This amazingly intelligent 5-year-old American Doberman Pinscher loves to go out. He really enjoys picking out the perfect treat for himself and even bringing it to the cashier! Awesome!

I think this particular crop that this boy has is more like a military or working dog cut. Dobies are still used as guard dogs, but not as often in Military or Police work anymore. Belgian Malinois now dominates that job description.

I had a neighbor in an apartment building who had a black Labrador, that loved Budweiser. There was a doggies sandbox in the side yard; when the dog needed to do his business, he'd open the apartment door, go to the elevator, hail the elevator, press the lobby floor button, get out and press a button to open some other glass doors, go to the doors which were automatic, go do his thing, and did everything in reverse order to get back in the apartment. THAT DOG WAS SMART! His favorite beer was regular Budweiser - icy cold. One day: the owners of the building were on the elevator one evening, they figured that something just didn't seem right. So they followed the dog one time, and some residents complained to management and security. Eventually they modified the security doors to an electronic keycard to open the doors with. That dog must've had a human soul, or something! He was very protective of young children, and women, especially pregnant women! He was like a K-9 unit, except he never was.

This comment reminds of me when my sister finally agreed to meet my dog. He was a great dog. She's a cat person, so no offense that they didn't meet sooner, but she greeted him and gave him a rawhide bone, and she was so thrilled at how gently he took it and that he sat down and just admired it, then took it for a walk around the house to show it off... My nephew has one and he always shocks me at just how smart he can be at times. Chris will say Vader go get the kids up and he will wake them up for school and make sure they get ready and come downstairs lol. He will watch them in the yard play and run out if they get close to the road and move them back. He is very friendly but also cautious if you have never been around before he will keep a distance and follow strangers until Chris or Mya introduces them to him.

We three boys grew up on a turkey ranch here in CA and because my Grandfather had trained Dobies and German Shepards for the English army, when they came to California in 1921, they bought dobies here also! When my Mom and Dad got married and had the three of us, a Doberman was mandatory and our first “Sasha” pretty much raised us!!!! They are extremely affectionate animals and VERY protective of their family!!! Our last one was bought to keep my Mom company after my Dads death. Even though my parents house was up on a high hill and pretty remote, we never worried about my Moms safety! The dog was always “on duty”as was my Moms 45 cal pistol......lol.....

Lovely dog and fun to watch. :D I have taken my golden retriever to a farm and ranch place since he was 10 weeks old. Finally when he was about 6 months old and I had a little extra money on me, I decided to let him pick what he wanted. He was very surprised to not hear me say 'Leave It" when he was sniffing at everything. And what really made me laugh...is he passed up all the treats for a stuffed animal... ....a duck of all things...lol. Good Retriever! Three store employees and I were watching him and we all busted out laughing when he made that choice out of all those stuffed animals that were on display.

"Except ..." he says, "except the dog from Frankfurt." He means a Golden Retriever or Labrador or a mix from both, I'm not sure, but it was THE DOG whom my son was not able to hate :-). He was a bit older but still a child and we were in Frankfurt for an interesting meeting. A lot of people were there and the place to sleep in the night was a big one with a lot of beds, all together ... We lied in bed an wanted to sleep as that sweet crazy dog appeared and jumped over a lot of beds and gave all of us a greeting with smiling sweet face, happy barking and jumping on the beds :-))))).

Reminds me of my beautiful, sweet 95 pound Dobie boy (neutered after I got him) who I got when he was about 2. He moved with me from South Georgia to Seattle along with 3 cats and another dog and lived to be 16. His tail had been cropped so short, he only had a nub, and his ears were cropped as well. He was a spoiled and happy boy.

This is really cool. My Rotterman passed away a few years back. She was a stolen rescue dog. I actually took her because she was chained up in a utility closet of an abandon building with a laceration to her face and you could see every rib on her. My parents hated her when I first brought her home... Infact my mom had a home for her but I stood my ground. Turns out she was the absolute best dog we've ever had. She was so intelligent. Never needed a leash. I swear she knew English just couldn't speak it because she was literally perfect. I actually ended up getting kicked out because of my heroin addiction but my parents kept her. They loved her. She loved living there. I still dream about her she was my best friend. Since then, I've been in recovery for 5 years with 3 consecutive years. I don't want to get high anymore. I'm thankful God's given me everything he has because without God I wouldn't be alive. My parents and me are extremely close. I can't believe I went 6 years without speaking a word to them. Now there all I think about. If left to my own devices and advice I can't manage a drug free life, but when I have God on my side, repent every night and pray, God looks after me and keeps those demon made thoughts from my head. God bless you and your family. Are you a sheriff? If so I'd like to let you know that we do sometimes make it. I bet it gets hard seeing the same faces doing the same things but those aren't the people, it's the drug.

This is exactly what my sweet girl Chloe would do every other Saturday. She was a Rottweiler. Every other Saturday she got her nails done ears cleaned and every employee at Pet Co. knew her by name. She loved to make new friends everytime she went in there. She had such a kind face people knew she was ok to approach. That and the nub going 1k mph was a good give away. Also if you have a Tractor Supply in your area dogs are welcome there a well. Chloe knew exactly where the treats were kept and who to go to when she wanted her treat. Please keep doing things like this so people who normally wouldn't approach a Doberman maybe will see that any breed of dog can be a wonderful loving sweet baby.

@james ahn uh...where did I say that a human will be using his mouth to pick up a dog treat? If you go to such a store to get a treat for your dog, will you use your hand to pick it up or mouth?
