I had robot-assisted right colectomy 3 weeks ago. The evening of the surgery, I was up walking. The next day, I came home. I had my kidney removed by robots. I like to think of them standing around like R2D2 - but the Davinci machine is cool, too. I was also worried about them being in there when SkyNet takes over and I suddenly am cut into a thousand pieces ... you may be too young for the Sky Net reference. :) Anyway, what surprised me is that at the end they make a larger incision (around 4 inches) so they can put the kidney in a plastic bag and pull it out through the larger hole. I kinda thought they were going to cut it up and suction it out. So all that to say this, if you have a pain in your mid back/side area - don't ignore it, even if it doesn't present like kidney pain just go get it checked out. I didn't and I lost my kidney, I had a 11mm stone in there (ended up being a big collection of small stones) that blocked off the kidney for so long it died. Anyway, don't mess around with side pain. (still have the side pain, it wasn't the kidney causing it) (still haven't gotten it checked out) (I may be a moron)

Im a nurse student, and in one of my practices I was allowed to join some of the surgeries. The surgeries were done by the da vinci robot. There was two of the machines, and I was able to sit and watch from one of them. It was so cool seeing doctor making his way to the kidney to then remove a cyst. All of this while stopping bleedings and cooperating with surgical nurses. It was so fascinating and I got so much respect for the surgeon staff because it looked extremely advanced and difficult👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

As someone who has operated a drone i can say no pilot learns to do stuff like that without crashing many times over their career. There are moves that require great dexterity and precision and some pilots can do amazing things. But when you are operating controls like this if you make a single mistake it literally costs someone their life.
