I think the Wolf Ridge and Eastonmade are quality machines. You can put new engines and pumps on them and keep going. On other hand you can buy 3 of the Split Fire units probably for 1 heavy duty machine. My 2 Cents 🤔 Thanks again Tony for putting out another Quality and Comprehensive Video!

You’ve pointed out some great points. The commercial splitters are just that, able to be run continuously 8-12 hrs a day and be able to be rebuilt and last a lifetime. Great comparison Tony, you have a great way of pointing out all the pros and cons as well as explaining things in both scenarios based on using the equipment and being honest about what you have dealt with. I definitely like the vertical splitters and I can see the SplitFire being a great option for some who have a road side stand who do bundle wood/pizza oven/ or solo fire pit wood on a smaller scale at a affordable price point until the need for a commercial splitter makes sense. I agree that it is great to see all the various options over the box store splitters. Stay safe and make sure to stock up on the creek water from Chris’s old wood yard. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Tony - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. I have always been a vertical splitter advocate for the accuracy of splits and great ergonomics. I’m pleased to learn that my American cousins are beginning to see the light! In my view the 1165V would suffice for the vast majority of our community due to its manoeuvrability and excellent cost/performance ratio.

Then I hated the 1165v, now I LOVE them both and can't wait to get a vertical. My lower back is bad and I've used a neighbors horizontal, beats using a axe anyday but still kills your back. As much as I don’t want to add electric controls, I see many benefits to these verticals. Foot pendant. Move to whichever foot you want. Heck put magnets on it and stick it to the frame and your knee push it. With that solenoid valves. Mount anywhere. Multiple control options…buttons, pendants, electrical joystick, etc.

@@TonysCoolToolsbut Tony,…the outdoor elements is not the problem. It is clear, that you can see a huge difference between paint and powder coat , when you look at the two splitters side by side. The Split Fire has only been used maybe a couple of months compared to a couple of years with the Axis. I see other Split Fire models that look like they’re 10+ years old because of the paint.

I think the term commonly used that would apply to the 1165V is "pro-sumer". It is heavier and better built, like an Echo CS-590, than the traditional box store machines but not as heavy as the commercial grade machines.
