The composer, Murray Gold, is brilliant! I love his music during this era. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales performed it. They had live performances, as well, Doctor Who at the Proms. Just stunning.

The music in the first 10 seasons of new who is exceptional.... murray gold is a fantastic composer.... if you look on KZbin you'll find dr who at the proms where they play his music in the royal albert hall with giant screens showing clips and monsters walking amongst the audience.... check them out they are excellent!!

What the Doctor saw in Reinette (Madame de Pomadour): I think because Reinette saw into the Doctor’s mind (albeit by accident), he felt she would be someone who would understand him in ways a regular companion never could. And to clarify (I think you got this but wasn’t sure): Because the Doctor didn’t know the name of the ship, he didn’t realise that the repair droids of the SS Madame de Pomadour were (in their confused way) looking for the real Madame de Pomadour (of the same age as the ship) to use as the missing component … because the name was the same, they thought she was the same; thus, she was what they needed.

This is one of the fan favs I love this ep of series 2, its a sad episode with a twist of love story in it.

Renette was a "soul mate" of sorts to the 10th Doctor. When he probed her memories (and she probed his), they connected on a profound level. His reaction to losing her shows that. She was as close to an intellectual/artistic/spiritual equal to the Doctor as a "normal human" could be.

One of my favorites...a classic by Moffat. I think the Doctor was enamored by her because she's was brilliant. Yes, this episode is deep. YOu speak of Rose's jealousy, notice when Rose, Mickey, Reinette and the Doctor confront the robot and the Doctor tells them the robots want the head of Mme Du Pompadour, notice that Rose says, "Why her?" All of time and history, "WHY HER?" Rose isn't just asking why the robots want Mme Du Pompadour; she' s asking the Doctor why he's choosing Reinette.

Amazing writing and direction to make you care about characters so much in just 30 to 40 minutes... ps david tennant actually dated the girl that played madam de pompadour for a while after this episode...

Having seen a lot of other Dr Who reactions I know that you are allowed to feature 10 minutes of fair use footage. You seem to edit a lot less than this. It's your channel of course but I think it makes your content less watchable tbh.

Thats a totally fair statement. I certainly havent mastered the art of editing these things. Every show is different with what they can get away with. Every episode of DW gets blocked inititally and i have to appeal to get them released. Battlestar Galactica i cant even put on YT no matter how short the edit, always gets blocked and they wont release on appeal. The Expanse can be hit or miss with what I can get away with. Id love to figure out the editing techniques people are using to get around the censors. Im a one man show, with only so much time, but I'll continue working on improving my edits, for sure. Thanks for the feedback.

Fantastic episode. Very well written and acted. My least favorite of the season though.
