Good to see clamping force distribution being looked at in relation to head gasket clamping! Top guys!

Is it just me or did he sometimes talk quite a bit without answering the question? Seemed very marketing-y to me.

I have reused MLS head gaskets and MLS exhaust manifold gaskets. Why? Cause 20 years ago i heard i could reuse them up to 3 times, so i tried it and never had an issue. One time i even sprayed the MLS head gasket with 500° engine paint, let dry to tacky and torqued the head down. Never had an issue. This was on a 2.4L turbo engine running 20psi.

Some oems have a procedure of pulling the head down then loosening it off before retorquing. You may also have a gasket that has fatigued. Ive found it quite common to find gaskets that are blown between cylinders in the layers of a MLS type.

I feel like that's a big question to ask the average 7M-GTE owner

As a 7mgte owner this is a rabbit hole I been through too many times to count.

currently in the process of rebuilding my 7m for atleast the 7th time and i have broken just about every part but the only time i ever broke a head gasket was the one time when i used a cometic gasket since it was during covid and supply issues with the hks ones but never broken a hks head gasket that said i have never reused one and my reasoning has been since the coating comes of the hks ones when you removed them (the cometic didnt come of but maybe thats why it broke) maybe you could reuse them if you use copper spray but i dont want to take the risk since i have mostly used the 1,2mm hks one witch is only like 100usd but also have never reused the 2mm one witch is 400usd~ personally i wouldnt never reuse but i understand if someone wants to since the price of the 2mm one but at my power lvl i tend not to take risks like that

@@nojz8557 it's pretty obvious you're not "the average 7M-GTE owner" mate
@nojz855723 күн бұрын
@@_entrxpy ill take that as a compliment like i take all those 2jz accusations i get because ppl say i cant have a 7m in my car cause apparently you cant do the stuff i have done with a 7m or get the sound i have from a "truck engine" as they say :)
@_entrxpy23 күн бұрын
@@nojz8557 sadly yes that's a compliment since the average owner doesn't know shit about engines (and that's why they all blow up)... Props to you for keeping the king engine in there🤙🏻

Hi. I've designed a 2/3 efficient air-cleaning engine that I'd like to share. Let me know if you'd like to see it. On an unrelated note (this video): I've always wondered why the cylinder walls aren't cast with the cylinder head instead of the block. So much effort with gaskets and bolts when the piston rings and valves already provide all the required high pressure joints.

Now using this aluminum block with stainless steel ring will this cause galvanic reaction at least to the head surface not so much into the block as assume they have steel liner or sleeves???
@Greekspd11 күн бұрын
Do those steel rings really do no damage or alter the head ?

So I’d imagine the s/s Oring would be slightly thicker than the surrounding gasket is that fair to say I recently watched a vid where a 1500cc flat plane v8 did not use any head gasket at all just Viton O rings for the coolant and oil passages and I think phosphor bronze o rings that sat into a machine groove top of the bore these sat proud of the bore or deck surface by .002” if an inch there was no receiver groove in the head from memory Not sure if the torque specs but I’d imagine this arrangement would seal pretty good not sure why more manufactures don’t produce dry deck arrangements
@RePeteAndMe21 күн бұрын
Karl, That sounds sweet. Leaks aren't hidden and don't cross contaminate. But if it is a bit more expensive and requires a bit more space and the factory gasket won't blow before the warranty expires, that sounds unprofitable, which trumps all the irrelevant stuff we're going on about, eh?

with so much competition on volvo redblocks, i wonder if you guys make a redblock gasket, sarcasm. But I do need one, and so do my buddies.

Dont ever use "selleys no more nails " as a head gasket Works a treat until u want to remove the head, As for me old brit single , I buy a sheet of 3mm copper and make my own , and just anneal it if I want to use it again and 20 years of using the same bike it seems to work
