I have enjoyed these videos enormously; as well as being entertaining they have taught me a lot about Russia, its climate and countryside as well as helping me to appreciate the sheer size of it. My compliments to the cameraman, he showed a lot of skill and must have endless patience. My only complaint is that it made me want to visit and at 87 yrs of age that is not very likely! Thank you.

Thanks. I enjoyed the video very much. I travelled the route: Vainikkala (Finland) - Moscow - Kazan - Novosibirsk - (bus to) Tomsk - Irkutsk - Vladivostok - (onwards by ferry to Donghae (Korea) and Sakaiminato (Japan) 4 years ago on a variety of different standard trains. I found the old East German kupé carriages to be the most comfortable with a nice rocking motion and the train noises of my youth, when I travelled a lot on the trains. The trick is to get a kupé in the middle of the carriage and not over the bogies. I appreciate the hard work that you put in to making these video.

The most important part of a railway voyage in Russia is good companions. Long Siberian dimensions contribute to philosophical or political talkings to your compartment-mates, and vodka helps rather than obstacles to such kind of circumstances. So, to have an excellent railroad traveling, bring your friends and just interesting people!

I agree. This is why the author would be well-advised to try other classes of carriages including Platzkart (at least on one long leg) and perhaps seater coach (between Tyumen and E-Burg).

У меня вообще давняя мечта - именно вот так в купе одному ехать несколько тысяч км. Это для первых разов хорошая компания в ж/д поездке хороша, а на деле она потом напрягает. И еще: вы сами должны знать, что далеко не всегда в попутчиках попадаются хорошие люди. I've just finished watching this episode of 'Trans-Siberian Railway Winter Journey' and I'm looking forward to viewing part seven. Lots of information given in the good sub-titles and best of all: no irritating narcissistic presenter. If anybody was ever unsure as to how vast the former U.S.S.R. was, then watching these wonderful videos will surely give a good clue to its size. I'm not sure if the up-loader of this series of videos is Russian or Ukrainian, but whichever nationality he is, he has a wonderful sense of humour. In the comments section of one of the early videos in this series, somebody (a native English speaker) commented complaining about the lack of a map. Numerous replies by more sensible people, suggested that he should open a new tab with the relevant Google map. In this episode however, 'doc7' has addressed the problem by including maps... all in Cyrillic! Well, it made me smile!

Great video. Most people seem to focus on this route in winter because of the added challenge of the climate. I did this route in summer this year and was amazed at how hot Siberia got (sunburn in Itkutsk!) and how many wildflowers could be seen. I must try it again in winter next time.

You haven't been in Yakutsk yet! In this city is one of the largest temperature amplitudes in the world! In winter there can be 45 С frost, and in summer - 38 С heat. Вы еще не были в Якутске. 34:00 Это типичный представитель капитального ремонта плацкартного вагона Гомельским вагоностроительным заводом. Где-то до 2014 отличительной чертой таких вагонов были не только гладкие борта, но еще и перегородки на небоковых местах, как в вагоне на 17-ой минуте. Но начиная с 2014 года завод отказался от установки перегородок и делает обычный интерьер у плацкартных вагонов при квр.

The plazkart car at the end, it is just modernised old plazkart cars without corrugations in Dnepr (Dnepropetrovsk) in Ukraine, here in Moldova we have same cars in train to Moscow

Outstanding series...will be my next item on bucket list next year. I will be in Moscow and other parts of Russia second week in December this year by choice, I prefer doing my travels in Eastern Europe etc in the snow and winter! Will only do one train run initially from Moscow to St Petersburg, as I am doing a week this time specially to fly on some old Soviet era planes that are fast disappearing. I will be flying into Novosibirsk so nice little insight into it from your video. Very nice mate, and just making me look forward to it more, probably going to do first two weeks in December 2020.

The video is awesome and gives a good panoramic view of the Siberian landscape. Small suggestions - I am not sure as to which day we are in from the start of the journey. Would it be possible to add the day in the video? Until Episode 5 a map wasn't used to show the journey path but a good improvement was done in Episode 6 with a map but the map is in Russian. Russia is not a place for disabled. You're lucky to be a Canadian. In Russia, disabled people are ignored by the officials in all possible ways. Basically you can't even leave your apartment building 4 a walk.

Congratulations! Perfectly done again. I wonder why you changed trains in Tyumen at all if you didn't stop over there - especially as the Belarusian train was empty and direct berths to Yekaterinburg were certainly available (this may be a problem in high season, and then you work around it in this way; it is usually enough to buy tickets to different carriages of the same train for parts of your route).

well; actually I had a ticket from Novosibirsk to Ekaterinburg all the way on the Belarusian train; However, I did spontaneously buy a ticket on the Firmeny train no. 013 Novokuznetsk - St. Petersburg for the segment Tyumen - Ekaterinburg; that train had very modern Kupe cars; I wanted to try it out
