I live less than a mile from the site and the congestion problems are an almost daily occurrence. Unilever USED to be the biggest and most benevolent employer in the area. When the factory and adjacent world famous employee housing (port sunlight village ) was constructed the whole area was a vast swamp all the way down to the river Mersey. Lever bought the site for half a crown an acre and drained it. Over the years production was moved away from the Wirral and often relocated all over the world, especially India. This resulted in demolition of large areas of the factory. The new generation of management are ruthless sharks. After sacrificing some green spaces to squeeze in a hotel and retirement home they offloaded the running costs of the village onto a trust. They COULD use the demolished areas in the factory to build a lorry park and remove the congestion from the main A41 road. However they are extending the village with cheap look a like new build houses into the bottom end of the factory, which is far more profitable than a lorry park. That grassy area Reggie stood in is also owned by Unilever, as is a large area further down the A41 extending around the back of the factory. New ticky tacky houses are being shoehorned into every available space. The original Lever family were very environmentally friendly and bought up large areas of woodland and farmland down the centre of the Wirral providing an early greenbelt between east and west Wirral. Now Unilever corporate management see no profit in farming and is ruthlessly applying for planning permission for thousands of houses on multiple sites. The Council and people of Wirral have all objected to this rape of our greenbelt. There are sufficient brownfield sites to cater for future housing needs NOT owned by Unilever. Appeal after appeal have been lodged by Unilever which have all been rejected so now they are seeking a judicial enquiry. Will the will of the people or BIG BUISNESS prevail, I'm not holding my breath.

I deliver to Unilever once a week and the problem is, when you drive to the security window you have to put your reference number in to a computer screen and often enough it’s the wrong number and the security will not let you in to turn around and let you sort out the number and this causes the tailback, this has to be one of the worst place for security that I deliver to, staff on the sulphur plant are spot on and are always friendly and helpful

The public and servants of the authorities may use, pass upon, walk upon the public highway regardless of ownership of the land .
