Fantastic and eye-opening information. That being said, how do I find a local GP or internal medicine physician that ascribes to functional medicine (I live in the NW suburbs of Illinois @60103)? My general practitioner said, "Lower carbs and exercise more." I eat complex veggies throughout the week, and meat a few days. Eggs each morning. 2 days at the gym and 2 days at Orange Theory (HiT type exercise). My A1C is normally a little high so I take metformin 500 mg 2x a day. I never eat sugar, rarely eat fruit, and no rice/pasta/white bread. My fasting triglycerides were at 456 with a hemoglobin A1C at 6.2. I am not obese. Clearly a genetic predisposition.

Pause: all this testing sounds great but does the insurance cover it? Expensive is what I was thinking when she talked about all the testing. If you can’t afford all the testing remove the processed carbs and sugars. Eat calciferous vegetables, meats & fats & fast 18 hours at least . Take a lot of vitamin D and get out in the sun when you can. Mineralize your drinking water. Exercise a few hours a week. Take your collagen powder. It’s funny once you remove the junk food there goes most of the carbs & the only thing left is whole food. I get what she’s saying but it’s so technical & expensive for the average person in America. You can change your life without 1000 test.
@booswalia2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad to hear you say that. Testing in Canada is not something the patient decides on. It has to be requested by your doctor and they don't even give you the numbers after. They just tell you good or bad.

@@booswalia just comes off as a bit exploitative to the American people. Dangling these tests in front of people who would love it but can’t pay afford to pay a small fortune. Though we don’t need a test to tell us to avoid sugar and those ultra processed foods.

Unfortunately the very lucrative medicine industrial complex isn't about HEALTH. It's about profits first and foremost. It's a BUSINESS. Everything this woman is sharing is spot on, however the majority of us would never actually have the funds to pay for all the necessary diagnostic tests to ferret-out our underlying health issues. Sad and true.

True Functional medicine is extremely expensive Here in Europe is not even available We gotta be our own doctors

Functional medicine is also a very lucrative industry. They talk big with their "root cause medicine", but reality is that these people are clueless when it comes to chronic complex diseases. Their tools are diet, supplements and standard therapy. Patients who have been sick for a couple of years are already eating a clean diet, have tried all kinds of supplements at that point and probably done all typess of lifestyles adjustments imaginable. What do these functional medicine doctors have to offer in such a case? Nada, zip, zero. They are clueless in such a scenario. They can run all the functional medicine tests they want, which they dont even know how to interpret themselves btw, but they won't be helping such a patient. I would not go near them

Not many people get to realize this or are in denial that the system cannot be trusted. Doctors focus on quick fixes but most of the time the fixes cause many more long term and more serious issues. This is why natural remedies and a healthy lifestyle are the better way to go about it although usually these take more time to come to fruition.
@1TuneAtTheWeek2 жыл бұрын
@@wildflower-web of course a healthy life styles truimphs anything else. But 2 points I feel I need to clarify..1) You dont need to pay a ridiculous amount of money to pay a doctor to tell you what a healthy lifestyles entails. So for that reason I feel the functional medicine practicioners are taking advantage of sick people 2) Healthy life styles can only get you so far, its value lies in prevention and sometimes reversal when you have a disease thats catched on its tracks/non progressed. But once you have a chronic disease that has lingered for quite some time / progressed, then these functional medicine doctors won't have a clue of how to fix that. I am not saying orthodox doctors are any better but these functional doctors are damn sure not better. These people in the video are family physicians who recommends lifestyles management and charge a sum for that..If I had a chronic disease I would chose a experienced internal medicine doctor, at least they would be able to diagnose and exclude more "common" serious disease processes. The functional guys would just order a bunch of tests and in the end tell you, you need to do more exercise and eat more leafy greens. The only difference is now you lost a few thousand bucks

I don't believe she is, speech delivery being without any hesitancy and eyes fixed on one spot (camera?), not following moving text. Myself, I prefer a commentator that addresses me (the viewer) directly, not some off-screen interviewer, camera, teleprompter, etc, (as if speaking face-to-face), but I am probably old-fashioned. Many TV ads here in the UK (not that I view TV much, now), typically as for toothpaste, use the technique, yet people would not accept this if really speaking to someone in front of them.

Hey Doctor? I’ve been experiencing foamy urine for 5 months now after I was given a brain cat scan that was unauthorized and not needed because nothing was wrong with me at all. I also now have these sharp pains on top of my head that come and go and move from the right of the scalp to the left. I also have a white tongue! I got my urine checked and everything is completely normal there is no protein in the urine. That CT scan did some things to my body and all I had was a minor allergic reaction to a spicy sandwich and the incompetent nurse gave me a CT- Scan for a reaction that resolved on its own and the doctor said he doesn’t know why they did a scan and that nothing is wrong with me. Now I am being told it may be Staphylococcus Capitis! Any recommendations? I wake up once a night to urinate. Im also now having pain in my kidneys in the back and strange pains on top of my head that move from the right to the left. All these problems after they did a malpractice on me by giving me a CT Scan. The pain on my head is not a headache but deep pain that comes and goes. I’m also a man

@EnlightenedPatriot12 жыл бұрын
Not BS in almost the rest of the world, as here in the UK. Not all viewers are from the USA. A Baby-Boomer, I grew up with the Imperial System until UK Metrication happened during the 70's, when, as an engineer/designer, I had to become proficient in both. I must concede that the Metric System is easier and is more universally used in this world. Yet, I still think in terms of gallons and mph - our speed limits remaining to be shown as that, not kilometres/hour. Myself, I dislike food/diet/recipe videos that quote a weight, or volume, such as "!/2 a cup". How big a cup? it is not halfway up if cup is tapered? Perhaps with being an engineer, I prefer proper measured units for length, weight, volume, temperature, etc, not ambiguous ones.
