I wish i had that pilot bit. Ive had to drill about 100 of these using a dummy strap.

I know what you mean ! Getting hot bits of metal on your skin isnt fun .You can drill out the threads on small strap t saddles with 1.25 in hole saw . But only good for small size pipe for 1 in outlet.

We're do you get that from that clamp that goes on pipe?
@SprinklerFitting4 ай бұрын
Its called a Pilot Clamp . Sprinkler wholesale might sell them . You can also google the name . National Fire Pilot Clamp . Comes in a yellow box .

Bad teaching,always file any hole.
@SprinklerFitting2 жыл бұрын
If you want to file and get wet then file away . If you don't damage the surface area where the rubber sits then I rarely use the file. This is service work and most times the water doesn't stop . If I notice lines or gouges then I use a floppy disc with a portable grinder . The benefits of using the pilot clamp is it leaves a clean surface . The saddle sits inside past the sharp edge of the pipe anyway. File to much and it removes the protective coating on the pipe that could cause problems years later. When I first started I was file crazy but got tired of losing or buying files.

the hanger are very close to your sprinkler..

It is a pendant sprinkler in ceiling below. If it was an upright exposed sprinkler then nfpa 13 says minimum 3 inches away.

What city do you work for Johnson Controls in? Some of the gear your using is a dead giveaway cause it’s the same as everything I have lol. Gloves, bump camp, high vis vest, and goggles.

What about the pump pressure? Water are going down is it balance or pressuris?
@SprinklerFitting3 жыл бұрын
The water is not under pressure as i closed the valve and drained the water . The water you see is trapped water .

I guess there is no need to get the burs filed off……
@SprinklerFitting10 ай бұрын
Not really ,hole saw cuts clean hole , if the area where the rubber sits has scratches or burrs then i would file ,

Can i ask why u still use a pilot bit when using a pilot clamp? I never do, it seems to me that its a waste of time and a waste of pilot bits
@SprinklerFitting Жыл бұрын
Because 50 % of the time the coupon shoots down the pipe and becomes a pain to get out even with a magnet stuffed inside the pipe .If the pipe is being fabbed on the ground ok i will use pilot clamp without the pilot bit . When im drilling into an existing pipe in the air then i use the arbour with pilot bit .
