I wish I had found natural glaucoma videos like this years ago, when I was first discovered that I had high eye pressure, which has been consistently 27/28 in the last 4 years. When I asked my ophthalmologist about natural ways to lower IOP such as supplements, his answer was that only eye drops are proven to help. After recently discovering videos like this, I have been doing eye massages everyday for the last 2 weeks, in addition to taking the Amazing Grass superfood powder, and wild salmon fish oil. I also used pycnogenol and billberry. I have also been walking more briskly lately for exercise, and intermittent fasting for the last 6 months. I had my eyes checked again yesterday, and to my amazement and the surprise of the assistant, my eye pressure went down to left 20 / right 23! I feel like a combination of things are working, not knowing which is most effective, and I will continue to do them. Intuitively, I feel like the eye massages helped a lot, where at least the eyes feel more relaxed afterward. I incorporated different massage and acupressure videos for glaucoma that I found on KZbin. I hope this helps. God bless!

I just had my eye exam this past week. I have excellent blood pressure. Always have. This year, I opted for more extensive exam for my optic nerves.. my doctor noticed that my right eye has a lot more pressure than it should for some reason. She told me to not worry about it. that she will compare with next year. Hell no! I asked her what I can do. She said there is no way to really prevent glaucoma. She told me there was really nothing I can do except for take an exam in six months and then another one so that she can compare them all. I said that would make it a full year of not doing diddly squat. Now I am watching your video and I see that there is plenty that I can do. I honestly don’t understand why more. Doctors are not this helpful. It’s sad. I’m a little bit pissed off. She gave me no other options. Except for getting another exam in six months. I see now that I have plenty of things that I can do just by following any or all of these suggestions. Thank you.

@@Learner-lq3vu absolutely! I’ve been tested 3 times since I was diagnosed ( and requested repeated testing … which was provided) Actually, this very day I was tested again and zero glaucoma was detected. Zero. My first optometrist just told me I had it in one eye and nothing could be done but monitoring it every 6 months. I became very despondent until I did my own research and followed the most reliable sources such as this to address and heal my eye.. I pray you have the same healing experience.

@@Realalma actually I am on the same boat as you. My eye doctor recently tested my eye with oct report and they are saying that you have early glaucoma in both eye. I was shocked to hear that I am myopic patient with -2.00 in right eye and -1.75 in left eye. I dont have any family history of glaucoma. They even gave me lumigen eye drop. Currently I am not using it. I want it to be confirmed by another ophthalmologist. I cant tell you all day I am thinking about this glaucoma thing my life became hell. I hope I dont have this thing.

I’ve been sleeping in a high back chair for six months. My sleep is deeper and longer. I wake up with more rested and relaxed eyes…and my sinuses (both nostrils) are open. Doing breathing exercises before sleep (in the high back chair) appears to greatly increase my sleep. FYI, sleeping in a high back chair was recommended after a glaucoma and cataract treatment was performed.

Is the blurriness from the stress or something else? I had really blurry eyes onset after worrying about my vision. Went to eye doctor. Have contacts on and glasses on the way. PLUS going to glaucoma specialist likely narrow angle like my mom and sister but we will see. Doc said the blurriness wasn’t from my glaucoma so likely hyper focused and freaking out what is wrong with eyes. Maybe anxiety and panic attacks. If so don’t feel alone and breath lightly and evenly and r-e-l-a-x until you see your doctor.

Dr. Allen, thanks for sharing all the best topics & information about Eye issues & benefits on your KZbin channel! the norm of visiting doctors today is either virtual or, at the office for a very limited time! Doctors don’t have time to explain the situation to their patients. They think writing a prescription is all the patients want !! That is so sad. Thanks to the internet & thanks to you & other sources of information we can educate ourselves.

Thank you for sharing. I just came from an optometrist appt in which I learned I had very high eye pressure. The Dr said there aren't any ways to reverse it and basically glaucoma is inevitable- meaning there's not much I could do to prevent further degeneration but I refuse to believe there's nothing that can be done. Btw I know the very act of seeking this info out is confirmation bias but this is objectively solid information. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the information. I’m being treated for glaucoma in my left eye, but my right eye has too much trauma in it, since I had surgeries on my right eye over the years and can’t have the laser treatment. The right eye has has a thicker cornea,I guess because of the trauma, but my surgeon feels that because it wasn’t thick at birth, it doesn’t have the benefit that usually thicker corneas have. Is this true, or is it possible that I still have the benefit of a thicker cornea, even though it was due to trauma. Thank you so much for your time. Peter. (I also heard about non-drug hydrogel. Is there anything to this?)

Overall eye health is important. While I have glaucoma, it has not deteriorated in about a decade since when an eye doctor told me that a Bausch and Lomb pill will halt macular degeneration (not reverse already existing damage; mother had that). Since then, and for about a decade, I've been taking Bausch & Lomb PreserVision AREDS 2 with Multi vitamin and have not needed new eyeglasses either and I'm 72. Not any kind of medical pro, but I would personally recommend anyone/everyone discussing those pills with their own eye doctor to see if they're a good idea for you. Protecting your eyes from glare is important, too.

I'm In Pennsylvania. My pressure is high and three different surgeries have not worked. I have taken two different pills Methazolamide and Acetazolamide. What horrors. The first I took for 5 months. I had bowel issues, fatigue, couldn't leave my house until 2:00 in the afternoon, depression. A horror. My doctor said that most of his patients can tolerate it for a month, but I was on it for 5 months. Then a third unsuccessful surgery. I see a specialist at a very world renowned hospital. I also have iritis. Yep. Lucky me. So I am desperate for something that doesn't require a steroid eye drop and doesn't require surgery. The second pill isn't much better, but it has only been a week. Loose bowels that made me late to work two days in a row. I am desperate. I am listening to your message very carefully. Hoping for a miracle, which would be lowering my pressure 20-25%. Thank you. I have a little bit of hope. I have had these eye conditions since 2004 and I am now in my early 60s.

Checking in on the replay from CA. I’ve had ocular hypertension for many years and I’ve been watched as a suspect with no active glaucoma. Being monitored and tested regularly with my ophthalmologist. So I’m interested in things that can help lower eye pressures.

My paternal grandpa had glaucoma & lost his vision & had one eye enucleated. My father also had glaucoma, but lost no vision. He had laser treatments. My spouse was diagnosed with glaucoma at age 40 & lost no vision for 40 years. I visit my eye doctor annually and do not have glaucoma. Thankfully. My siblings & daughter go each year to eye doctor, too.

As an ophthalmologist who treats thousands of patients with glaucoma I do feel compelled to contribute here. Some of the things mentioned here MAY have some potential benefit for glaucoma patients but by and large, the data here is mixed, meaning some studies showed benefit and others did not. Also know that some of these supplements have potential side effects, such as increased risk for bleeding, particularly if taken in large quantities. Please understand that these remedies are meant to SUPPLEMENT the medical and/or surgical treatments recommended by your treating physician. Please do not rely on these suggestions alone to manage your glaucoma.

I've heard that green smoothies can encourage kidney stones. I like to cook my kale or greens (mustard, turnip and collards) and season them with garlic powder and Better than Bullion even use a bit of Bragg's aminos before eating. Tastes good to me.
@DoctorEyeHealth
@DoctorEyeHealth Жыл бұрын
OOOh that sounds great!!!! There is some reported concerns of eating greens and the development of kidney stones but the doctors I have spoken to have told me that is rarely seen and not a concern. In fact the number one cause of kidney stones comes from people NOT eating enough vegetables and not drinking enough water. Some people don't digest oxylates well and in those cases spinach is recommended to avoid but all the other greens are still great. But as always, best to consult a local health professional if you are concerned.

I've heard supplementing with calcium helps mitigate the absorption of oxylates. Also, steaming greens helps to get rid of a significant amount of oxylates from the greens themselves.
@suzanneemerson9787
@suzanneemerson9787 Жыл бұрын
@@ozonelayercake Check that out again from different sources. There is plenty of calcium in vegetables. Most doctors say do not supplement with calcium because too much in your system will lead to hardening of the arteries and heart attack. Get your calcium in natural form from a good amount of leafy greens every day. Also, if you do take calcium (please don’t) you need vitamin K with it to be safe.

Due to high blood pressure and extremely high cholesterol, my dietician friend told me i was in line for a stroke, this was 10 years ago. Since then, I started on smoothies along with adding more salads to my diet, my BP and cholesterol have been excellent. I start everyday with 1 leaf organic kale, 1 banana, ice, water, very simple recipe, blend with the grinding blades. Later, i experimented with coconut and/or 1/4 Avocado, delicious! I've never had any stones. I believe this juice is a healer. It even makes me feel more balanced and healthy immediately after, it's crazy.

I have Keratoconus on both eye with a transplantation on my left eye, I used Dexamethasone and my left eye had a pressure of 40 while my right eye only has like 10. I'm now making sure they lower my pressure on my left eye in the hospital and eventually with an operation if it doesn't lower like they want it to be. It's like you said, most people don't realize when they have Glaucoma until it's too late and they have already a lot of damage in their vision. But thanks to my Keratoconus they always check my eye pressure on both eyes as something standard and told me today that I was good on time and they did some sort of a scan and didn't find any damage, also I didn't lose any vision. So I kinda have to thank my Keratoconus to make sure I'm good on time with it.

I went blind in my left eye with glaucoma. If I look back I realise I should have gone for regular eye checks. In my youth I couldn’t afford to pay for eye tests and glasses. Also my doc knew I had high blood pressure because it was checked every six months when I went for my pill description but it never got treated. Eventually the high blood pressure caused a thrombosis in the back of my eye.

Avoid dry eye compresses that are TOO HOT. I have a theory that it somewhat cooks your eyes and causes obstruction in the trabecular mesh work and drainage areas. Just a theory….since I did way too hot compresses. PS. After using Protopic (tacrimilus ointment) on my eye lids, my inflammation went down and the oil tear film got better.

Greetings from Austria! This is a video I was waiting for! Stream aired at 2am so I watched this the next morning. My questions: - What about Omega 3? I read somewhere it helps protect the optical nerve ... - What about the cannabinoid CBG? Cannabis used to be "the" classic application for medical cannabis once upon a time, right? Seems contemporary sources suggest if at all it is the CBG compound that is beneficial?
@DoctorEyeHealth
@DoctorEyeHealth Жыл бұрын
Hey Thank you!!! 1. Omega 3 studies are a bit mixed when it comes to glaucoma, not many studies looking at it specifically. But it has been found to be helpful for the retina and many cases of dry eye disease. For retinal disease, it helps reduce inflammation, such as in cases of diabetic retinopathy. So the idea is sound, but I don't have any studies to recommend a certain amount to take. 2. I will have to look more into CBG specifically. The use of medical marijuana has been studies for glaucoma for over 60 years, however, the effects are reported to be rather transient and there are concerns over smoking substances and causing more damage to the body. Enough so that I have never heard of a glaucoma specialist write a prescription for medical marijuana, other treatments are just far safer and more cost effective. As far as edibles and supplements, I am not sure of studies showing the effects on IOP. But I imagine it could have some effect on reducing stress lol

I was diagnosed with traumatic glaucoma last year. Been on 3 eye drops a day and had Ahmed valve surgery to lower my pressure even more since my baseline pressure in my left eye was 50. I asked my doctor if there was any vitamins I could take to help even more but told me there wasn’t enough evidence to prove they’re effective. I’ve been doing my own research now though and on top of the vitamins you listed there’s also nicotinamide and citicoline. My pressure in my left eye was 18 last appointment. I started taking a lot of different vitamins since then and I’ll see in a few months if there’s any positive changes at my next appointment.
