Iron and a protein known as transferrin play a key role in the creation of red blood cells within the body. This explains why those with iron deficiency anemia tend to have a low hemoglobin count. Therefore, in order to increase the amount of iron in the body, you can try to add more iron-rich foods to your diet.
🟦 Some examples include:
- Broccoli
- Kale
- Spinach
- Cabbage
- Beef
- Beans
- Lentils
- Shellfish
➡️ Eat Foods That are High in Folate
Folate is a type of B vitamin that the body uses to produce more hemoglobin within the blood. Without this critical vitamin, your red blood cells will not be able to develop and mature as they normally would.

- Peanuts
- Beef

Before doing so, please check with your doctor first because they will know more about your individual medical condition. Having an iron deficiency is one of the leading causes of a low hemoglobin count.

We've already established that it's important to increase your iron intake because it's directly correlated with hemoglobin production. Once iron has been consumed, it needs to be absorbed rather than being flushed back out of the body and wasted away. Drinking chlorophyll mixed w/water is what raised my dad’s hemoglobin levels from a dangerously low 6.2 up to in the 9’s w/in a day. We watched his low hemoglobin levels raise up over n over again over a 2 yr period by drinking chlorophyll in water. Blood tests were continually done bc he couldn’t leave the hospital/rehab until his levels were decent. It was undeniable. Now we give him chlorella/spiralina tablets several times a week to keep those hemoglobin levels up.

I had low hemoglobin reading of 8 before, during a stressful time in my life. Since we received free medical at the government clinics, the doctor gave me continuous supply of OBERMIN pills, usually prescribed for pregnant women to avoid anemia. It took 2 years to climb to reading 12hb but I still have to continue taking OBERMIN.

Spinach and Swiss Chard - have oxalates - which bind to the iron and it won't absorb. (Dr. Eric Berg)

This is weird I also saw this with eggs. It has both iron and calcium yet it’s blocking it’s own absorption? Is calcium also being not absorbed?

Dark Chocolate has oxolates too. Iron also needs vitamin C.

How about people like me with beta thalassemia major? We have way too much iron in the blood because we get blood transfusions every 20 days. We should not eat foods that have too much iron, but we still want to boost hemoglobin.

Eggs block iron from ELEMENTAL iron sources like pills. The iron that is in eggs is HEME iron which is not blocked by caffeine, eggs, dairy.

@@maddworld3317 I'm trying to get mine up, too. It dropped from 8 to 4 and now I need a iron transfusion. While taking a iron supplement it's important to combine it with vitamin C. The V-C helps the body to absorb the iron.

None of these you' ve mention,ever increased hemoglobine.Following my Physiology Professor advice,15 years later,I increased my Hb from 8 to 14( cut some zeroes,to make you understand faster,14 being perfect). I gave the same advice to those who had the same problem.Never failed.Wish you well !

BEEF should be at the top. Liver and spleen particulary. These are the biggest most bioavail sources with complete amino acids for uptake.

I was dismayed because I was not able to catch the mesg. My husband's haemoglobin was not going up so a blood transfusion had to be made. If I had read this earlier, I might have saved his life. He underwent a series of dehydration because the doctor assigned to him tried to reduce the edema by feeding him furosemide. His edema went down, (don't know the right term) but he was dehydrated. Cant drink nor eat until he died of extreme thirst and hunger.

Doctors have so little knowledge about nutrition in general. They simply don't have it in their medical training. So they give vague answer or brush the question off. I need then to ask a specialized nutrition doctor.

Is your hemoglobin suppose to be at 115 or at 15 I see different things which is making it confusing some places I see it shouldn’t be less then 12 but others say that is still extremely low; it should be No less than 100 Someone please tell me the correct information

Yeah it is confusing.. Same with nuts they said it has iron but it contains tannins and phytate so meaning it is iron blocker too.
