Regarding ecfmg certification or gmc registration, would you have any idea regarding different names on my passport and on my primary medical qualification. My surnames are different in both because I had it changed on the passport after my marriage. Would that be a problem anywhere?

Apologies but this is something you should consult the official body for. Its beyond us to advise on these things ..

Hey! You are doing amazing work. I have a bit of a situation at hand atm; I am on a Tier 2 visa working with a Bristol based Tech company, whilst my wife is an MS ENT doing her SRship with the same hospital. We are confused what pathway to choose, 1.MRCS -> GMC-> Applying directly for NHS registrar jobs (or SHO? Is it possible to get registrarship directly?) 2. Mch in Otorhinolaryngology at Edge hill and completing MRCS (I am hoping for her to atleast get the Part A done before the course starts) concurrently. Also, can the process of reaching the ST-7/8 (Consultant) be expedited? Or mandatory 5-6 Years of surgical medical training needs to be done before writing the FRCS exam? Thanks a ton for all the information 😊

Both options have pros and cons.. first option takes time and saves money. The second costs dearly along with other finer points to be considered. Very very unlikely for the training process to be expedited regardless of past experience.

I’ve got my GMC registration recently but my wife needs 5-6 months more to get it done... shall I look forward to moving to UK now itself before her or plan to come together? Also tips for finding workplace for both of us so that we get to stay together..

That decision depends on your personal preference. The earlier you apply, it gives you more time to sort out logistics. You can always discuss your circumstance with employing trust HR. It is tough to find jobs in closer distance for couples but not impossible. Most difficult is entering the system, once you get a job you can always switch to you desired destination when you look for further jobs.

As it is said in the video, the dependent if a doctor, can work in non training jobs. So does that mean they too get a gmc registration?
@sowmiya5886

They are work permitted in non training jobs. GMC registration is not related to visa status. They need to sort it out themselves through one of routes mentioned on GMC website.

I had a question about stay during quarantine period. Is it mandatory to stay in a hotel or can I stay in the shared single hospital accommodation provided ?
@sowmiya5886
@sowmiya5886 3 жыл бұрын
It depends which country you are coming from or transiting from. If you are from a red listed country ( please check gov.uk website about this coz it changes dynamically every week), you will have to quarantine at government designated hotels at a cost of around 1700£ I think ( again check gov.uk website). If you are not from a red list country or transiting through one, then you can go to your desired accommodation and quarantine but ensure to do pre booked covid tests on day 2 and day 8. About shared accommodation, it will be ideal to discuss it with your letting agent and person you are sharing it with if they are ok since you will have to be in quarantine.

Hi. Depends on where you fly in from, UK gov website maintains "red list" of countries. if you fly in from any of those, institutional quarantine is mandatory in a hotel. If not, then you can home quarantine. the list is dynamic and can change at any time, so it is important to keep an eye on it until your flight to stay updated. All the detailed info is available on uk gov website. I hope this helps
