My poor mom (who came with me and was my ride home from the hospital) was so confused and all I could tell her was that my veins decided to be nice today. @@jayhay8 It took retiring from a high-stress profession and getting counseling for the trauma of it, having my immune system attack my pancreas with C071d, and finding a medication to help remedy the resulting loss of insulin for me to lose weight. I'd been on diets since I was a young child with little to no effect (poor people can't always afford good food), and even swimming and walking constantly in college only helped me drop a few pounds. The good old American grind mentality is likely a huge contributor to the bad old American weight problem, and high stress triggers hormones that make you store fat if you're genetically predisposed to it. As an Optical Lab Technician at a large private practice in Canada I can confirm, for eyeglasses yes, it is monopolized by a few frame distribution companies. These companies have now in recent years also taken majority shares in lens manufacturing companies, physical optometry/dispensing stores and online retailers, completely spreading over the entire market. It is making it hard for independent optometry/dispensing offices to keep up with access to new technology and low pricing. This even trickles down to affect medical equipment sales and tech support for independent practices.

I was a CNA and was in a Facebook group for CNAs at the time. People were always spelling it HIPPA so I took it upon myself to memorize the acronym in order to correct this misspelling while sounding credible. To this day I still know HIPAA is the good ol' Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Put in place at the dawn of the EMR (electronic medical record) age since computerizing all this data began to open a lot of legal doors which left patients in danger of having their health information tied to their identity and it being shared with or without good intentions without their consent. One might say all healthcare workers, from the janitors to the administrators, must take a HIPAA-cratic oath.

5:28 I know I'm late. However, sandals and crocs are easy to wear, (like in the vid) making them easy to wear if you have a swollen toe or something. I know smth like this because one of my friends wears sandals all the time and he always says: "I got told they're breathable for your feet so they're not going to put pressure. Sneakers/trainers put pressure to stay on, making my foot squashed and uncomfortable, not helping and making it heal uneven."

The dorito one is actually more likely to shock royalty bc after the distribution of shelf stable dried spices instead of fresh ones, it became cheaper and easier to access so the poorest classes were able to season food. As it became more prevalent nobility slowly used fewer spices other than salt bc they wanted to show off how high quality the meat was, the logic was that peasants needed to use spices to mask the flavor of lesser quality cuts of meat that may be spoiled and taste Bad therefore fewer spices highlights luxury meat. It’s dumb but it happened 😂

That penicillin fact is super interesting! I found an article on it from U.S. Pharmacist. I'm going to share it with my mom, who had an allergic reaction to penicillin decades ago.
@poro3246 Жыл бұрын
It's important to note what the reaction was exactly. If it was a full blown anaphylaxis and she can recall it, then it is very likely she's truely allergic. However, most patients don't recall the reaction as it happened many years ago and often as a child. In this case, it is very common that a benign (often viral) rash was mistaken as a penicilline allergy. Why? Kid gets pharyngitis, most pharyngitis are viral. Doctor doesn't want to take the risk as it is sometimes tricky to distinguish viral from bacterial and starts antibiotics (depending on the area we are more conservative now). The infection was viral afterall and the patient develops a viral rash which he would get even without antibiotics, but very commonly develops a few days after other symptoms, exactly when antibiotics are often started. If a patient doesn't recall the reaction, they're most likely not really allergic. If you had an anaphylaxis, you'd probably remember the event. If the patient is not responsive, you don't take the risk of course. But otherwise, you can give a test dose of penicillines under supervision.

@poro3246 Turns out, she's allergic to codeine and I just have that stuck in my head as penicillin for some reason. 😂🤦♀️

From what I learnt, the thing with Crocs is that it's one of the most popular and available wide-toe box shoes (you can get wide-toe box versions of numerous brands, but those are much harder to find), so unlike the standard shoes, you won't have shoes that compress your toes in an unnatural way (that many shoes out there do with the [fairly] pointy end) which over time deforms your feet (which may impact your balance). There are likely other reasons to wear them like them being lighter and probably easier to put on and take off (I don't wear them so there are probably other reasons).

Crocs are great for fishing. Cause like flip flops you’re not worried that they get wet, but unlike flip flops you can put them in 4WD and they don’t fall off or get stuck in the mud. And they’re more protective. Crocs are awesome.

5:19 In my country Crocs are not considered suitable for healthcare workers shoes because of their lack of support to your feet and because of their problem with possible electricity leaks. They are not allowed in OR at all. Yeah, they have holes but what do you think about an urologist who operates bearfoot in OR?? There is one in my work place, it’s gross!

Not all crocs have holes. There are "closed-toe" crocs, but also "charm backs" designed for DIY charms that could plug up holes if someone, lets say working in pediatrics, wanted "open toed" crocs with charms to show off to kids! There are plugs for the sides, too. Not sure if only the brand "Shutterz" makes them or if there are others, but good place to start.
