Hi. I am a big fan of your videos, and the vast knowledge of the type of ingredients that are good/bad for skin of color. All that said, I am hoping that you can explore the connection between allergy based ingredients in skincare and dark marks, as well as texture issues caused by these offending ingredients. Therefore, I have to read the ingredient listings on every single product that I am considering using. Nobody seems to have addressed this issue, and I would love it if you could explore this angle! 🙂

An Example of BHA, AHA & PHA Night Time ROUTINE: 1) Double CLEANSE- • Miscellar Water Gel Cleanser • Cleanser Suitable for what your skin type is or needs. 2) TONER Suitable for what your skin type is or needs. 3) EXFOLIATER/ ACTIVES as in AHA (Mandelic, Gylcolic or Lactic Acid, etc.) or BHA (Salicylic Acid) or PHA (Glyconolactone, etc.) *Watch for the Percentages of these Actives* 4) SERUM Suitable for what works in Combination with Actives. *Make sure the % of Serums are at the right percentage or it can irritate your skin* (Example of Niacinimide: Oridnary Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% vs. Glossier Niacinimide 5% + Zinc vs. Naturium Niacinamide 5% (this one has no Zinc, etc.) Paula's Choice 20% vs. Paula's Choice 10%) -->Eye Serum & Eye Cream

I’m so glad I found your Chanel! I’ve neglected my skin over the past year and finding your videos has been very informative. I’ve brought a few products you’ve recommended to help with my face. Just wanted to ask where you suggest a patch test should be carried out (arm or behind the ear) and how long for? Thanks for all the info, keep up the great work!

I don’t understand why dermatologists won’t recommend Azelaic acid. I just had my appt and asked my dermatologist to recommend Azelaic acid but he was like NO, I asked why and he said we don’t recommend Azelaic acid to patients, it can cause pigmentation. I don’t buy his reasoning tho. To me it sounds like they don’t want people’s skin to get better so that they can keep making money but if there’s any other reason please enlighten me, anyone!??

You might be using too much HA. Also HA helps other ingredients penetrate better so it might be a little irritated because of that

Hi i have also been using the ordinary hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide with the ordinary moisturiser with hyaluronic acid and it made my skin very dry and tight i think its the high content of hyaluronic acid from both products anyway im not sure which product to cut out i love all those products

One of the videos I asked for. It was an amazing and informative video. Thank you so much Dr. V. Still awaiting the CLEAR line review from Paula's Choice because some of the products in that line caused my sister to breakout. The cleanser though is fantastic.

Thank you so much for this wonderful information. I have colored skin and experienced hypopigmentation after using Azelaic Acid. Do you know if this will likely be temporary/permanent? I am quite worried. Thank you for your time!

Thanks Dr. V! It's very frustrating that Azelaic Acid products are not available in Canada... :( Can you do a video on moles (til) please? Basing my skin care routine on your recommendations has cleared my skin a lot (thanks again!) but it never made any difference in any of the moles on my face.. Are they different from regular pigmentation?

Hi Arielle, I've seen all the videos in this channel, i'm just starting just like you and this is what i've learned. When i found this channel i was using The body Shop brand (tee tree colection) for my oily/acne prone skin. I realized that all the products had denatured alcohol and a lot of fragrance. As you can imagine my skin was damaged, hipersensitive and did not look good. This are the first steps i followed: STEP 1 - Check all the products you are using right now and make sure they are NAFE-SAFE (No denatured alchool, fragrance or essencial oils). STEP 2 - Stop using the products that aren't Nafe-Safe (it could be most or all of them). STEP 3 - Confirm your skin type (dry, normal, combination or oily) and the main issues you want to solve (rosacea, acne, pigmentation, dehidration, fine lines, acne scars, etc etc) STEP 4 - Before you start any treatment, restore your skin barrier (it is likely to be damaged if you've been using the wrong products). She made a video about that. STEP 5 - Start a new routine with only essential products to restore skin barrier - gentle CLEANSER, MOISTURIZER and SUNSCREEN. Those are the first products you shoud buy. I sugest doing that for at least 2 weeks because your skin barrier needs time to recover. For example: my new essential routine for oily skin is - Cerave Foaming Cleanser -> Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream -> Avène Sunscreen Cleanance SPF50. My skin already looks good and i'm not using any actives or seruns yet. STEP 6 - After your skin is restored you can add toner, exfoliation, seruns and actives - in this order. Add only one product each time. Note: If you have several skin conditions including inflamation (acne, dermatitis, etc) treat the inflamation first. For example: my main conditions are acne, hiperpigmentation and fine lines aroud the eyes. I will add toner, seruns and actives in this order - first to clear acne, then hiperpigmentation and last the lines around the eyes. Note 2 - some ingredients solve multiple issues at the same time like Niacinamide and antioxidants. So you can start adding products that contain these ingredents first. I hope this helps.

Can you please give your opinion about the deconstruct breakout control serum with 3.3% potassium azeloyl diglycenate. Will it be actually helpful at that percentage and with the given ingredients? If so how many times and when it should be used in a week? Help me out. It's a brand from india. The whole ingredients' list is: Aqua, Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf extract, Glycerin, Chamomille Recutita (matricaria) flower extract, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, xylitol, Azardica Indica extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Guar gum, Xanthan gum, Betaine, Sophorolipid, Sodium Gluconate, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Triethanolamine

Hi Dr. Thank you for today's video. One question - I'm 26 year old, have oily acne prone skin, treating my skin for acne marks and acne that appears on and off. I have recently considered to start a skincare routine, after learning a lot from your videos. :) I started with a 2% Salicylic acid cleanser and wanted to know which serum I should try first Niacinamide, Azelaic Acid or Tranexamic. Please advice. Thank you. :)

Hello Dr V! Can you do an "Only essentials" products video for anti ageing routine. Because I have heard many dermatologists say "Less is more for skin care" and some of us can not afford to buy a lot of products also. Can you show us what products are must haves and what products can be ignored? Thank you!

Ahhh hey again Doc! Just curious, but will we get to hear your thoughts on the new mineral sunscreens (tinted and non-tinted) launched by Aveene? Otherwise, I think alot of us would like to hear your recommendations for tinted SPFs suitable for deeper skin tones (sensitive, acneprone etc) that we can wear this summer :D Anyway, thanks again for all that you do, we adore you for it!:)
