I like how her personality is a combination of previous ones. To me it was mostly a mix of Capaldi and Especially Tennant. Hopefully she develops a unique personality as the season goes on!

Yeah, I think it starts out that way for most of the Doctors. Just like David channeled the 5th Doctor or Matt channeled the 2nd. But like you said, they usually come out of their runs as remarkably unique specimens :)

As someone from that area of the UK - I can confirm that Sheffield (which is quite close to where Jodie Whittaker was born and raised and that was her natural accent!) is very close to some beautiful moorland and great views. My parents house was on a road on the edge of the town and as in that area the towns are in the valleys - from the house apart from the plumes of smoke from the factories below - the view were fantastic. I wonder if Sheffield will be featuring a lot in this series as it is the home base of the companions.

I think that outfit will become iconic like Matt Smiths bow tie or Tom Bakers scarf, it has a very strong aesthetic , the colour scheme is gorgeous with the blonde hair.

Hello Late-to the Party, I think the Tardis was also teaching a valuable lesson when it threw the Doctor out. You have to remember that the Tardis is a living entity & that the Doctor was being suicidal in his/her refusal to regenerate in "The Doctor Falls/Twice Upon a Time." The Tardis is the one that finally convinces the Doctor to regenerate. However, the Tardis was still angry with the Doctor for even thinking of leaving both it & the universe completely alone. So the Tardis deposits the Doctor in a place where he/she is needed to show the Doctor that not only is he/she still needed in the Universe, but that there are other people that have bigger problems. That's just my two-cents worth.

I was good with this episode. The Eleventh Hour is still the series opener to beat, but overall, still entertained by what was on screen. Nice reaction, guys! 👍🏾 An aside: loved the Easter eggs that you were dropping during the reaction. Xur would be flattered.

Absolutely love Jodie as The Doctor and really enjoyed the first episode. I'll let slide the fact that "Tim Shaw" was a slight rip off of Predator but there's still one thing that gripes me. How and why does Graham think aliens don't exist?? Of all the events that have transpired on present day Earth during the time of the previous 4 Doctor's, surely the entire planet are aware of extra-terrestrial life by now!

It's probably just a typo by either Robert or Vanessa. Maybe they got confused because Moffat previously always called the women 'girls' ('the girl behind the fireplace', 'the girl who waited', 'the impossible girl', 'the girl with stars in her eyes' etc).

1st, I'm not familiar with Jodie other than this first Doctor Who episode, I don't know her film credits or her acting ability. I've watched all of the seasons of Doctor Who from the first Doctor til the present ( 50 + years ), including the movie. I admit, that the 1st Doctor wasn't that great ( imo, a stick in the mud ), Jodie didn't do the part any credit. She summed up this episode, in my view, when she placed her finger in her nose! I'm sure that the directors and others had good intentions of casting a female Doctor, But Jodie wasn't the right one to go with. Yes, she tried to fill the shoes of previous Doctors, but they were to big for her.

You guys laughed through out the whole thing. I didn't laugh once. Also the history of the Doctor and his regeneration are mapped out for us: the Doctor has NEVER been a female before so I can't stand they keep hinting he has.

History is the past. What's to come hasn't been decided yet. Especially when the TIme Lords decided to grant the Doctor an entirely new regeneration cycle. I mean, technically we shouldn't have gotten Capaldi at all if you're going to be such a stickler for tradition. You should probably also know that the original show creator came up with the idea DECADES ago of making the Doctor a woman. So if you want authoritative sources... it doesn't get much more authoritative than the original creator. Not to mention the fact that the show has a LONG history of mentioning other Time Lords being different genders. When Tom Baker left the show he said, "I wish my successor, whoever he or she may be, the best of luck." It was considered even then that a woman could take the role. That was 1980. This idea is not new, it is, and has been canon for a very long time.

Since the new Dr Who started with Christopher Eccleston, it has been based in Cardiff, capital of Wales. All episodes are made there, as is Torchwood. It goes out on location, e.g. Sheffield. The opening scene is in the Rhondda Valley in South Wales. I know this, as my house is below. It is beautiful. You should visit. It is 20 miles from Cardiff.

It’s great to have another TV reaction from you guys. I know it must be exhausting getting to this after such a long trip, so thanks. I really loved it. I think it falls just behind “The 11th Hour” as my favorite Doctor debut episode. I get so giddy when she finally gets her “I’m The Doctor” moment. And I LOVE this new rendition of the theme. Depends. In the US we call them seasons... because shows usually only come on once in a year (season). In the UK they call them series and they equate to a run of episodes because some shows will come on multiple times within a single year. But the term has stuck in the UK even for shows that only come on for a single run in a year.

@@jacobwheeler1348 not a mistake, I'm fully aware that who's faces they belong to isn't cut and dry, if you take into consideration 1. Morbius wanted to know how many lives Doctor had had. 2. Rule #1: The Doctor lies. 3. The quotes in episode 2 on Sunday. "The Timeless Child" and the quote from the cloth that I can't remember exactly but they talk about knowing things about the Doctor that she's forgotten. Using all that information you can come to the conclusion that maybe just maybe, Chibnal is instigating a version of The Cartmel Masterplan which was hinted at during Sylvester McCoy time as Doctor but due to series cancellation never came to fruition

This season has been horrific. No issues with Jodie being the doctor or any other female for that matter. The writing has been absolutely horrific from start to finish it’s not been SCFI it’s just been a far left wing political video and I’m sorry this Doctor series is the worst I have ever seen.
