I like the biolage purple shampoo. It rinses clean. It cleans up the buildup. So the hair is brightened up. I have been using it for the last couple years. Definitely a good shampoo.

I use L’Oréal’s Le Gloss for silver hair. It tones with purple pigment and also is a deep conditioner. I use it about twice a month on my salt pepper hair and I love it! I’m pretty sure why I get some yellowing tones in my hair is because of the very hard we have.

I’ve used L’Oréal purple shampoo & conditioner. I’m using a brand by Avon. A nice surprise since I’ve sold Avon for years. I wash my hair once or twice a week and only use purple shamp/cond so will change it up since it is drying. My grays are around my crown, the rest is black. I highlighted a few strands around my crown to help blend the demarcation and I like it better. Can’t wait to highlight more! Mahalo for sharing, Katie! Another great video!🌺💕

Yikes, since I started growing my gray hair out, I have used ogx Argan oil of Morocco ,but today, for the first time used purple shampoo 😮. Right now, it looks beautiful. I only shampoo twice a week. Without this video, Heaven only knows the damage I could have done 😢. My last shampoo was working fine. I just thought it was time to use something for gray hair since it is nearly grown out. You chose a perfect time to drop this video. Thank you! (So far, my gray is not turning yellow)
@KatieGoesPlatinum5 ай бұрын
Please be careful with Argan oil - if it's amber tinted, it can stain your gray hair. I've been using Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible oil instead - it's clear and I LOVE it! I'm sure your hair will be fine for now - just set the purple shampoo aside and only use it in the future if you need to (or want to - some women don't mind the yellow tones).

Does anything else brighten the silvers, other than purple shampoo? Thank you!

Keeping your hair clean and clarified really helps (I clarify once a week); using a hard water filtration system helps, and also QuickSilverHair Clay Kit is AWESOME. It removes mineral and product buildup from your gray hair and makes it brighter. You can get it here: quicksilverhair.com/product/quicksilverhair-squalane-kit/

Bleach London Silver Shampoo is the strongest purple pigmented shampoo I've ever used. It's decently priced and doesn't further dry out my already-dry hair. However, Bleach London shampoo is so strong that the next time I use it I'm going to do 1/2 with mixed with another shampoo (a clear or white shampoo).

I have only used to purple shampoos so far, and like Aluram, which does not leave my hair looking purple, and I only leave it on a couple minutes.

I've been using Ethique shampoo bar and conditioner. It has more pigment than other products I've tried. My husband prefers a traditional shampoo and uses Luseta which is more moisture/conditioner in it. I use Verb Ghost Oil after I wash, particularly in the bottom half of my hair, to combat the drying properties of the purple shampoo. But I'm sure that's a different video.

Thanks for telling me about the shampoo bars - i haven’t had good luck so far with them, but i haven’t tried the brand you mentioned. I’ll test them soon! Glad you like the Verb ghost oil - i like it too ❤️

Some purple shampoos are harsh with sodium laurel sulfate. Gota read the ingredients.
@KatieGoesPlatinum4 ай бұрын
Oh, for sure. As I say in the video they can be very drying. My favorites don't include sulfates. I avoid sulfates like the plague.

My favorite purple shampoo & conditioner is Loma. It brightens my hair without drying it out and smells good. Sometimes I use a kaolin clay hair mask which helps but it's messy and time consuming so I don't use it that often. I'm curious about metal detox shampoos as I have hard water. I've read about them but haven't tried any, wonder if anyone has had any experience with those.
@KatieGoesPlatinum3 ай бұрын
@@mbeth3143 I’ve tried using the metal detox shampoo and mask recently. I’m still trying to figure out if I like them or not. They leave my hair a bit dry. For me, the best thing for hard water has been to use an aqua bliss, shower filter and to make sure to change the filters regularly.

A hair dresser whom I went to for the first time used purple shampoo on my hair without even asking if I wanted it. I would have said "No" because I am perfectly happy with the shiny silver that I have with mostly dark brown to black hair. Will washing my hair with Prell shampoo get rid of the toner that was left on it? And when my hair grows out will my natural color be restored? I've never colored my hair.
@KatieGoesPlatinumАй бұрын
@@CynthiaSmith-b5w she really should’ve asked you first before she used it, but the good news is that it won’t have any lasting effect. Within one or two shampoos the toning effect will be gone. You don’t have to worry about it permanently affecting your hair. Re: Prell shampoo: it’s very drying. I don’t recommend it.

Can this help with the brassy blonde that is in the ends if my hair? I have recently committed to going gray and hate the old hairdye line. I have about 2 inches of gray now and I want to hang in there but the old dyed oart looks wierd. Help!!!!
@KatieGoesPlatinum4 ай бұрын
It should help! Purple shampoo targets brassy yellow tones in blonde and gray hair :-). I find Bold Uniq to be especially strong but you might have to experiment to see which one is best for you. Just don't use it more than once a week.

What styling tool do you recommend for someone that likes to curl their hair? Im nowhere near fully gray, only about 6 monhs in but don't want the yellowing from styling tools. I do have the dyson air wrap
@KatieGoesPlatinum5 ай бұрын
Hi, Pam! Honestly, I prefer to use the Octocurl Heatless Curlers, but if you're in a hurry the Airwrap is good because you can use it on VERY low heat. However full disclosure: I can't get the curls from the Airwrap to last. I've tried everything. Not everybody has this issue, so it might just be me. I don't know of another very low-heat hot curling tool (yet!) so the Octocurl would be my recommendation for now. Here's my review:kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaLZdWuDf817hKc

I didn't know there was a silver hair community. I have been graying since I was 12. Never knew how to take care of it. I'm 40 now and have a full stripe that's beautiful. BUT, the length of my hair has yellowish gray that I'm not a big fan of. It makes my dark brown hair look dull. I'm going to try out the toning drops. Wish me luck!

Tone your hair. The shampoo and conditioner are a scam.
@KatieGoesPlatinum2 ай бұрын
I’m confused by this - the purple shampoo is a way to tone your hair at home. And I personally believe it’s safer - I’ve seen women in my Facebook group who’ve damaged their hair by salon toning.
