I’m so happy to say that I’m 38 and have the best skin of my life. Zero lines or wrinkles, lips still lump, no breakouts ever, no rosacea, no nothing. I’m lucky enough a family member is a dermatologist and she drilled into me when I was a kid the importance of wearing sunscreen every day; I’m glad I listened.

Ageing era lol. You are in your prime my doctor told me and that most ruined their bodies in their 20s to get pregnant, stressed out, neglecting their health mentally and physically because they felt pressure and wanted to follow the crowd. I didn't. I still look the same I did at 20. 10 years, if you are careful does not age you. My whole family waited in their late 30s to procreate, focusing on their health, career, traveling and freedom. We all look healthy feel great while others seem jealous and envious. Yes wear sunscreen, yes eat well and exercise. Follow the basics which most idiots fail to retain younger.

I’m 64. Yes, this is a very recent photo. I have one word: Sunscreen 🧴 everyday since I was 32 years old-back in 1992. I was a Resource Specialist Teacher. I always asked students to bring sunscreen to school and if I happen to have a group before recess, I allowed time for them to put it on before recess. Hands always need washing at school. They washed up first, applied sunscreen, and afterwards went outside for recess. I tried to time it so the sunscreen went on about 15 minutes before they went outside. I taught at a school that was by the Atlantic Ocean. We were essentially across the meandering “highway”-a two lane road-from the water. The students were almost always in or near the water. This is why I made sure to actively remind them of sunscreen. When I was in my 30s, I started using a couple of Paula’s Choice products and Neutrogena retinol-that’s it. I used to use Ombrélle sunscreen for kids. Now, I use Avéne kids sunscreen, in the pump. It spreads very easily. For some reason, I need sunscreen with more titanium dioxide in them-otherwise, sunscreen irritates my eyes. Sometimes, I layer a couple of different sunscreens or I apply the Avéne tinted sunscreen on top of the Avéne kids sunscreen. I have never had a major surgical treatment or Botox. I had milia under my eyes lasered off. I’m disabled now, so it’s a challenge doing regular cleanup tasks. That’s when the milia started. My under eyes used to look dark, but once the milia were removed (I had a lot of them, but you could only see them when I pulled my skin back), my undereye area looked bright!! The lesson there is no matter how fatigued you are, wash off that sunscreen.

Love this video. I literally turned 30 and 3 months later my skin FLIPPEDDDD THE LID! I’m 33 now and have gotten control over it thank Christ. But I now have hormonal acne. And my pores and weird and I have sunspots which is my fault obviously (16 years of lifeguarding and tanning) and then there’s the lovely bags under my eyes which are puffy instead of sunk in which is preferred for me but still so annoying. And oddly my skin is SO DRY. Which I think was making my skin break out. I’m tryna get control over the dryness now. My whole life I had beautiful clear no problem skin. Not dry not oily, no breakouts, so… it was huge for me to say the least. Took a huge toll on my confidence:/

Same! But in my 30s, I’ve experienced that using birth control can alter your skin cycles when you use it. Due to tapping into the flow of hormones, it can cause ongoing inflammation, cystic acne, eczema, patches of discoloration, and hyper dryness. I’m planning on discontinuing using any kind and just getting a basal body thermometer.

I finally went to Derm to create an informed medically licensed foundation for skincare and guidance in my 30s heading to 40s. I'm amazingly genetically blessed, with no wrinkles or age spots yet. When my skin is healthy only hyperpigmentation is my major problem. Right now, I am actively going through a breakout, I got exposed at work in the ED, so now antibiotics for 2mos. But my Dermatologist started me with hormonal blockage treatment regimen to also help with acne vulgaris. I am an AVID user of SPF and collagen supplement daily now with resetting spf spray every 2hrs throughout the day. Much of my problem was sun damage and avitaminosis; my iron, vit D, vit E, and vit B were low. I have 6 months of work to do, but I am ready for this journey. Thank you Dermatology. But daily SPF has been a must for me for years. I also got my first grey hair at 19 (it starts early in my family) and I'm all for embracing it! There are some things that are in my control and other things aren't. Also, I know some people can't afford a lot of these things (e.g Botox or a personal trainer). When I moved to the city and started working, I can now afford other skin care products and I'm very excited every pay day to go to the store and browse all brand new products. Fast forward to my 30's, I suddenly have hormonal acne. I went to a dermatologist and after a couple of months my skin is almost 100% perfect. I’m 36 and only really now stepping up with my skincare routine. Last few years I’ve been neglecting myself in general and since my teenage years I was always fairly ambivalent about skin care. Just from moisturising properly I’ve noticed a decent improvement but all the things you’ve mentioned I notice on my skin. I just hope I’ve not left things too long and I’m beyond salvaging. 😅

So glad Dr Maxfield mentioned surfing! In my mid 30s… I know I can elevate my routine as a surfer, I’m just nervous to try chemicals because of the amount of sun im exposed to. I cake my zinc out in sessions and use dch cleanser once I’m out. I use vitamin c serum and sunscreen for the day and vitamin c serum and a moisturizer for night, halp! My skin is dry and not sure I’m doing the right routine. Thank you for this video!

I am 34 year old and I have combination sensitive skin. I have texture, rosacea on my cheeks, oily chin and nose. I also tend to get milia on my cheeks. I am struggling finding the right routine tbh. I tried adding retinol but honestly I don’t see any improvement. At the moment my skin is so dry and sensitive that I went back to basics - cleansing with Toleriane, moisturizing with Nivea, and sunscreen 50+.

Hi guys. I’ve noticed the same thing that Dr. Shah mentioned regarding to using sunscreen everyday. First I thought I just imagined it all, but honestly the chemical ones can keep my rosacea prone skin under control, no flare ups, keeping my skin cool to the touch even when I walk in direct sunshine, and when I wash it off my skin looks better, smooth texture and soft. It’s like a miracle. I mainly use J-beauty products, the one I have now is Biore Skin Aqua.

Thumbnail made me think this was going to be a retrospective on skin care in the 1930s, which would be a fascinating set of videos for you guys to do. There’s so much information on beauty products all the way back to the earliest days of civilization; it would be great to hear a modern doctor’s take on all of it…

I have the healthiest glowiest skin in my 20s. I did all the skincare routine recommended. Started retinoid at 27. Sunscreen since 15. UNFORTUNATELY, I am currently experiencing hormonal acne, at 32 😭😭 I thought maybe because I lose weight (15kg) that caused my skin to react this way. But now I know. I’m so desperate to get my skin to its glory years again 😢

Naked Sundays is my holy grail for the 3 or 4 years….I use the Mineral Collagen Glow SPF 50 + as my daily facial sunscreen, with age my skin sensitivity has increased and a tinted mineral sunscreen is a better choice for me. I’m so In love with this sunscreen that I buy the bundle pack of 3 jumbo tubes at a time, Ultraviolette make fabulous sunscreens, this is my daughters go to favourite brand. Bondi Sands (the fragrance free one is a Dr Dray favourite as well), Ego Sunsense was my go to brand for probably 20 years they make a really nice daily facial sunscreen and really big pump bottles of body sunscreen. Invisible Zinc was my first favourite tinted mineral sunscreen. These are my personal favourites Michelle Wong, Lab Muffin is a fabulous source of information on Australian sunscreens. FYI my skin is normal to dry sensitive and I can’t tolerate any fragrance in skincare since menopause.

BTW just turned 30 so I love this!! And my skin has started changing with my first pregnancy and the stress of my first two kids in my late 20ies.. I swear with my first pregnancy I got perioral dermatitis the first time without too much skin care just from hormones and it’s never ever going away since then. I hate it.. acelaic acid helps but not to the degree it’s going away
