We are back at it responding to your comments and questions via this monthly video series. I love reading and responding to your comments and as you can tell I'll jump into the comments section with a reply or a heart quite often. If one of the questions I answered was not detailed enough or you want more info on the subject please let me know so that I can make a dedicated video giving you all of the info!
A few favorite topics from this video are:
1) Swallowing Gum
2) My patients ticklish?
3) Benadryl for Sleep
4) Libido
5) Headphone pain
6) Hats and Balding
7) Nightshifts and Diet
8) Sweaty Palms
Doctors are traditionally unreachable and I want to change that. So hop into this video’s and any other of my video’s comment section and ask dr mike! I want to see your username pop up on my next responding to comments video.
If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in-depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Medical Drama Review Series in a couple of weeks so please submit more names of shows/episodes you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

Why’s everyone complaining that he’s telling people to go see their doctor? He doesn’t know their medical history and people are asking single sentence questions. If they go to their doctor and ask face to face, then they can get insight that’s better for their problem.

Hey Mike. My aunt Diane was having a heart attack in an elevator and a guy knew CPR and performed it on her until the paramedics arrived, so whenever you talk about doing proper chest compressions, I think about that. She survived but they said if he had not done that, she probably would not have survived. Keep up the good work.

I sometimes get sharp abdominal pains around ovulation or the week before my period. I did have an ultrasound for this reason, and everything was fine. Over the years I've figured out that the pain is caused by muscle tension in my core. The problem goes away with careful stretching after exercising during these stages of my cycle.

Little warning about being a ticklish patient: you absolutely can have a serious condition and still be extremely tickling. I had an ovarian cyst the size of a softball to rupture and when the ER docs kept pressing on my belly, I would break into laughs. They thought nothing serious was wrong with me since I was squirming and laughing so much... until they did a scan and saw just how much fluid had filled my lower abdomen. Thing is, I was also at a pain level of 10 (literally the worst pain of my life, and I have fibromyalgia so I KNOW PAIN) and I had even passed out from the agony earlier, before my mother called 911. I'm just seriously ticklish, and because I'm constantly in pain, I don't always outwardly show that I'm in pain. (Hiding my fibro pain is second nature, and this makes convincing doctors that I'm suffering a challenge.)

For some hyperhidosis symptoms I would recommend SweatBlock wipes or creams. I also had good luck with Carpe Max. Both can work well on palms and forehead sweat without leaving white residue. But don’t forget to check for other possible causes issues like high blood pressure, hormone levels, thyroid function… in my case I lived with it throughout my late-20s and 30s until many issues were linked to a general anxiety disorder and got a very mild SSRI.

As a certified CPR instructor, I would say even if you dont know exactly how to do it, you cannot do much wrong here, I agree with Dr Mike. The most common mistake people to is that they push to weak *you should push 3 to 5 cm down* and they blow to strongly *imagine you have a candle light in front of you that you blow out* It is a heavy job and requires you to use the whole weight of your body, I could go on and on here but we are trained to do 30/2, meaning 30 chest compressions and 2 mouth to mouth, giving oxygen.

Doctor Mike, first off, you're amazing! We love watching your channel and my 7 year old (or rather, he'll be 7 on the 29th) loves to run around and yell, "peewoop!" Thank you for answering the question about ball caps and balding, but what about hair ties? I have a family member who keeps telling us that we shouldn't put hair ties in our son's hair because it will cause baldness later in life. Help! :)
@jessicagoodson7452
@jessicagoodson7452 2 жыл бұрын
I actually looked this up! If you make a super tight ponytail, regularly, the traction alopecia is a possibility. As well as possible breakage from the elastic. But if you use a soft hair elastic without a metal band in it and don't make the ponytail too tight, it won't do a lot of damage. I'm not qualified medically to answer this, just what I found on google.
@willowtabby4926
@willowtabby4926 Жыл бұрын
Traction alopecia is a thing, and can happen to anyone that constantly wears really tight hair ties, regardless of their gender, due to the constant hard pulling on the roots of the hair. Hair breakage is also common with tight hair ties, possibly due to the amount of stress on the strands. Breakage is often worse with ponytailers that have metal in them, as the hair gets caught in the metal. So, yes, constant use of really tight hair ties _can_ cause baldness and hair loss issues, but it's *not* linked to what's between a person's legs (if he gets male pattern baldness later in life, it'll happen regardless of whether he had really tight hair ties or not), or how else they present themselves. Feel free to let him continue using hair ties, but try to encourage him to not constantly have his hair tied back really tight. Look for metal-free hair ties, and also consider using those coil hair ties that have been around for a few years now. Supposedly scrunchies are also better than "standard" hair ties - possibly something about typically not being as tight, and theoretically spreading the pressure out more - not sure how true that is though. Basically, the same hair care that you'd apply for yourself or a daughter can apply equally to your son. Also, well done on giving him freedom to experiment with his look, even if that experimentation takes him outside of what society considers to be the "gender norms."

my dad had a similar thing happen with windshield glass in his hand after a car accident. they thought they found all the pieces on the x-ray but this one chunk must have been hiding right behind another one because it stayed in there for months until it finally worked its way to the surface and my dad performed his own "surgery" to remove it 😂😂
