my worth. 2. I made time for myself, trying to figure things out. ( I was all alone, and scared, but I knew it was a right thing to do) 3. I met fantastic people, so different that the ones I knew before that made my journey seen, heard and understood. I felt accepted. 4. I accepted my sexuality and my way of seeing the world differently, that's when I found a great love relatioship that learn me how to be patient and calm, how to love myself even more. 5. I found my passion and I realized this always has been my passion, but I thought it was stupid thing to do. I just want to tell you to never underestimate yourself, you really don't know how much power you have. Love❤️

My comment to Jay Shetty and David Groggins ---------------------------------------------- Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thankyou for the tears that your clarity, direction, and relatability of likeminded perceptions, has evoked from me whilst watching this clip. Thank you, to the both of you, so so greatly. Im an eternal optimist, a spiritually enlightened individual, humanitarian, as a youth i was not without my trauma either, but where for all others that would have been the catalyst for trouble, i observed, learned, and it moulded the heart i have for the world. And i have always worn my heart on my sleeve proudly, believing i am as honest outwardly as i am inwardly, but thanks to some cold hearted actions from people i once loved, collectively accumulating to the point that i found solace and content in a meth addiction for the last 7 years. And like a narcissist whom knowingly uses and willingly abuses in others, ive actually been doing it to myself. Using my body to exist, and get by on the public stage, but behind the closed doors of my own thoughts, i hit the mute button cause i jus dont want to hear it. Thus i have been living conveniently disassociated from, myself. Avoiding letting my own emotions be felt, the convenience of ignorance so easy when the serotonin is induced, and meanwhile as the lack of internal dialogue is happening, the silence only furthers to validate the true fear, that its just to hard to lay it all out on the table, knowing the conversation i would have with myself will always end up with the mirror saying the crushing final blow reality check catchphrase of "i make the bed i lay in", and now at the ripe old age of 38 next week, that all just seems so overwhelming a task to turn around at this point in my life that i will once again jus curl up on a couch and detach from myself and society altogether for enough days until i have forgotten it or put the honesty back in the lock-box cortex of my mind from which it came... So with my optimism in hand, and ignorance at my back, there aint a situation aside from that above of which i fear. Until judgement day..... But you both just brought that day forward 40 or so odd years. And i feel i may have just been reborn. Thank you.

Thank you, Jay for doing these podcasts in this cloistered time and for collaborating with other experts. Especially for those who can't or won't seek counselling or self-examination. Your motivation (and research) is really inspiring.

I always learn something more when I listen to him, my mum used to call my dad an armchair observer because he let life pass him by, also I think truly real survivors are people that didn’t get a choice about being in hell , holocaust victims come to mind. Got to admire survivors

Great job Jay and as always David I love listening to a warrior like you, and let me tell you both I love my scar's they make for a road map that help guide me on which way to go, without them I would be blind.🙏
