I did karate for years in Japan and it has taught me to stay the hell away from fights. EVERYONE gets damaged, period. I quit tournaments when I snapped a man's leg with a kick. I loved Nobody because it shows that serious side. It also shows that some (crazy) people like Mr Nobody can tank insane damage, but they are the exception.

My mom is a doctor - and worked in ER for some of her career. She had to do the emergency tracheostomy on a gentleman in distress at a restaurant she was having dinner at - using her swiss army knife and the fancy fountain pen of another diner (apparently the shape, rigidity, and diameter of fancy pens make them ideal for this, as compared to flimsy straws or whatever). He was still alive when the ambulance arrived, so presumably she saved his life. Way to go mom! Making me proud.

The most cringing injury to me was how he dislocated that elbow because it was so graphically relatable, but the most brutal part, i think, is the rapid expert knifing series the protagonist did in so little time on his opponents. Knife fights only have losers, because both will have multiple stab wounds before one goes down in most cases. Loved your analysis.
@henchera Жыл бұрын
Dude that knife blasted through the leg still makes me cringe, and I've done some messy first aid before. The shear trauma inflicted from something like that just defies the bodies imagination for pain.

It’s really cool while watching rapid fight scene videos that the medical comments on injury’s don’t slow down or make the scene more boring it’s just makes the it feel more powerful knowing how bad the wounds are.

2:00 Oh mine did, no surgery no splint, just a mitella for 2 weeks. The bone attached to my thumb, way back in the elbow broke, but it lay in a good spot so I only had 2-3% function loss (no more straight extended arm, it kind has a slight angle even extended). Surgery means opening it up and rerouting nerves, a big risk for something that could heal so well, so they highly recommended no surgery. Also physio was not needed, just take off the pressure bandage after 2 weeks, no more hanging it up, then move it as far as it would move. Required Naproxen, Diclofenac, stomach protector pills (ulsurs), lots of rest, no shower 2 weeks (no skin right hand plus broken wrist in addition to left elbow broken, bum leg) so could not do anything like put on pants, shirt let alone shower with bandages not allowed to get wet. 2/10 would not recommend. Thouh it beats alcohol poisoning and Nagleria Fowleri, that really messed me up. Hot still feels cold and vice versa at times, balance issues 10 years on.

Programs like ICU, Children's Hospital, Kid's Hospital, a few different ER programs, or even related Australian shows like Paramedics or Air Rescue? Maybe just to talk about the medicine or the difference from hospital to hospital or country to country? They're all available on KZbin.

Thank you Eddie for the sweet breakdown and also want to make a recommendation for Goon (2011) - it would make a solid 'Doctor Breaks Down Injuries" video. It's a sports movie for people that aren't into sports. Hell, more than that, it's a movie about fists, and Canada, and hockey. Do you remember American Pie? Remember Stiffler, well, he can act and plays a hockey enforcer in this movie about love and fists, and love of fists. There's so many fists in here that you'd think that if the movie opened up a restaurant they'd ask if you wanted a side of fists for your burger. Shoot, this movie got heart and takes the time to tell a sweet story of someone finding themselves, and also fists. At a brisk 1 hour and 30 minutes, it has the most amazing climax I've ever seen, you don't even realize you've entered the climax of the movie until you're in it, like a fist. It packs a punch and I haven't laughed that hard since the time I was asked to be the father to that child, but damn, there it is. So please, do yourself a favour, and enjoy Goon and would also like your take on the hygienic quality of the team's touring bus. It's, uh, 'interesting.' Goon (2011), check it out. Plus, it got a sweet, kick-ass soundtrack, including Turandot, frickin opera. Check it.

Doc, hope you don't mind if I point out that leaving the knife in makes great sense IF you can stabilize it, but if you can't then it's just going to keep slicing more tissue and blood vessels. Optimal, stop moving about and stabilize the penetrating object. If you have to keep moving about vigorously, pray to whomever you believe in, pull it out (applying pressure if possible) and hope you don't bleed to death before you can manage the situation to where you can stop moving about so much.

i actually don't think that hutch is thrown head first through the window. I think he manages to duck in enough so that his shoulder blades connect with and break the window. And while falling, he tucks in his head and protects it with his arms. so i don't think that there would be any traumatic brain injury, depending on how well he dampens the fall, and mostly just some lacerations, at least if that were real glass.
