Could you do a sensitive skin anti-aging / well-aging product suggestion or routine video? Everybody talks about how to calm skin, but no one talks about how to address aging sensitive skin after getting the eczema or rosacia prone skin in a relatively good place. What's actually out there that might not cause a flare-up, & that might also help with skin damage after a flare up?

In my younger years I had terribly sensitive skin, rosacea and eczema. Supposed creams for sensitive skin would cause redness and blisters. I got IPL done for the red capillaries and the sensitivity magically went away. It was so frustrating for so many years. BUT...there's more. The reason I had IPL was I had gone no contact with my family for a year, hence being able to spend money on myself. Now that I have been no contact several years , and gained the self esteem I never had, I find my sciatica, migraines, all skin issues have gone away. I no longer blush either as... no shame... I do hope this helps a young person who is struggling. Turns out I wasn't a loser, they were.

THANK YOU! Boy did I need this video! Not only is my skin very sensitive I also have psoriasis. I was suffering from burning, stinging and rough flaky patches on my cheeks. I used my sensitive skin cleanser followed by numbuzin serum, thin layer of 1% hydrocortisone (for 2 days) topped off with La Roche Posay Toleraine Dermallergo and in 3 days I had my soft, smooth cheeks back! I'm sticking with the numbuzin & La Roche Posay. No irritation, no burning, no stinging, just soft hydrated skin! SO HAPPY!

Watch out for castor seed oil (ricinus communis) in your lip care and lip color. It is was in so many products that I was using. My skin began to react to it a couple of years ago. I heard it mentioned in a Doctorly video as a reactive ingredient present in lip products, so I eliminated all products containing it and switched to straight CeraVe Healing ointment. My lips cleared right up in just a couple of days. Worth a try.

It’s very gentle on my face and $10 on Amazon. The last few months I’ve been using beef tallow as a moisturizer, just a small amount because it’s oily! But it’s also very gentle and my face feels so soft and stays moisturized for way longer.

Love the video, super informative! I’m always interested in products that lower irritation and inflammation since over time that can destroy the collagen in the skin. I just found the Toleriane cleanser too and think it might right for me. If you don’t mind me asking what other products in the range do you recommend and how do you use them? I liked the idea that you could use the cleanser without water because even water can make my skin red but in practice it seems almost impossible to remove without water. Or am I doing something wrong? Do you use water with the cleanser?

Thank You! I'm in my early sixties, have had mild rosacea for many years, and just recently began my worst flare ever. Sharing what products to try, recommending routines of cleanser, serum, moisturizer AND sunscreen gives me hope that I can soon look more like myself instead of an acne plagued teenager. You two are my trusted source for all things skincare. Thank you SO much for cutting through all the product hype and simply stating which ingredients and over-the-counter products will help. And yes, if after trying these products you spoke of I'm still having problems, I'll make an appointment with a Dermatologist. I only hope they will be as helpful as you two are, and not as self-involved as the ones I have already seen. If you have any suggestions for finding an excellent, or even credible Dermatologist I'm all ears. Thanks for your channel, for your expertise, and for your kindness. Be well.

Ditto on Vanicream. I use their gentle cleanser and cream on face and body. I have dry, super sensitive skin. I tried the other Vanicream product you mentioned but it broke me out. Real bummer. I was so excited about it. My face hates Cerave. Who knows why but I do love the cream for my body. I have only found one sunscreen that doesn’t irritate or break my face out: fragrance-free, EVY Kids, SPF 50. Pricey but it keeps me ghostly. I think lips are wicked important too when building a routine. The safest bet, for me, is Vaseline (though I find Aquafor more effective but I am not allergic to it. The Cerave product was a no-go). Body washes, I love baby and eczema ones, though I am neither a baby nor have eczema: Cetaphil, Eucerin, Aveeno and I like the Vanicream body bar. Hair, too, fragrance-free. I try and avoid botanicals too…and you are so right, one might have to eliminate some good ingredients to avoid irritation. Thanks for the deep dive!

The minute perimenopause came for me, every mattifying product I had ever purchased to manage oily skin was suddenly problematic. I've spent hundreds of dollars throwing out old products and buying new ones with moisturizing, dewy ingredients due to shockingly dry skin. Within a few months it became sensitive as well, so now I need dewey, anti-aging AND anti-inflammatory products. I have already gone from using Retin-A to Differin and vitamin c to niacinamide, and now the Differin has started giving me a rash too. 🙄 As if dealing with hair loss, HRT, dietary and exercise changes aren't enough! NIOD’s Modulating Glucosides also contains 4-T-BUTYLCYCLOHEXANOL and it’s been great to immediately calm down stinging and redness as I work to rebuild my moisture barrier. It is expensive, unfortunately, but if you can catch a sale then my opinion is that it’s definitely worth it. A little product also goes a long way, so I think it’s going to last a while.

I wish I had found Vanicream cleanser years ago! I love that stuff. Doesn't mess up my skin at all. I also love their new SPF 30 moisturizer that you showed. Basically, I have to use creams instead of lotions because the lotions just don't do it. Thanks for the recommendations!

Oh man! I have thrown HUNDREDS (maybe thousands) of dollars worth of products at my face over the years & you basically hit all my skincare. I have sensitive, dry skin with flare ups of rosacea, perioral dermatitis, allergic to soooo many common things like SLS (I will get rashes)…. I do great with azelaic acid, some cica, PC peptide booster, Mandelic acid, and my holy grails Aveeno Calm & restore, and the dear klairs unscented supple prep toner! And then a basic oil or aquaphor over it at night if I’m super super dry! And mineral sunscreen all the way! I can’t find a chemical one that doesn’t give me a rash!!!!!

Is the Aveeno Calm & Restore and restore really good for drier skin and does it cause breakouts for you?

Always appreciate videos about sensitive skin! 😊 I have combination, very sensitive, rosacea prone skin and have been loving Cetaphil 's Redness Control, LRP's Toleriane and Bioderma's Sensibio lines. Additionally, for a couple of months now, 1-2x a week max I alternatively use azelaic acid and Cerave Resurfacing Retinol serum, no irritation so far! 🙏 Could you recommend a good physical sunscreen available in Europe? Thank you!

In my teens, I was able to use Sea Breeze on my face 2x a day (bad, I know!) Fast forward to menopause and my skin freaks out at various things-alcohol, fragrance, seaweed extracts, the weather etc. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll be ordering the Cica serum and the Eucerin today. Ty!

@doctorly, thank you for another well thought out, researched and helpful video! Please consider testing out and reviewing some of the products from Prequel. It is a newer line and Dr. Sam Ellis developed the core products with sensitive skin folks in mind and skin barrier health. I am a truly sensitive skin type and her line has impressed me so far. Her Gleanser and brand new mineral sunscreen are new holy grails for me.

Thank you for sharing these tips for sensitive skin. A few of my favorites... Neutrogena Ultra Gentle fragrance-free creamy cleanser, Vanicream Moisturizing lotion and Sunscreen SPF 30 🥰 This sunscreen applies nicely with a matte finish. My laundry soap is also fragrance-free. Take care everyone 🌹

If you can’t use the Aveeno because of the Feverfew in it you can try Krave Oat So Simple or one of Purito’s oat moisturizers. I have rosacea and love the Krave moisturizer, but it’s too much in the summer for my oily skin. So I’m going to try the Purito oat gel moisturizer this summer.

I have rosacea and my skin is sensitive but I also have blackheads and occasional acne. I'm able to use tretinoin .05 and a BHA toner, alternating days. I cannot do physical exfoliation at all. I'm extremely sensitive around my nose and mouth. I double cleanse using CeraVe oil cleanser first then Cetaphil gentle after. Follow that with Elf holy hydration moisturizer and the elf holy hydration spray. I use moisturizer first before applying tretinoin but I can apply the BHA directly to my skin.

This is great info. My problem is that most liquids, gels, and serums tend to burn, even if they have calming ingredients. Plain Vanicream is always good. So glad we have gentle options.
