Dock Seal Bull Rescued From TWO Entanglements

Antoine is on his own at the docks. He found a massive seal with not one, but TWO entanglements around his neck: packing strap and a piece of rope. The seal is very big for one rescuer and he puts up a massive fight. Even one of the dock workers comes and offers help. Antoine appreciates the offer, but he knows that this bull is not a "starter seal", and there is a good chance that somebody would end up injured. He prefers to put only himself in danger.
The seal is immobilised by the net and Antoine gives the seal a few minutes to fight the net and then calm down to a point where he can cut the entanglements. We do not often see seals with several entanglements at once, but it can be expected at the docks, so close to many fishing vessels and fish processing factories. There is a lot of rubbish floating in the ocean and our seals are unfortunately often the victims. 🦭

Tony, you often start a solo rescue by stating all the reasons why a rescue is going to be difficult, if not impossible, given the circumstances. Then you just go to it and free the seal from its entanglement. This one was a little bit scary, but a good rescue for sure. Well done!🦭👍👏

Wow, Tony! That was a big, strong, uncooperative seal, and he needed to be freed of those entanglements! What a conundrum for you, on your own, and yet....you managed to make it work. Kudos, man! It's obvious that a big seal thrashing around is still no match for a determined OCN rescuer named Tony! All you OCN guys are so good at what you do!

Poor Tony had his hands full with THAT sub adult ... I think that THAT was not only the WILDEST seal I've seen an OCN team member tackle, but the big boy just wouldn't STOP with the thrashing. But, as always, none of that behavior was enough to make Tony give up ... his perseverance and dedication to removing BOTH of the entanglements was absolutely admirable. Plus, Tony's narration of the video, and conversation with the seal being rescued is ALWAYS a bonus! Thank you, Tony! ❤

My guess is that this seal remembers when it was younger and the OCN guys would shove its face in the sand to do what needed to be done. So this time the seal is much larger and is determined to stand its ground.

People with no large animals experience will usually get themselves and the people they are "trying to help" hurt or killed because they don't know what to do or not do. Having an extra person is nice, but an extra unexperienced person is a liability and that is just foolish.

Very difficult rescue. Lots of big fellas in this specific location with packing straps and ropes, no wonder the hook is useful but in the this case even that wouldn't be enough, so the net comes in and the rescuer works carefully. We have to understand these animals suffer a lot of pain because of the entanglements and they need help. Well done Tony and OCN.
