Good job Captain Chris really proves what kind of a teacher you are he's lucky he's got dual engines I have one lot harder to. dock
@AskCaptainChris4 жыл бұрын
My first few boats were single engines. No thrusters. You just need to learn which way it backs and then how to make a tight turn using back and fill technique. It’s all what you get used to. Thanks for watching.

Ken Lee we teach aboard whatever vessel type and engine number/type that our clients own. Single, twin, straight, pod or jet drive. With or without thrusters. We all learn differently so we prefer not to generalize as to how anyone learns. Some process faster, slower or must practice until muscle memory takes over. There is not one person we’ve ever trained who is is textbook.

You are a great teacher Cap'n Chris! Come to Lake St. Clair in Michigan and help another Cap'n Chris. Bought my first boat on August 5. Taking it slowly, had a successful maiden voyage and subsequent rides (13), have to back into my slip at Marina. A few aborted attempts, but I'm new. Keep up the great work!

We do fly all over wherever your boat is...but isn't it getting kind of cold up there by now? :-) Practice when the weather is calm and there isn't an audience to rattle your nerves. And you may even consider practicing some close quarter maneuvers when you are far away from the dock. If you are lucky enough to have a mate be prepared by having your mate carry a walking fender in the event you have a close call or two. No shame in aborting any docking attempt. That shows good decision making skills. Thanks for watching.

I’m officially BOATLESS(HOWEVER no money has changed hands YET) They made me an offer I couldn’t refuse...Long story short-used this boat for 2 seasons and stand to make $5k above what I paid for it.On top of that--there will be no haul out cost,winterization costs and no bottom painting which it needs right now.There is also a growing list of little things that have quit working like the bow mounted windlass control for the UP-the trim gage at the helm no longer indicates if the motor is trimmed,that took a dump last Sunday-the 2 cycle oil tanks strap bracket has rusted through and is in a place in the bilge a 6 yr old girl couldn’t get to-the windshield gasket leaks and will need to be completely replaced.I’m sure I’m missing one or 2 other minor defects that can and will happen on an 18 yr old boat.AND with full disclosure-The potential buyer has been made aware of all of these issues! and Is more than willing to accept it as it is...My practical side is doing a good sized happy dance...my emotional side is wondering how long I’m gonna be boatless because of the Covid induced boat shortage the North East is experiencing....? Isn’t it a saying that -“ the happiest and saddest day is when you sell your boat”? I’ve had this same feeling before when I sold off my Grady...watching it leave MY slip with someone else at the wheel was very emotional.-----

@@AskCaptainChris That would be a lottery fantasy Chris-but my thought was to get in to a smaller sport fish type-dual inboard class of boat like a 32 Carolina Classic or a Luhrs open 34. Something in that spectrum.it would be my first non- out board boat but I think that’s the direction I want to head.My wife’s looking for something we can spend long weekends on comfortably.
