Your very Lucky Matthew, you've been given ones that have fully painted midsections. We common customers on the other hand are getting half arsed, lazy, cheep half painted midsections. I don't blame you for this, but I think it's a disgusting practise by Charater Options, and false advertising.

They could be separate batches, some with mid section painting and some without (a factory error) Captainjimipie also got an advanced set and it was lacking the Black paint on the mid section

@@conorcrilly1304 Unfortunately, t's been confirmed that all of the production line (the ones in shops) don't have the mid-section painted black and it was just a full advanced samples that did have the fully painted mid-section.

@@azngf In my opinion it's false advertising, and the last I checked that was illegal. I dont think I'll be buying this set, and I advise others don't aswell. We can't let this slide. Or it'll happen every year.

@@JBLaserModels well it doesn't make much sense to me Why they all can't have the fully painted middle section. I don't blame Matthew for this, I just find it strange.

I swapped the guns on mine too, though I didn't have the sound effects version I did have the orange lights/machine gun version from FP, so swapping them made sense. I asked Al about the gun, apparently the black gun just looks wrong on this one, I couldn't understand how that could be, but someone on a forum I'm on tried it and yes, I can see it, in action figure form on that colour scheme of dalek, the black gun does look somehow off. One thing you didn't mention, and I never noticed this until the announcement came and people started pointing it out in the pictures, despite me having had the real things in hand for weeks, is that the slats are a new sculpt, they're slightly wider, slightly flatter, I'm guessing the old tooling wore out there, since it's been used a heck of a lot these past few years. You seem to have gotten lucky, like me, and gotten a set of daleks where the midsection is black, apparently only a tiny number of them are like that, just some of the sample sets and none of the ones destined for stores, the rest all have the back half painted silver, which is a real shame, I think that's going to put people off what is otherwise the most attractive pair of daleks we've had in the HOTD range

Always liked these Silver Drones. It's a really good story, and shows Daleks using their intelligence to solve problems that many stories don't.

My favourite Dalek design in the entire history, and they've cut corners to save a few bucks. No dispute that costs have risen, but I'd rather pay more to have the diorama & window so my HOTD sets stay consistent. The collector market cares more for quality & accuracy than pinching pennies. Probably B&M have set the price point for the deal, so Al and Character had to make the product fit the price, which is the problem with this exclusive arrangement. Conversely, we wouldn't have this item at all were it not for B&M.

Apparently its on the advanced/preview copies, when the sets hits the shelves, the mid section are painted half black, according to The Doctor Who Site.

Have to say disappointments regarding the packaging and lack of fully black shoulders apart these do look to be an improvement in terms of the paint, the dome lights and those slats look way better now. Great review as always.

@@waded4610 I don't understand how they could possibly mess up genesis daleks seeing they're a very simple design. And the destiny daleks in the past haven't been the most accurate anyways so hopefully going forward, accuracies shouldn't be an issue since most of the inaccuracies have been with the mid section with some of them being factory errors. No daleks going forward have midsections that are different to the main dalek colour so we *should* be OK going forward.

@@JamesMondasian Simple? Yeah. Does that mean they'll make definitive dalek figures with accurate paint jobs and color palates instead of rereleasing the originals? That's where the problem lies. For CO, the original first edition Genesis Dalek is the best one out of all. They were never quite able to replicate it after 2008, and instead used a weird dull grey instead of a gloss battleship grey like the props. Destiny Daleks was understandable how that occurred, Al was trying to "replicate the harsh studio lights" and environment of that story. Truth be told, they made for good variants and even had a level of legitimacy to them.
