Faith in jesus produces true repentance

Repentance is a part of salvation, and Jesus did preach it. Repentance means "Change your mind" to believe in Jesus. So you need to change your mind about WHAT you believe so you could believe the right thing! And the right and saving thing is to believe that Jesus is God in human form, who lived a perfect life to represent you, Taking your sins on Him at the cross, taking the punishment you deserve so as the representative of human kind, you can be saved because the cost for your sins was payed in full For those who believe Jesus was raised from the dead. So don't go to an extreme and say we ought not include repentance in our gospel! Only define repentance RIGHTLY! It doesn't mean "try hard to stop sinning!" It means change your mind from not trusting God alone to go to heaven to believing in Him alone to be saved from hell!

Repentance is more than just changing your mind about who Jesus is. Repentance is a decision that you make to turn away from your sins to follow Jesus.

GoodNews777, 1 John 1:8 says, 'If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.' Repentance to turn from sin is not a condition of salvation. That equals works based salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 says 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.' A gift is something freely received and not earned. James 2:10 says, 'For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.' The Mosaic Law was works based salvation. To believe we must earn our way to salvation we are basically putting regressing to legalism. Besides it is impossible not to sin. Proverbs 20:9 says 'Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am cleansed from my sin"?' Romans 3:10 says 'As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one.' No one means no one! Even the best saint there is would still sin. Isaiah 64:10 says, 'But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.' It is impossible for anyone to reach God's standards on their own and to try to do so is to say Christ's payment on the cross was insufficient. Jesus paid it all! It is finished forever if you would but believe on Jesus Christ. He paid our sin debt and we have nothing to pay. John 3:36 says, 'He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.'

Not all repentance has to do with turning away from sin. In the Old Testament God repented. Exodus 32:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people

GoodNews777 we are commanded to believe. That is it. Once you believe in your heart the Lord Jesus you experience a spiritual circumcision made without hands, putting off the sins of the flesh, you are then indwelled with the Holy Ghost, and you are immediately seated in Christ in heavenly places. This is a sealed covenant between you and your Savior Jesus Christ. Nothing you can do will separate you from Christ. He paid for all of your sins, past, present and future. All you have to do is claim that work/gift for yourself. There is no loss of salvation, but there is loss of rewards 1 Corinthians 3:15 King James Version (KJV) 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

The love of God leads us to repentance

Hey friends thanks for your comments. I was just looking some of them over then I thought I should mention something about the word repent because some are having a hard time with it in light of salvation being of grace without works. Repent has several definitions in the Greek and Hebrew. Every time repent is referenced in relationship for salvation it always means to have a change of mind. If we believe the word repent always means to turn from sin we would have heresy in our teaching, because in the old testament God repents more than man. Now we know that God doesn't sin so it's very clear that repent doesn't always mean to turn from sin. But you are right, in that a person must repent. But with the right definition for the word, a change of mind. That's the Biblical definition being used in some of the comments given. Folks are using the wrong definition. So a person must repent (have a change of mind) and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. If a person says you need to repent with the definition of turning from their sin, then they are adding a requirement of works to grace. That's a big problem because we are saved by grace not by works. Ephesians 2:8-9 and you can not mix the two otherwise you don't have grace according to Romans 11:6. So in short a person is saved by simply faith (believing, trusting, relying on) what God has done in Christ's death barrel and resurrection for our redemption without works. Works are something every believe SHOULD do. Ephesians 2:10 but should do and will do are different things entirely. The Bible gives us a very clean presentation of the separation of works from faith in Romans 4:1-5 verse 5 shows that If a person believes and doesn't do any works, His faith is counted for righteousness. Wow right! We don't deserve grace without doing something right, it doesn't seem fair right? But that's how we are saved, by grace and grace means unmerited favor. Meaning we don't deserve it. Hope this helps some my cyber friends. God bless!

@@jayandrew87 It is a sin to not believe in God. The most deadly actually. Do you understand that when we are born again, we are "dead" to sin? Sin doesn't have power over us any more. Our old man, the one that sins, is dead. We don't have to sin anymore if we "reckon" ourself as dead to sin. We have the power to "sin not" in us. What's left to do is renew our mind and learn to walk by our spirit man in us. We are a new species of "being" and we have to learn to "be", what we have become. A new "creation". Our soul didn't get born again. We have to train your mind to think the way God does and we do that by reading the Word of God. We have the Holy Spirit and a spirit, born from above, that will not sin against God since it came from Him. That's why we have to walk by our spirit man and not our old man (our old soul thinking man), cause the old man will continue to sin. We won't get him to stop sinning until we learn to keep him dead, and change the way we think about sin. Anything that is not of "faith" is sin. The flesh can repent of "sins" like he said in the video. Unbelievers can stop sinning in many areas. If they were a thief, they can stop stealing. If they were a liar, they can stop lying. If they were drunkards, fornicators, adulterers, etc. That don't make them "saved". They still have to come to "faith" in Jesus/God to be saved. Some people can overcome their flesh with their flesh, obviously. Christian still sin, even the best of them. If we say we have no sin? We deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and "cleanse" us from all unrighteousness. Confess the ones the Holy Spirit tells you to confess. Does your conscience "feel" guilty all the time? It shouldn't. When we are "in" Christ, "in faith", we are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit convicts the World of sin, believers of righteousness. Don't refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to convict you of righteousness. The Father loves us as much as He loves Jesus. When He looks at us, He see's the finished product. Not the diamond in the rough that's He's still cutting on and shinning up. We are His workmanship, not ours. Be blessed, amen!!!

Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. Regarding repentance, yes: "repent" means "change your mind." Question is, *_Change your mind about what?_* The context will answer that question. Listed below are a few verses where "repent" or "repented" or "repentance" are in reference to *_changing your mind about continuing in sin._* That's the context: ⚫ "And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not *_repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed."_* (the apostle Paul, 2 Corinthians 12:21) ⚫ "But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. We must preach the COMPLETE Gospel. give people the opportunity to think and change their minds about Who God is, who Jesus is, who they are, what Jesus did, what they have to and dont have to do then when the person agrees with those and put their faith in Jesus, that's repentance. All of these are the works of God through the Holy Spirit who brings conviction in the heart of the sinner.

@Infinite Adriannn The word translated "repent" is metanoia. Although the definition literally means "to change ones mind" this alone does not capture the full sense of the word because in modern English "changing ones mind" means simply to "adopt a different opinion or plan" Surely repentance as it is used in the Bible means more than simply adopting a new view. When Paul preached repentance and faith he looked at the person's life for evidence of a complete moral and spiritual change: 20 but kept declaring both to those of Damascus first, and also at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing DEEDS appropriate to repentance. Acts 26:20 (NASB) So changing ones ACTIONS (pattern of decisions) is an inseparable part of repentance. Paul also said: "For GODLY SORROW produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death" (2 Corinthians 7:10 NKJV) "Godly sorrow" - being sad and regretful about our sins" is not in itself repentance. However, seeing our sins as they are brings regret and leads us to a complete change of mind will and spirit that IS repentance. A more through definition of metanoia than a mere "change of mind or opinion" can be found in any Greek Lexicon. Anyone can see this for themselves if they just bother to read past the initial (abbreviated) definition. For instance, Thayer's Greek Lexicon gives the following definition for metanoia: "to change one's mind for the better, HEARTILY to AMEND with ABHORRENCE of one's past sins" As in Acts 26:20 above this is obviously not merely about changing our mind about believing. It is about us and our way of living. The Lexicon adds that "DEEDS worthy of repentance" or "FRUIT worthy of repentance" means: "CONDUCT worthy of a heart changed and abhorring sin" No matter how much a person weeps about his sin repentance is not complete until he turns from the Old Life, rejects it and believes in Jesus. biblehub.com/greek/3340.htm We see from this that repentance is not merely about going from unbelief to belief which is why the Bible lists REPENTANCE and FAITH separately. Repentance shows us how wrong our lives are. Faith points us to the One who is our only hope of change. Now this could happen quickly or more slowly depending on how resistant the person is to the Holy Spirit.

"repentance isn't a condition for eternal life"? What??? Why did Jesus command the Apostles to preach "REPENT"? *“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”* Lk.15:7 Why is there joy in heaven when a sinner stops sinning if it isn't a condition for eternal life? Jesus taught: “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and *if he repent, forgive him.* And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.” Lk.17:3-4. Here Jesus said that if a man sins against us, we should rebuke him. And if he repents, then we should forgive him. In other words, *IF he repents of the SIN then he should be forgiven*. *“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”* Prov. 28:13. Forsaking sin is clearly a condition to receiving God's mercy. “John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of *repentance for the remission of sins.*” Mark 1:4 John taught that REPENTANCE REMITS SINS! “And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins” Lk. 3:3 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” Acts 3:19. God does not simply want man to repent of unbelief, but of all sin. In the Bible, *repentance is often applied to man and sin,* in which case it means to change your mind *about sinning*. When it is used in connection to sin, it also means to change your mind about your *future actions*, as you determine to *sin no more*, while also a change of mind about *what you have already done...* “Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; *Repent*, and *turn yourselves from your idols*; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.” Eze. 14:6 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. *Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions*; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.” Eze. 18:30 “Repent therefore *of this thy wickedness*, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.” Acts 8:22 “Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they *repent of their deeds*.” Rev. 2:22. Therefore if the DO REPENT OF THEIR DEEDS, they will NOT be punished. “And I gave her space to *repent of her fornication*; and she repented not.” Rev. 2:21 “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet *repented not of the works of their hands*, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk” Rev. 9:20 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they *repented not to give him glory*.” Rev. 16:9 “And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not *of their deeds*.” Rev. 16:11

True repentance is to turn from the condemnation of the law you are under and turn to Jesus for complete redemption. This produces true repentance. The longsuffering and forbearance brings Godly sorrow. The fear was first but perfect love cast out that fear. Confess your sins doing so. They were baptized for remission of sins before they had a chance to prove in works. Did you ever pay attention to the works listed? They were indicative to receiving a influence from belief in Jesus who was merciful and just and for given and kind. The influence you will have from someone carrying your burden when you didnt deserve it or earn it. Tax collector to be fair, soldier to be merciful, one with two coats give one to who has need. Nothing about ten commandment transgressions, but rather about receiving the love of the truth. Jesus Christ alone. He should have this influence on you to change your heart in humbleness. The rest will follow as you grow in grace and truth through Him by faith. We have to believe Jesus accomplished in us what He accomplished in belief by faith. We come as a child not a know it all teenager. He builds you up because He saves you. To go back into the flesh and not believe you received by His Spirit is to not be only influenced by Jesus through our faith to believe in Him. Do not be a foolish Galatian.

I have heard many times over the years that we are saved by faith alone. Yet there is not a single verse that says that. In fact, there is a verse that says exactly the opposite. James 2:24 (NIV) 24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. James 2:24 (HCSB) 24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. James 2:24 (KJV) 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. James 2:24 (ASV) 24 Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith. James 2:24(NKJV) You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. It is true that we are not saved by keeping the law or even by faith plus keeping the law (see Gal 5), but faith involves much more than just a simple head knowledge of Christ. That's right: repentance does not save. We receive salvation by God's grace. Question is, who receives God's mercy and grace? It's those who come to repentance, confessing and forsaking sin: ⚫ "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13) ⚫ "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him . . . " (Isaiah 55:7) So, what is the mercy promised in Proverbs 28:13? Our past sins will be blotted out: ⚫ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19, NKJV) A believer - a person who through faith has come to God, confessing and forsaking sin - has been "purged from his old sins" (2 Peter 1:9). Believers have "remission of sins that are past" (Romans 3:25). Faith and believing are not the same. Abraham's example illustrates the difference. Abraham was justified to God and was deemed to be a believer becasue he acted on his faith: he obeyed and left for the promised land, and later offered Isaac. He was not justified to God "by faith only": ⚫ "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." (James 2:20-24)

The larger problem is it necessary to repent but the real meaning of the term. REPENT means change of MIND. So biblically REPENT is to change your mind on how to be justified before GOD from believing that your works, or actions TO what Jesus did, and that is He fulfilled the LAW (ALL the commandments) so we won't have to and DIED for All our sins and defeated DEATH by raising from the DEAD! By TRUSTING that you have come from death to ETERNAL LIFE. AMEN!

No! Repent is to turn from sin. The problem is sin. Sin shall have no dominion over you. Ephesians 2:8 is talking about being justified through works of the law, or personal works. But in the New Testament if we have faith we have to keep Jesus commandment of 1) Repentance, turn from sin to be forgiven of it. 2) Be baptized which symbolized the new birth as a Christian and certifies you before God. This is what Jesus commanded every person should do. If you deny this commandment you become antichrist. Don't go against Jesus.

But this man in the video is not a servant of Jesus Christ but a false teacher and his spirit is not the Holy Spirit which will continue to teach as Jesus taught to keep his commandments, that is, if you truly love him. Ephesians 2:8 does not say disregard all of Jesus teachings and commands. It does not say repentance is works salvation or Lordship salvation. Ephesians 2:8 needs to go with Acts 2:38 where they mention the same gift of grace but after one repents and is baptized as Jesus commanded. This man in the video is denying Jesus Christ and is damaging the message of the gospel.

James 1:12 King James Version (KJV) 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Proverbs 28:13 King James Version (KJV) 13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. God commands repentance for a reason. This man has erred in what he is saying. Yes, Salvation is by Faith alone through Grace alone is Christ alone. Nevertheless, repentance and faith goes hand in hand. It is true that the word "repentance" means to change one's mind, but its not just to change your mind about Christ. We must change our mind about sin, self, the Savior and the Sovereign Law Giver. With that change of mind it allows us to have genuine faith in Christ. This kind of teaching is what has many deceived about their salvation, thinking Jesus can be their Savior yet not their Lord. No one can be saved and not actively repent of their sins. If we change our mind about sin and who God is and what He has done the natural outcome is that we no longer want to sin. So repentance is very much necessary for salvation because if we do not change our minds towards our sin then we have no idea we need a Savior and therefore we will have a simple belief on the existence of the Lord Jesus Christ, much like what the demons have. It is repentance that separates Christians from demons and church- goers. We all believe in the existence of Jesus Christ, even in as Savior, but genuine Christians have changed their minds (repented) about their sins. Our faith is proved by our work of repentance.

Have you been listening to John MacArthur? Ray Comfort? How about Reverend Piper or Paul Washer? These people backload the Gospel of Jesus Christ with works. In doing so they are not saved because they are trusting/believing another gospel which is NOT the gospel of Jesus Christ which is in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4. Adding works to faith or faith to works will never result in Salvation. You don't "make" Jesus Christ Lord, He already is. You don't have the power to "make" God anything, no one does. Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

OH for crying out loud Bob Wilkin, I thought GES knew better! I thought you were above all this. You talk like you have never understood the root meaning of the word repent. COME ON MAN! How has the word repent come to include an specific object of the repentance (of ones sins ) when the word itself simply is translated into a root meaning of "a change of mind"? I think that the word has been abused and skewed to mean something that was never intended by the KJV translators. After all we know that in the OT, GOD himself repented many times and of course we know that God has never had any sins to repent of. When Peter talks of repentance he is urging to Jews who helped crucify Christ , to change their minds about believing on Christ as Messiah. For their salvation, He tells them to repent and believe the Gospel, NOT to repent of their sins.

The list is long but sin is dealt with when we get saved and believe the correct gospel Jesus gave to Paul for us to be saved by today. Read Paul's epistles he gives a few lists of sins we should keep from. But first and most important is that we get saved. i.e. Rom 1:29, Gal 5:19-22 SALVATION: To clarify the gospel of our salvation: Our gospel that saves us today is to believe that Jesus died on the cross, shedding His blood, was buried and rose from the dead for the forgiveness of our sins. I Cor 15:1-4. That's step one. Step two: We must put our trust in this gospel for the forgiveness of our sins and nothing else, to be saved. It's that simple. Jesus did the work necessary for our salvation. We cannot. Paul puts it this way: Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, We are not saved by repenting (turning from sin), being baptized in water, walking an aisle, saying a prayer, confessing with your mouth, being “born again”, or following Jesus’ earthly ministry. Those are mostly "works" salvation. We are saved by grace not works (Rom 11:6), through faith alone, in Christ work on the cross. It is a gift 100%. Titus 3:5-6, I Cor 15:1-4 Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He came to save sinners, not people trying to make themselves righteous by doing some kind of good work, getting wet or turning from their sins, they cannot that do anyway. Simply believe and put your trust in the new gospel Paul gave us from Jesus. Then start reading Rom - Phil to understand what was written to us the body of Christ, so we could know what God wants from us and who we are in Christ, once we are saved. The books Paul wrote are the only place we find the gospel that saves us today. Then read the rest of your bible that is FOR us but not TO and ABOUT us. 94% of the bible is TO and ABOUT Israel, yes Israel. Don’t steal their mail and try to make it yours. And don’t be fooled by people who tell you, you need to do some good work to be saved or to stay saved or to prove that you are saved. That is not the gospel for us today which is a free gift of GRACE when we believe and trust in what Jesus did on the cross for our sins. Eph 2:8 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 KJV Not of works, lest any man should boast. Jesus in the Gospel of John repeatedly says what the will of the Father is: to believe on him whom he sent. Repentance is part of our love for God.....it never need be discussed with anyone else, so not a brag....if feeling remorse for your sins and changing your ways is a ‘work’ to you, you’re doing something wrong. Those that say you can be lost after you have received the Gift of eternal life, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, are the enemies of the cross. They continually call Jesus a liar. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me HATH ETERNAL LIFE. False teachers say what Jesus said is not true. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, (everybody) that HE gave His only Begotten Son, (Jesus) that WHOSOEVER, (anybody) that believeth in Him, should not perish, but HAVE EVERLATING LIFE. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye MAY KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. If you have eternal life now, does it only last till next week? No, Eternal life is for ever life. We are going to heaven because Jesus paid our sin debt in full. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power, to become the children of God, EVEN TO THEM THAT BELIEVE ON HIS NAME. Salvation is done, not do. It is a free gift from God. Romans 6:23. Romans 11:6 Romans 4:5 Romans 4:6-8 When we believe the gospel he imputes His righteousness to us through the Holy Spirit, and will no more impute sin to our account. We are not made righteous in the flesh, but in the Spirit. We are not righteous, but the Holy Spirit who lives in us is. First John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doeth not commit sin; for His seed, (the Holy Spirit) remaineth in Him, and he can not sin because He is born of God. We still sin, but the Spirit of God that lives in us can not sin. First John 1:8 IF we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. All believers know we are still all sinners, but Jesus paid the price for all our sin. We are justified sinners by faith alone without works of the law. Salvation is a free gift and that is the only way we can accept it. Galatians 2:21 I do not void the grace of God, if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Eternal life is a promise: ⚫ "And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life" (1 John 2:25). We have not yet received eternal life; we're all going to die. We will receive eternal life at Jesus' return, as Paul explained in 1 Cor 15:50-54 and 1 Thess 4:13-17. After we have received eternal life, from then on we will have eternal security. We'll have salvation. Meanwhile in this mortal life we have "the hope of salvation" as Paul wrote: ⚫ "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:8,9). And Here's Peter, saying we "shall be" saved: ⚫ "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they." (Acts 15: 11; Peter, speaking to apostles and elders about future salvation for both themselves and Gentiles) And here's Paul, again, and note: justified now . . . "shall be saved" later: ⚫ "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Paul, in Romans 5:9) Trouble is, *so many have been misled to believe they are already "saved," done deal.* No! We may be in justification, but we can "fall away" from justification. We can "fail of the grace of God" (Heb 12:15). We can be "cast forth as a branch . . . cast into the fire . . . and burned" as Jesus warned. For that "through him" to work, we must abide in Him: ⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6) We have many more warnings . . . to "give diligence to make your calling and election sure" (2 Peter 1:10,11) . . . to remain "in His goodness" or else be "cut off" (Romans 11:21,22 . . . to fear: ⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1) These are not idle warnings. They are written to believers. Trouble is, folks who have been told they are already "saved,"-done deal-DISMISS these warnings. The warnings "must be for someone else . . . I'm already saved." We can enter justification by having our past sins blotted out, so they no longer separate us (Isaiah 59:1,2) from God. How do we have our past sins blotted out? By God's mercy and grace, promised to them who *through* faith (Eph 2:8) choose to "come to God" (Hebrews 11:6) on His terms, in repentance: ⚫ "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13) ⚫ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19, NKJV). I should mention: obviously our sins REMAIN *-not blotted out-* until we come to repentance. The popular misconception-that our sins were "all paid for" and blotted out *when Jesus died on the cross,* is gross error. Jesus made His death, His blood, *available* to cover our death penalty. Outside of repentance, we will perish, without mercy, without redemption: we'll pay our own death penalty. That's why Jesus warned: ⚫ "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Jesus, in Luke 13:5) So, how do we enter "the presence of the Lord"? By the gift of the holy spirit, given "to them that obey him" (Acts 5:32) and "repent" (Acts 2:38). As we abide in Him in repentance, walking "after the spirit" we remain in justification, not under condemnation. As we remain in justification, we have the "hope" and "promise" of salvation. With His blood, He continues to cover new sins we might commit: ⚫ "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1) . . . "are in," present tense . . . not "once were in." "Walk," present tense. ⚫ "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7) "IF" we "walk in the light" . . . present tense. "Cleanseth" us, present tense. Remember in Romans 5:9 Paul wrote "being now justified" . . . not "having been" justified! Our walk and our justification are very much active, in the present. If we return to sin, no longer in repentance, no longer abiding in Him, we return to condemnation. We are no longer in justification. We no longer have the "hope" and "promise" of eternal life. We have many warnings NOT to let that happen. Essentialy I'm not saying you can "lose your salvation"; once you actually receive the gift of eternal life at Jesus' return, it cannot be lost. I'm saying in this mortal life we are not "saved" yet; we're in justification, with the "hope of salvation," but we can "fall away" from justification and be "cut off." It is possible for us to return to condemnation, no longer "in his goodness" or grace. That's what those warnings are all about.

First John 1:8 if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. First John 1:10 IF we say we have not sinned, we call God a liar. We all sin and come short of the glory of God. That is why Jesus had to take the punishment we deserve so that we could be saved by what he did for us through His finished work on the cross plus nothing. Jesus paid it all and we paid 0. it is free. AMAZING GRACE. Romans 11:6 Salvation is a free gift from God by faith alone in Christ alone. We have nothing to boast in because we did nothing for it. You are a scholar,I am surprised that you did site the Greek word(s) AND meaning of the word "repent"! To think differently,to reconsider, To feel compelled to(reconsider, rethink) change you mind(mind set),CERTAINLY it "INCLUDES" your sin,BUT MOST,probably even without realizing it,"stop sinning" AFTER they "repent to look at the kingdom of God/AND the gospel",differently"!! Where is the "mandate" to STOP SINNING "FIRST" and THEN you CAN BE SAVED?(If you do not, then you can not be saved?) What does what YOU DO, have to do with Jesus dying for ALL of OUR sins? The good news is that YOU ARE forgiven EVEN BEFORE you ask BECAUSE of what Christ did NOT because YOU ASKED!! You are forgiven when you ask BEFORE YOU ASK,because if not ,you would NOT be forgiven WHEN YOU ASK!! Paul says,"We are saved by GRACE(what we do not deserve and can NOT earn),THROUGH(BY) FAITH"!! NOT though "NOT SINNING"(by stop sinning),THROUGH (deserving to be saved by works,by stop sinning)!! Jesus saved AND accepted us in our CONDITION,AS A SINNER unable to SAVE OURSELVES(by not sinning)!! I accepted Jesus as savior FIRST,THEN my sins were forgiven!! NOT,I stopped sinning,THEN that "qualified" me to be able to "GET SAVED"!! Your condition AND your sin DID NOT STOP Jesus from dying AND being punished,IN YOUR/OUR place and did not stop YOU from getting saved AND forgiven(nobody can (deserve to get forgiven, that is not how it works)!! Mercy AND grace can NEVER BE MERITED otherwise it would not be CALLED mercy and grace!!

No where in the Bible does it say we are saved by faith alone. The passage you are referring to (Ephesians 2:8) does not say faith ALONE. The verse says: "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast." We are saved by grace through faith, but that's clearly not the only factor. "You believe there is one God? Good for you. For even the demons believe - and shudder." (James 2:19)

for someone who has so many doctorates and pHds in christianity i can hardly believe you don't understand one of the basic teachings of the bible. sin is like a stain on your soul and simply stopping your sin IS needed because it means you don't ADD any more stains, but you need the stains you already have cleansed! that's why we ask Jesus to cleanse us! that's why in the penitent's psalm you say "BLOT OUT my transgressions, make me white as snow." Yes it is good for the sinners to quit sinning, but they must atone for the sins they already committed. it's like someone punched you in the face every day and then suddenly stopped. are you going to start to have a relationship with them just because they stopped? probably not. but are you going to if they sincerely apologized to you and promised to stop, and expressed interest in having a relationship with you? repentance is the cleansing of the sins you already committed and it IS important

These men are preaching the truth of the bible. The Gospel. First Corinthians 15:3-4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures. That He was buried and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures. Do you believe that He died for all you sins? Not just the ones you have done,. or the ones you are doing, or the ones you will do, but all of them. If He did not pay for all of our sins no one could be saved, because we all sin. Many will come before the Lord on that day and tell Him about all their good works and how they kept His laws. They are boasting in themselves in how wonderful they are and believe that God should let them in to heaven on their own merit. But Jesus says, depart from me ye that work iniquity, I never knew you, not I did know you and now I don't, I never knew you. Matthew 7:21 tells us why they were not saved. They never did the will of the Father. What is the will of the Father? John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. So people who believe they are saved because they keep Gods laws and do good works are not saved. Only those that have trusted Jesus as the only way of salvation by grace. Romans 11:6 Salvation is all grace, not works, if it was by works, (what we do or do not do) then it is no more grace, and if by grace, it is no more works. We can not mix law or works with grace. Gods grace is sufficient for all our sin. Jesus is the narrow way because their is no other way. We can only be saved by what he did, His blood sacrifice has purged our sin. We are now sinless even though we still sin. We are not made perfect in the flesh but in the Spirit. Ephesians 1:13. If you have ever trusted Jesus as your only way of salvation Through what HE did for us on the cross, then you are going to heaven because of what He did, not by anything we do or do not do. our works. We all sin because we are not perfect, but Jesus has counted us righteous by faith alone. Romans 4:5. A saved person can not go to hell if they wanted to because we have no sins to pay for, Jesus already paid for them all. First John 2:2 And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. But we have to believe it one time to be saved forever.

This is something I've noticed. Lots of people think that this means believing in Jesus. Like knowing He exists. This isn't what it means. Even demons know he exists and shudders. It says believe in His NAME. This means something else entirely. What does His name mean? Christ means Saviour. Saviour means Messiah. Messiah means Son of God who was sent to die for our sins and risen on the third day. Son of God means the Grace and Love of the Almighty Father. The Christ, means the Saviour. So do you believe in His name? His name means Your Saviour. Because you need to be saved.

Saul's gospel is "his own" and it is vastly different than the gospel of the Kingdom which Jesus preached. No salvation is possible without the undeserved sacrifice of our Master. But does he say it stops there? No way. Please read the words of the Son of God before you read Saul's additional words. Read John 17 and ask yourself if Jesus had more to say to us or if his work was done like he said it was. Right on brothers. Repent. The Greek word metanoia. It means a change of mind. We change our mind from trusting in what we do to save us, to trusting totally in what He did to save us. God repented and changed His mind and did not destroy Nineveh. Paul repented in second Corinthians 7:8. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. No where does it say to repent of sin for salvation by grace. We repent, change our mind from trusting in our works, to Jesus finished work on the cross. If repenting of sin would save us, then Jesus died in vain. Jesus died to pay our sin debt in full so we would not have to go to hell to pay for them. John 3:18 Believers are no longer condemned, but unbelievers are condemned already because they have not believed on the name of the Son of God. Once we believe we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:13-14 and Ephesians 4:30. John 10:28-29 There is no power in heaven or earth that can pluck me from His hand. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. If it is eternal life, how long does it last? SALVATION: To clarify the gospel of our salvation: Our gospel that saves us today is to believe that Jesus died on the cross, shedding His blood, was buried and rose from the dead for the forgiveness of our sins. Repentance is to change your mind from what ever you were trusting in, your works, or whatever, and trust in Jesus alone by faith alone. He is the only way to be saved. There is no other way. Jesus paid it all and we paid 0. It is free. Romans 11:6 Justification is by faith alone without works. Repenting from sin saves no one. Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone gives us eternal life. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth in Him, may HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, and I will raise him up on the last day. John 6:39 Jesus has never lost one. John 10:28 And I give unto them ETERNAL LIFE, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. To many are enemies of the cross. Thank you brother for preaching the true gospel of salvation by grace though faith alone. Faith is not a work. Ephesians 2:8-9 It is by faith without works. If faith was a work it could not be used in that same sentence. Ephesians 1:13 I have been sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise unto the praise of HIs glory, not mine, unto the day of redemption. AMAZING GRACE. Romans 11:6 Praise God we still have few preachers who are preaching the truth of the gospel of all grace. Keep up the good preaching of the cross where salvation is done, not do. Try to come to faith without repenting of your sins if you can . If it´s true that it´s only believing that saves you, the devil believes too. There are millions of people who believe and will say Lord, Lord....but Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH the will of my Father which is in heaven

They did not repent. They trusted in what they did, their own works instead of Jesus finished works alone apart from our works. Romans 4:5-8. They never did the will of His Father in heaven. John 6:40 and John 6:29. Our works can not save sinners. Only Jesus finished work on the cross alone by faith alone. Romans 3:26-28. Repentance for salvation is a change of mind. Metanoia. It means to change your mind from trusting in any thing we do to trusting only in what Jesus did for us. Romans 11:6 All grace, no works. You can not boast in free. Romans 3:26-28. Romans 8:9 Without the Spirit there is no salvation. With the Spirit, we have eternal life. Ephesians 1:13-14. Repent means to go from unbelief to belief. John 3:18 Believers are no longer condemned. He did not know them. They never believed on Jesus alone for the free gift of eternal life and were never sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13. Jesus plus anything else can not save sinners. Jesus plus nothing for the free gift of eternal life. Jesus paid it all and we paid 0. You can not boast in free. Romans 6:23. For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, First John 1:8, and we all die, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. We do not repent of sin to be saved. We believe the gospel to be saved. First Corinthians 15:3-4. Repenting of sin never saved one person. Turning from sin to God can not save us. Only Jesus alone apart from works. Faith is not a work. John 6:47. Acts 16:31. It is faith apart from works. Romans 11:29 For the GIFTS, eternal life, and the calling of God, John 12:32, are without repentance. Irrevocable, can not be changed back.

Faith without works is dead. Who in the world is this guy??? I hope he's not a preacher because if he is, he's leading God's precious sheep into hell!!! Acts 3:19 - Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Luke 13:3 - I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Acts 17:30- Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. I don't know what bible he's reading but these are only a few verses that talk about repentance.

CONTEXT! learn to read it....Repent of what? Your UNBELIEF? absolutely! unless you repent of your unbelief, then yes, you will likewise perish. John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Act 17:29-30 is taking about repent from your IDOLS 2 Peter 3:9 is talking to the beloved (believer) and that God will bring in all his elect to belief and that God is not willing that any of his elect will perish.

Acts 8:22, of THY wickedness,. Yes, unbelief, but sins is replete throughout the Scriptures, and God calls people to turn from themselves and idols, to the Living God. It isn't just a NT concept to turn from sins to the Living God. It isn't a perfect, all sins, which was a misconception I was believing. The Rich Young man, had an idol, which was his possessions. He was to repent of that. You see, context, and no Scripture is of private interpretation. John doesn't have repent, but John 3 shows people who love will turn from darkness to light. That is leaving darkness to enter life. The Serpent illustration, read the Numbers 21 passage. People sinned, God sent judgment, they repented of their sins, confessed, and looked to the serpent God told Moses to erect, when they did they were saved. Unbelief they repent of, true, which is sin, but also if they have something they are holding onto, they must be willing to have God as God, follow Him, and turn from idolatry. If they are a homosexual, they must be willing to turn from homosexuality. Whatever is an idol basically, turn to God from whatever or whoever you are following to follow the Lord. I also thought repentance of sins was works of men, when the truth is it is a work of God, seen in Acts 11:18. See Paul Washer, Paul Flynn for details. We have lost what the the men of old preached, which helps ecumenism heresy today. Easy believism is not Biblical. The Scriptures teach repent, even of idols to come to Christ, not all, but what is known. God does this. People get saved in spite of bad gospels, but the truth is in Scripture, not that man in the video.

Regeneration comes first. Regeneration then works repentance and faith in the life of the believer. You don’t “repent” in order to be saved (according to Bob Wilkin’s twisted view of repentance) but if repentance is not evident in the life of a believer, I cast serious doubt upon that “believer’s” profession! The Christian life is a life of repentance and it is ongoing (not a one time event)! We are PREDESTINED to be conformed to the image of Christ meaning if you are IN CHRIST, it will happen and is happening!

it really says something that the gospel is so complicated! only answer is demonic complications. could it be as simple as a person who has new life then seeks the things of God? they love God's Word, the people of God, their new family, desire to grow in their faith, to go deeper, to not sin, to think about a new world view...all these things demonstrate new life yes? i have seen men living with a woman, and instead of telling him to not do this or that, let the Spirit of God work and he will then say, "I am living in sin...I must stop this!" That is evidence of new life...to not sin and obey God and seek God's heart and mind.

Col1 12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Romans 3 9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one Romans 5 19 For as by one man's (Adam) disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus Christ) shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. John 3 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 1 cor 15 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures Acts 16 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 2Cor 11 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. Gal 2 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Eph 4 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Eph 4 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1john5 4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God Rom 7 14:17 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. Rom 10 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Rom11 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. It doesn't mean if the very word "repent" is not found in Galatians, that repentance is not necessary for salvation. The **CONCEPT** most assuredly is!!! And lest we forget, we need to read the ENTIRE counsel of scripture. Yes, faith is all that's needed for salvation, but HOW does one arrive at that point of faith that then results in salvation? A person needs to come to God knowing, acknowledging and agreeing with Him that they have sinned in the eyes of a holy God and therefore NEEDS salvation to begin with. That's why 2nd Cor 7:10 says that godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation. When we realise the problem we are in because of our sins, we then reach out to God and believe in His finished work at Calvary, for it to be put on our account. The type of teaching that Bob presents in the video is so incredibly dangerous. For him to say repentance is not necessary, is exactly why you see people in the world who say "ok, go ahead God, save me, and get me to Heaven. BUT....I have no desire to abandon my sins and I have no desire to follow You. I don't see my sins as a problem, so I'm going to continue living in them. But remember, God, I'm putting my faith in you despite this attitude I have towards You and sin. So save me, get me to Heaven while I live carefree in sin, ..." People don't verbally say that, but that's *EXACTLY* what they think in their minds and feel in their hearts. That's why there are so many people walking around calling themselves Christians, but their lives show that they don't have the light of Christ in their lives and hearts (see 1st John about that...). Also consider Romans 10:9. In order to be saved, you MUST confess the LORD Jesus. What does that mean? It means acquiescing to Jesus as LORD! You must recognise Him as the Boss, the One who calls the shots. So if He calls sin sin, and says that it's wrong and puts sinners in trouble in the eyes of a holy God, His word is what goes, and is what applies. The attitude I talked about above where people want God to save them and get them to Heaven, while living in sin and rebelling against Him, is the exact opposite of submitting to God as LORD. Such sinners are the lords, masters of their own lives. They call the shots in their own lives. **I AM NOT SAYING SUBMITTING TO JESUS AS LORD MEANS DOING WORKS TO BE SAVED** . I am saying a person needs the right *SUBMISSIVE ATTITUDE AND HEART* , the attitude that says "yes, I am in trouble with God because of my sins, and I therefore need and want His salvation". Only when a person has this right attitude can they be saved. Otherwise, they're in open rebellion (in sin) against God while asking for Him to save them. That's false conversion. So yes, faith is all you need to be saved, but before you even arrive to that point of faith, you need to repent (change one's mind about sin and needing Jesus to save us from our sins).

There is no one who is fully committed all the time, there is no perfect man, no one who is constantly faithful. Even the disciples who walked with Christ doubted him. All we can do is believe in his righteousness and his faithfulness and that belief will produce himself in us. Don't trust in men and their level of righteousness required for salvation. God will give you His and your level of righteousness is between you and God alone. Repentance is a one time requirement of God and it's God that leads us to it and once we agree we need His Sons life He saves us. Eternal life is born and you have become immortal you cannot die.

That’s not true. MOST people aren’t committed. They’re like warm and they get spit out. Until they take God seriously and learn to love him completely you’ll be weak to sin.

SPECIAL TOPIC: REPENTANCE (NT) Repentance (along with faith) is a covenant requirement of both the Old Covenant (Nacham, BDB 636, KB 688, e.g., Exod. 13:17; 32:12,14; Shuv, BDB 996, KB 1427, e.g., 1 Kgs. 8:47; Ezek. 14:6; 18:30; see Special Topic: Repentance [OT]) and the New Covenant. 1. John the Baptist (Matt. 3:2; Mark 1:4; Luke 3:3,8) 2. Jesus (Matt. 4:17; Mark 1:15; Luke 5:32; 13:3,5; 15:7; 17:3) 3. Peter (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 8:22; 11:18; 2 Pet. 3:9) 4. Paul (Acts 13:24; 17:30; 20:21; 26:20; Rom. 2:4; 2 Cor. 2:9-10) But what is repentance? Is it spiritual sorrow? Is it a cessation of sinning? The best place in the NT for understanding the different connotations of this concept is 2 Corinthians 7:8-11, where three related, but different, Greek terms are used. 1. "sorrow" (lupeō, cf. vv. 8 [twice], 9 [thrice], 10 [twice], 11). It means grief or distress and has a theologically neutral connotation. 2. "repentance" (metanoeō, cf. vv. 9,10). It is a compound of "after" and "mind," which implies a new mind, a new way of thinking, a new attitude toward life and God. This is true repentance. 3. "regret" (metamelomai, cf. vv. 8 [twice], 10). It is a compound of "after" and "care." It is used of Judas in Matt. 27:3 and Esau in Heb. 12:16-17. It implies sorrow over the consequences, not over the acts. Repentance and faith are the required covenant acts (cf. Mark 1:15; Acts 2:38,41; 3:16,19; 20:21). There are some texts which imply that God gives repentance (cf. Acts 5:31; 11:18; 2 Tim. 2:25). But most of the texts see this as a necessary human covenantal response to God's offer of a free salvation. The definitions of both the Hebrew and Greek terms are required to grasp the full meaning of repentance. The Hebrew term demands "a change of action," while the Greek term demands "a change of mind." The saved person receives a new mind and heart (cf. Ezek. 36:26-27). He thinks differently and lives differently. Instead of "What's in it for me?" the question is now "What is God's will?" Repentance is not an emotion that fades or a total sinlessness, but a new relationship with the Holy One that transforms the believer progressively into a holy one. It is not so much what one ceases doing or gives up, but a new focus or direction in life. The Fall causes us all to face self but the gospel allows us to face God. The bible says faith without works is dead. This is why many will come to Jesus on judgement day expecting to get into heaven and be rejected. Jesus says only those who do the will of my Father will enter. If you aren't repenting, you aren't saved. Sorry but its true. It's a daily battle and we all need to continuously strive to enter the narrow gate, and as Peter says, make every effort to confirm your calling.

@@peralopenaify Once your mind is changed and its renewed, you will understand your sinful lifestyle and worldly worship. If your faith in the words of my Lord is of good quality and quantity then my Lord will see this in your heart and you will be baptized by the breath of God through him, the Vine. This is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will convict you to follow the words of your new Lord as you seek first the Kingdom. You repent of your entire life and how you are living and worshiping other masters besides your savior.

I wrote my doctoral thesis...oh ow! He’s just an academic who has some letters after his name. It sounds like he’s peddling a broad road. Another false teacher who is highly educated. Ephesians 4:18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

Jesus is the narrow way, because there is no other way to be saved. Nothing we do can save us. Only what He did. The broad rode is to trust in something else that can not save a sinner, which we all are. First John 1:8.

Jesus is the narrow gate. No one comes to the Father except through Him. John 6:47 John 3:18. Acts 16:31; Romans 4:5-8. Romans 6:23 Ephesians 2:8-9 The Gift of God is by a one time faith alone in His finished work on the cross. John 6:40. And First Corinthians 15:1-4. First John 5:13. These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. Faith alone in Christ alone apart from any works. We can only be saved by grace apart from works. Romans 11:6.

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and BELIEVETH on Him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day. Jesus is the narrow way. Nothing else can save us except what He did. Romans 11:29 For the GIFTs and calling of God are without repentance. God will not change His mind. John 3:16 Once we believe and receive the free gift of eternal life by faith alone, apart from any works, it is irrevocable. It can not be changed back. Once we believe, John 1:12, we become a child of God, born of His Spirit. Ephesians 1:13, and have eternal life. We have nothing to boast in because we did nothing for it but believe. Romans 3:26-28. John 3:18 Believers are no longer condemned, but unbelievers are condemned already because they have not believed on the name of the Son of God. All who have believed have eternal life. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that BELIEVETH on me, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. Present tense. If you have everlasting life right now, then you will have it forever. It is eternal life. And it is a free gift from God by just believing on His name. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, (First Corinthians 15:1-4) for it is the POWER of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVETH to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. First John 2:2

Considering that fruitless branches are cut out of Christ (John 15:2, 6), this is not a complicated question. Perpetual disobedience is completely mutually exclusive with salvation.

I believe repentance is a change of mind so like you didn’t believe in Jesus now you believe or before you didn’t think you were a sinner now you know and yes it’s by faith alone
