For everyone that wants to have the best possible mons : Having a 30 IV stat when you dont plan on putting EVs in it has the same effect as if you went 31 IV in it, at level 50.

Man this guy is really killing his uploads. So under rated man. Can you do videos on ev spreads as well. Like is 252x2 necessarry? Like the formula is quite confusing. Should we make our ev spread divisible by 4? How does the rounding off of stats do? When does it round off in the formula. Does it always round down? I am looking forward to my suggested video man!

Thanks man! I haven't analyzed EVs too in depth but that is an interesting idea! The basic thing is that 4 EV = 1 Stat point boost at level 100 but I'm not sure how it scales. Definitely an idea! I didn't expect this style of analytical pvp oriented content to be so popular!

The exact formula is (EV + 4×IV)/8 at lvl 50. That way it's worth it to 252EV only if you have 31 (or 29, 27 etc.) IV in that particular stat.

Amazing video! Except for the part you're scaring my 5x31 customers 😅 I'd like to add some numbers I've been gathering as a 5x31 dragon egg group seller for the past almost 6 months now (if I don't specify otherwise, assume any examples below are for 5x31 mons with the 'correct' natures, and by correct I mean those that sell, either because PvP or because Modest/Adamant): 5x31 HA Garchomp is on the high end of 5x31 dragon egg group mons. 5x31 HA Dragonite usually goes for much cheaper, ranging from 750K to 850K. 5x31 HA Gyarados is a joke, it isn't hard to find it below 700K. 5x31 Haxorus is another that has its price around 800K. 5x31 Hydreigon is just like 5x31 HA Garchomp. Out of OU, Kingdra usually goes for more then 850K (especially if it isn't HA) and Scrafty is much cheaper, usually around 700k to 800k. You used a level 50+ Garchomp as an example, and we can assume most if not all of those are EV trained because if your purpose is to sell these mons, and you've already taken the time to evolve them and bring them to lvl 50+, why wouldn't you slot in EVs in the mix? But although many times an EV trained and leveld mon sells for a higher price, that's not always the case. Some of these seem to sell better as lvl 1 not evolved mons compared to lvl 50+ fully evolved and EV trained. But those numbers are still in range to prove your point, and although I completely agree with you based on your research, and thank you for the light on the subject, I can't help myself but fear my 5x31 customers will decrease 😂😂

Dragons are definitely cheaper due to mysterious cherish balls! But yes I was talking about prices of PvP ready pokemon since a lot of pvp players don't want to deal with leveling and ev training but yeah I was definitely generalizing for the video since going case by case would be tough to do! Don't worry, I think this video will do more good than harm for your business haha I have had a ton of people reach out saying they are going to try pvp now since they don't need to get a bunch of perfect mons first. Once they are hooked, they'll be running to you for the 5x31s 😂

5x31 definitely aren't bad! Just not necessary for starting pvp! I use mostly 5x31 just because green number make brain happy

it could be done. i have a shellder i bought on the gtl (for cheap). hasty hp 27, att 29, speed 30. i evolved um and put icicle spear on um. 9-10 i win using my cloyster (minus some tanker mons).

I'd recommend checking out the trainer rerun guide! It's the best beginner friendly method since all it requires is a cloyster! Use that to get your gym team! Yes. Imagine almost winning a game by .3%hp. 5x31s maybe a lot but these green numbers eliminates paraonoia and gives you a good nights sleep.

can u please answer me this , i have a garchomp 4*31, but the attack is 21 , but its ev trained to 252 in both attack and speed, so is this good for pvp? the reason why asked is garchomp with 31 iv ev trained have base attack stats of 181 and mine is 176 , so there is only 5 points differnce please answer me oh yeah mine is a Naive garchomp

If it's 31 satk and 21 atk, that should be great for a naive chomp! Obviously 31 would be slightly better but it's only going to impact dragon claw and only by 2% damage or so on average

Counter argument: If you need the build of the Pokémon to use multiple stats with EV investment ("Chinese Builds" are they're referred), you need 5x31.

@HiImRainer yup for certain builds, 5x31 is more beneficial but it's definitely overrated for pvp! I think you are talking about pve strats, in which case, 31s are super important because they are at level 100 and also ai manipulation is harder to achieve with varying ivs.

@@JinxedBoon Nope! I wasn't even considering PvE for this argument! There's some EV spread in PvP that cannot be replicated in efficiency if you only have 3 perfect IVs (SD Roost Scizor, Metagross, House Master Zapdos, optimized VinCune) and there's others where it's a waste to NOT commit to having 5x31 (Zapdos, Suicune). But yes, for PvP purposes, 3x31 2x30 is mostly the same as 5x31 (except if you want to change the EV spread to accomplish something different, you would need to get another copy of the Pokémon to do so)

There are definitely some cases where going more optimized is better but I found a LOT of people say they can't even start pvp until they have a full 5x31 team which where the inspiration of this video is from. Maybe it would be interesting to put together something highlighting certain mons that are worth investing more into 🤔

I kinda agree but I mostly do NU lately due to getting annoyed with OU stall and it has been better in my experience!
