A lot of then dont work or smell bad. The best product of all is the Loreal colour gloss. It does the job as it says it will. And smells good too 😊

That is a major problem and one reason I advocate for not using purple products, at all, unless you need them for permanent yellowing. L'Oreal is too synthetic of a fragrance for me, and is usually one to irritate my allergies, but very good to know it works well. The Loma products are great for pigment deposit and the scent is natural, if you care to try anything different. 😀

Great information! I was curious about products that aren't white and using them on my hair. I do have some purple products but noticed that as long as I clarify regularly, I'm not having much, if any, yellowing.

I’m usually okay with clear, off white, or white, and fortunately there are way more like that than not. Some herbal extracts will be like tea going into the formula so they can discolor the formula but not your hair and vice versa, so just be careful.

Thanks, once again, Joli, for the great information. I am not a purple fan. Malibu & SEEN deep conditioner for clarifying, and SEEN shampoo and conditioner for regular days ( all thanks to your insight), so don’t see the need to use anything else except your Clay ( which I’m really past due!).

I have yellow in the white parts of my hair and use purple shampoo everyday. Relying on what you have said, no just purple shampoo once a week, what would you recommend the rest of the time, a clarifying shampoo???
@QuickSilverHair
@QuickSilverHair Жыл бұрын
Hi. So no I would never recommend you use clarifying shampoo everyday. You could really dry your hair out doing that. Depending on your hair type you may need something a bit more moisturizing. You can check out my most recommended page for ideas: quicksilverhair.com/most-recommended-products/ Seen Shampoo and Deeper conditioner are my MOST recommended for every washday.

I shampoo and condition about 2x a week. My routine is I use approximately 1tsp of baking soda with 16oz warm water. It softens and clarifies my scalp and hair. Next I use Apple cider vinegar 3TBS in 16oz of cool water to rinse. The alternating shampoo day I use Loma purple shampoo and conditioner. My hair has been dry most of my life, it’s also curly/wavy coarse. Sometimes when I add coconut oil in my smoothie it helps with dryness. I do use a hair dryer , round brush and a touch of curling iron. I use Loma heat protection. My hair holds until the next shampoo day. Here is my question What is your opinion of baking soda wash and acv rinse? I like the simplicity, isn’t this a No shampoo method? I love your beautiful hair! I want to have long silver locks too someday!
@QuickSilverHair

Hi Stormy, for some people the baking soda and ACV is a perfect thing. I love using a bit of baking soda mixed with a lowpoo shampoo, it really cleanses and brightens everything up. I always make sure to rinse really well to bring the pH back down since I don’t really like using vinegar in my hair. I have pretty low porosity hair and it tightens the cuticle even more so it can make lower porosity hair dryer. As you grow out your silvers, you may notice they need a lot more moisture. So you’ll have to just see what your hair does. I tried purple shampoo and it dried my hair out so bad, and wasnt worth the short term benefit. Be careful bc there can be very harsh chemicals in it- I now have 100% virgin silver hair and I need extra conditioner to keep it soft. I am petrified I might destroy my healthy new hair so I am reluctant to ever do purple shampoo again.
@QuickSilverHair
@QuickSilverHair 2 жыл бұрын
That can be a problem for sure, many brands are extremely drying. It was one of the reasons I developed QuickSilverHair so there is an alternative out there. If you ever get any permanent yellowing though, it can be the only way to deal, the Loma purple conditioner is very conditioning...so it could be a great option if you needed it.

@@QuickSilverHair Thank you for your answer! I'm 9 months dye free and my hair is turning yellow and the purple shampoo does not work at all. I don't use heat tool so I was wondering if the medicines I'm taking could be the cause. But I'm not taking any of those that you mention.😭Kisses from Uruguay.

@@geobf1317 if the yellowing is at the root, and it is growing out of your head already yellow then it is likely an internal cause. If the yellowing begins after your roots say an inch or so away from your scalp it is an external cause, like minerals in water, product buildup, or UV damage from the sun.

@QuickSilverHair
@QuickSilverHair Жыл бұрын
You can try either. But depending on how dark your pepper is and how much you have you may not need it at all. If your hair was originally brown try blue shampoo if your hair was black it could go either way.

Not sure why you need a shampoo. Isn't that just adding more aggressive detergents onto your head. What's wrong with toners like Nordic Blonde etc its a moisturiser. My hair is blonde, natural blonde but because of it's colour or lack of colour I tend to pick up strange shades easily from swimming pools sunshne even some tap water. So i use a toner and no shampoo at all ever. The toner stays there so I only have to use it three max times a year or less. We evolved to have hair and it is meant to look after itself and it does mostly, washing in shampoo all the time destroys the natural oils and balance that is naturaly very efficient at looking after your hair. I would say the odd tweaking is all that is necccessary. Hot water is good for reducing oil in hair so is salt rinse etc etc there are a load of extreme safe things to do that don't involve any chemicals at all.

@@riverp9019 some of us are not so lucky to be able to skip shampoo. People need to cleanse their scalp to prevent irritation and itching, some need dandruff or psoriasis care, others work out a lot and need to remove sweat, it’s all a very very personal choice. We actually have, as humans, used many different chemicals and rituals to cleanse the hair like bacon fat, olive oil, lye, various clays, slippery elm, licorice root, rice water, milk, and the list goes on. With gray hair if you don’t cleanse away sebum, styling products, and environmental contaminants like minerals in the water the hair turns a funky yellow color that not everyone is comfortable with. Most minerals require chelating ingredients to help bust up the mineral attachment to the hair. When it comes to purple shampoo and conditioner, it is a “toner”. They are actually classified as toning products. I never really use purple shampoo, if I use a toning product at all I use purple conditioner. Nordic Blonde is your choice of toning product, which is made of chemicals. Chemicals are everywhere in everything. Every ingredient is a chemical. While some are arguably more toxic than others some are also far safer than others. Nordic blond for instance contains silicones and many people avoid those. It also contains a surfactant that is found in many sulfate free shampoos. And one of the most toxic things in most products is perfume, which Nordic Blond contains a high concentration of. Some of our home chemicals like peroxide, vinegar, or baking soda can actually alter the pH of the hair and overtime cause permanent damage to the cuticle. For silver sisters that means yellowing that cannot be removed, in addition to dryness, brittleness, and loss of manageability. I like to support people on my channel with what their personal needs are for their hair, their scalp, and their lifestyle. It is really awesome that you have found all you need is this product and that it works for you to never wash your hair. Not everyone is that fortunate.

@@QuickSilverHair Thanks for your detailed response, appreciated, I didn't know Nordic Blonde had silicone in it! Yes I do occasionally clean my scalp but not with shampoo as shampoo makes my hair dry and brittle in the first instance and then extremely oily. The more I shampoo the oilier it gets. Mostly I use a strong sea salt water solution in a hot bath, soaking then gently scrubbing the scalp with the fine crystals, this clears things up to a nice bright shiny clean skin. Sometimes i will then put in a conditioner to get rid of the sticky salt aftermath, this is any old sheep fat or lanolin based conditioner they give you in hotels which I keep. But the longer the gaps between cleaning the better as my hair reaches a healthy balance where it keeps itself shiny and voluminous and the scalp clean just with brushing and where just warm to hot water is enough to towel clean it periodically back to full bounce. I dont wet it inbetween either if possible. Ha ha I don't wash my dogs either and their skin and fur is shiny sleek. Just brush off dried mud. Those chemicals in all the hair products do worry me a lot. Silver hair I guess goes yellow without doing anything to it. Maybe keeping it under wraps is best just letting it out on special occasions LOL

@@riverp9019 thank you for listening. I think it is important we understand everyone has individual needs and desires. If your hair is that brittle I’d consider using more conditioner, the brittleness indicates it’s not holding the right amount of moisture. I have a brand I think you might want to check out. It was designed with all natural ingredients that are allergy friendly with no toxic ingredients. You might like her conditioners. asimpleplanet.com/?wpam_id=48
