To be fair, if you get regular checkups, most of the problems people have really are just minor and nothing of concern. The doctors know what raises a red flag and what doesn't. its still good to tell your doctor what potential problems you have had, but most of them are probably not a big deal. Any of the problems that do sound alarming though, your doctor will take note of and pursue. I tell my doctor things like this all the time and usually he doesn't seem concerned at all. But every once in a while ill mention something and he actually does take note of it and runs some tests. It just depends on the issue. Not everything is concerning and needs additional care. They arent trying to dismiss your concerns, but their experience has just helped them differentiate between what isnt an issue, and what actually can be a problem.
@ron420222 күн бұрын
@@eragon78 No, doctors have a history of ignoring minorities. Just ask them. In my experience, doctors have ignored my family, and we're Mexican. I've been dismissed of my periods that I have said were very painful, and I hated them. My doctor said it was normal and that no girl liked them. Turns out, I am a trans guy, and also I might have pcos (my period problems never went away), so that is fucking awesome. I always felt like my doctor never cared and just wanted me out of the doctor's room. Never taking the time to even understand me or my problems. But I live in the US, so maybe youre not having the same problems in whatever country you live in. The US has shit healthcare and plenty of doctors who just dont care or dont know about the health of minorities. Some days, I wish I were white, I suffer a lot less and Id probably have a better life than the one I have.

So sorry. It took my mom 5 doctors before she found one that was willing to listen. I was even sent away from the ER by a doctor and told that I simply "coughed too hard." In reality I had pneumonia with a fever of 106 and my entire left lung was filled with fluid. To quote the surgeon "my lung looked like a dried up bag of cement." I ultimately had a month long stay at the hospital, needed surgery and a weeks stay at a nursing home. Yep, just coughed too hard (and I had seen two prior doctors before that ER visit.) I have a lot of respect for actual doctors willing to listen and help. I am so glad I got some good help in the second ER (that has a horrible rating) and I got a good doctor who just wanted me to be comfortable so he gave me more painkillers and when he ultimately couldn't fix me sent me to a surgeon who could. Always get a second or third opinion. Seems like a lot of doctors are really just quacks. It's like gambling trying to find a good one.

Type 1 or Insulin-dependent Diabetes Mellitus is not linked to genetic predisposition i.e., non-hereditary. You either develop it as a child or not at all. Type 2 or Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus is, however, something that can be acquired and is linked to genetic predisposition. The difference between Type 1 and Type 2 is that Type 1 is caused by the pancreas producing little to no insulin (as the immune system attacks insulin-producing cells), and Type 2 is colloquially known as insulin resistance where the body needs more insulin to bring glucose (blood sugar) into the cells than can be produced.

@@kiwirooks7299 the concept of "pre-diabetic" literally only exists in the United States. In every other country in the world you're either diabetic or not. But pre-diabetes is a bullshit "diagnosis" mostly used to fearmonger anyone that comes in overweight without the evidence needed for an actual diagnosis. Dad went in for surgery on Tuesday, some cancer in his cheek and in his lymph nodes in his neck? I'm not the most knowledgeable. He was in the hospital from Tuesday to around late day Friday recovering. Our nurses kept letting his IV bag thing run completely dry, and the alarm would go off (right next to his head, btw. I'm sure that didn't feel very good considering he was experiencing a lot of headaches). We'd ask them about it, and it would usually take more than 40 minutes for them to change it out. Honestly, I think 40 minutes is pretty conservative, if I'm being completely honest there was at least one time where it took well over an hour and 15 minutes. They'd come in, say they were going to change it, turn off the alarm, leave to go and get a new bag, then completely forget about it. One time my dad paged the desk because he thought his bandage was bleeding (they took like a 9x5 patch of leg skin to graft in his cheek) and the lady on the microphone said she would send the nurse in, and the nurse didn't arrive for more than I believe a half hour. Thankfully it wasn't actually bleeding. There was something up with it, but could you fucking imagine if he'd been there alone and it WAS bleeding?? Him being groggy, exhausted, and on pain medication?? He also went for more than a day without food. They put in a feeding tube, and told him not to eat before the surgery I think. So he hadn't eaten since like 6 pm on Monday. Surgery was on Tuesday, they put in a feeding tube, but they didn't put it in correctly or something, and they also didn't remove a plastic guiding peice and the tube. The medical staff kept ducking us, blowing it off, flatout forgetting and in one case just straight up refusing to fix the tube even though they doctor (who was called at home) told them to because they weren't comfortable doing it. Apparently there was nobody in that hospital, that hospital able to house well more than 1,000 people, who was able to fix that until early to midday Wednesday when the actual doctor who did the surgery came in. Honestly, there's a lot more and I could elaborate on it if you wanted, but considering how much everything cost I am disgusted by the sheer negligence. I don't care if you understaffed (which i believe, but also there were several times I saw staff, INCLUDING OUR NURSE, just stopping and chatting up each other about mundane shit) When you tell someone you're going to do something, you keep your word. Edit: I hadn't even remembered the video above, what I'm saying is I vibe with this video after being very patent and polite all fucking week and getting completely blown off the entire time.
@LycanFerret12 күн бұрын
I've heard about and experienced so much medical negligence and malpractice that I would never willingly get surgery again in my life. From tubes not being deflated before removal and making people mute to doctors leaving items in patients to improper sewing that causes constant pain for decades, it is just not worth it.

and I understand ur pain and frustration for u loved one. My girlfriend has been fighting for her life in recovery of her heart transplant and shes gets neglected and overworked so much every day. Its so frustrating and infuriating when shes bruises and bleeds so easily and the nurses are suppose to apply ointment or change her bandages and tell us that they will and never ever do and thats just petty stuff. Testing is a whole other issue, I understand that they are doing everything in their power to figure out whats going on at the moment to see if the meds are working and if shes recovering properly but shes gets tested from 8 in the morning all the way to 5 in the afternoon everyday ands its ridiculously tiring and straining on my girlfriend and she can barely even eat because her stomach still has fluid buildup from heart failure. I think if I wasnt there fighting for her and giving her my attention at all times then she would've been dead, even before that since she was still in the hospital for another reason before needing that emergency heart transplant surgery. Please pray for my girlfriend.

Yea i dont trust drs at all anymore..i went once because my heart hurt a bit (my mom went with me and i never go for checkups often) they left me for hours at midnight where there was plenty of staff and barely no patients, i had to go to the restroom so bad i called the button, they picked up once and they said theyd send someone, i waited 10-20 mins, nothing. i called again, the nurse made this really weird animal noise at me then hung up again :/ im not lying either, in the end my mom helped unplug me from the machine stuff and i walked myself to the bathroom. my flatline came on the whole time i was gone and they didn't check on me once, it was also like a ghost town in the halls making it creepy. the only thing nice was the tv, i even heard another guy saying in the room next to me "i cant be here the whole night now" sounding annoyed and exhausted. to top it off, they where dressed like they where going to a slumber party or something with cartoon fuzzy socks and slippers

And the amount of times we went to another doctor and found out it actually was a problem is also alarming. This actually happened to one of my toe nails, and by the time we found the issue, it was too late and had to be removed. So very good animated short.

I stopped going to her after she told my mom that I didn't need therapy, she needed parenting classes (the therapy was for anxiety due to school, not because of my mama). The last few times I've been to the doctor in the past few years were for prescriptions, an MRI because I messed up my knee and subsequent physical therapy appointments. I've not been ignored by my new doctor, thankfully.

I think I've only had one Doctor not care. I'm 21 and quite literally the Doctors keep describing my issues to an 80 year old(not in a rude way, just more in a, they can't believe it way) and they still don't know what's causing my issues, especially since, well, blood tests are all normal. Lol But on the Skin Things, it's not a Primary Doctors thing to know about skin issues, that's for Dermatologists, Doctors who are trained in more than going. "Let's do some Blood Work." or even identifying actual Skin Problems. If i went to my Primary about a weird Mole, he wouldn't be sure and all he could do is send me to a Dermatologist. That's mainly what Primaries do, they listen, sometimes check themselves(if they're actually able to), if they check, doesn't mean they know what they're looking at, they give you meds and/or send you to a Specialist. Unless it's like, super obvious, like the Blood Work Results, they can't do much about it other than send you to someone else and like this showed, many people can't afford a specialist or the meds, so they just go with the Original Guess the Doctor had before they had the Results of their tests. It is strange to me how so many people have had Doctors that don't listen, where are you living to have that? It's really strange to me.

As a healthcare worker, I feel for the doctor. We're all just trying to our best with what we're given. But, yeah, there are 20 other patients in the waiting room, some are 90+, some on hospice, driving 2 hours to get there, and they still have to wait an hour because every time slot is double booked, and everyone wants to have extra time and care. It's a terrible situation, but you can't quit, because that's just that many more people who go without help, longer wait times, shorter appointment. We need more doctors and less CEO's, but the CEO's are making it so nobody wants to be a doctor. But here's letting you know that healthcare workers do care. If they didn't, they wouldn't put up with the bullshit that is the healthcare system.

I had a tear in my vocal chords a few months back, went to my ENT doctor because I was desperate for treatment- and I swear on my life- when he used a camera to check my throat, he pushed the camera into the tear and made it worse. He took a pause, as if thinking about it, aiming and then drove the camera directly into the node. It hurt, stung and burned like a bitch. Once he saw me hurting, he pulled the camera out, avoided eye contact with me, turned away from me while speaking, nervously looked at me with my file in his hand and ran out the door to finish up the appointment. I didn’t say anything the entire time but looked completely shocked by his action. While checking out, I was hazed by the doctor and two additional nurses, that didn’t have anything to do with my appointment, for not having insurance. This was at St. Joseph’s hospital.

@Dgeaurhedaikn23 күн бұрын
It’s not their fault. It’s useful to have doctors with a wide basic knowledge across the entire medical field as well as having doctors who specialise in one field. The real problem is making it so expensive and time consuming to see a GP only to then just be referred to a specialist. If only we spent a fraction of the war budget on making healthcare free and accessible then we’d all be better for it.

@@16m49x3 Ideally it would be "free" so that health isn't a luxury item, but since that's not possible the next best thing is covering it by taxes to shift the financial burden away from people in poverty. Most people get more value from their taxes than the money they put in, even after factoring in the parts that aren't used by everyone like education or welfare, because most tax dollars comes from the wealthy. Almost half of the total tax revenue comes from the top 1% of earners. If we eliminated income tax for the bottom 50% of earners, it would result in less than 3% drop in total tax revenue (why are we even taxing the poor at this point?). Insurance on the other hand charges everyone equally, which means the lower income masses end up paying most of the upper class's medical bills at great expense to their meager wallets. It's basically an anti-charity. And this is just one piece, don't even get me started on the actual prices and how much of that money goes into the pockets of middle men and their corporations, or on the price gouging of life saving medications. The general public is practically a cash farm for the healthcare industry. Even if you don't like the idea of a tax-funded healthcare system, it would be astronomically better for 95% of the population and a small inconvenience for the other 5%, and would be a good change even if used as a temporary transition to whatever system you would support.
