Dear Dr. Mike, That is not a cigar, it’s a pipe. This snowman is based on the Victorian version of a snowman. They were made by children playing outside in the snowy winter. To finish it off, kids would use stuff that was readily available i.e.: pieces of coal, which would have been small lumps of coal from the kitchen stove, fireplace or furnace. Traditionally, when a snowman is finished one would use lumps of coal for the eyes and mouth, a carrot for the nose, a scarf around the neck and yes an old pipe that would have been have been used by their father when pipe smoking was more popular, available and prevalent than cigarettes. Oh yes, and top hats were the common attire at one time and so many households had a top hat lying around. Commonly a corn cob pipe was used if not, your dad’s or grandfather’s old pipe. When I was young our house was heated with a coal furnace in the cellar and we used coal in our fireplace. Branches were used as arms with the twigs at the ends representing fingers.

This really sounds like you are crossing the Grinch with A Christmas Carol. In that, Christmas Present tells Scrooge that he sees a vacant seat and a crutch without an owner, foreshadowing Tiny Tims' death. Scrooge asks that he be spared and Present tells him "If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, none other of my race will find him here". His "race" is Christmas Presents. He is born at midnight and dies at midnight. He says he has "over 1800" siblings, of which he is the youngest. If taken literally, no other Christmas Present will find Tiny Tim alive. I could be totally wrong, but there is no mention of the Grinch dying, and your description of not living to see another Christmas fits the other so well.@@ryu_798

If you ever find yourself in a situation where you're barefoot (or in socks) and you have to walk across a floor of broken glass, do the "stingray shuffle"; find a clear path to place your feet, then slide your feet across the floor without lifting them, gently brushing aside shards of glass when necessary. That way you can get to safety without seriously wounding yourself in the process. Fun fact: it's called the "stingray shuffle" because that is the same way to avoid stepping on stingrays when walking in shallow waters on the beach (by shuffling your feet in short strides along the sea floor as they kick up the sand underwater). The vibrations in the sand also help to let stingrays nearby know your presence and take caution.

There’s a scene in “Die Hard” where after McClame sets off the C4 the cop in charge says he’s got a 100 people covered in glass. McClane says “Glass? Who gives a s*** about glass?” Die Hard also likes to foreshadow.

For those who wants to know the backstory of the Grinch, it has nothing to do with an animal, but why he created the story. Actually, in fact, Dr. Seuss himself was the inspiration behind the Grinch who Stole Christmas story after realizing he was missing something while going through his wife having problems. So, he used his experience with looking in a mirror to find what he was missing to write a story to express the message that everyone no matter how disgusting they may be, can change.

10:29 reminds me of my friend who I lost 3 years ago from cancer 💔💔. But its the best memory I have of her, we both were on our night shift and at the break we decided to eat an ice cream bar. So we paid and opened it and her tongue got stuck to it, and me being me I was on the ground laughing my lungs out. I had to take her to the washroom after I was finished laughing and put tap water on it for it to come out. OMG! I miss her so much, we had some great fun shifts together. ❤❤❤

The Grinch wasn't _just_ exercising... He spent the whole night gathering everything the people in town owned onto this sleigh through their chimneys while they slept (except the beds they were asleep in) and in this scene he's trying to single-handedly prevent the whole sleigh from sliding down the snowy mountain. Prior to this he was a hermit who stayed home all the time, so he's likely not in great shape. Also for reference, they say earlier in the movie that his heart was two sizes too small. It grew three sizes in this scene, so it's now one size too large. I'm not sure how these sizes compare to any actual measurements...

Back in the late Depression, my dad stuck his tongue to a pole. He wound up freeing himself, leaving behind a very small piece of his tongue, and bled all over his new shirt on the way home. My German/Russian grandma wasn’t happy, to say the least. To this day, he’ll never rat out who dared him to do it. He’s 93, and that secret will go with him to the grave. 😆

Oh the power of the double dare. My brother was jokingly doubled dared by my sister into eating a piece of rock salt (Poisonous) when we were waiting for the school bus. He did it. When we got to school, he told our science teacher who was concerned (he was fine... I think the nurse monitored him for a hour but he was luckily fine...) and upset. She really lectured me and my sister for letting our brother do something that dumb (we were all 13 at the time (we are triplets) so... I mean it was on him but also teenage boys can't turn down a double dare). Moral: don't double dare teenage boys into doing dumb/dangerous things because they will most likely do it / don't eat rock salt.

My husband had cardiomyopathy. He collapsed at 28 and had to have three valves replaced (his mitral, aortic, and tricuspid) and a pacemaker out in. He benched 165 lbs daily right before this. He knew something was wrong when he couldn’t pick up a 10 lb box at work. Turns out his heart was literally 3x the size it was supposed to be and his ejection fraction was 25%. The Grinch gives me flashbacks, but I still love it.

When I was a child, we used to spend tons of time at the creek by our house. One popular hang out was a small beach area. I remember wading into knee deep water and feeling a sensation akin to loose skin flapping in the water... looked down to find a HUGE pool of blood around my feet... had stepped on the complete broken bottom of a soda bottle and needed over 200 stitches to close it up
