It has been quite a journey. The solution is simple. You buy a $500 scanner and delete the speed limiter. You can’t turn a demon. You set your 200 mph bucket list then sell it. At least you could have road coursed the Z06. Plus it won’t get stolen at the Winn Dixie.

Only 4mph to go for 185hp is achieved so easy. I knew it. I won't buy almost 300k for Demon 170. I'll buy Demon 840hp and tune to 1025hp and go top speed with daytona body kitnis smarter thing to do! IMHO if you are planning to drive any car above 130 or so mph you had better first go over the entire car. From plastic pieces falling off after a bad bump to blowing up the motor because of oil starvation while revving it out or suspension being wrong for the increased downforce or lift depending. Don’t ever trust the manufacturer to save you at those speeds!

The tire that come in the car will tell you speed rating. The alphabet at the end will tell that. They must match the tire with the top speed.

I'd stick to Corvettes for Texas Mile stuff. It's relatively easy to get 1k hp+ and they are light and aerodynamic. Already having the Demon 170, you could try aftermarket removing the limiter, change to Toyo R888R or other high speed tires and see how it goes. Work up in steps, first 180, see how it feels, vibrations, etc. Then try 190 in the mile, if that is good, floor it. Hopefully I'll be there at the TX mile with you. Running a 1,100 hp C6 Grand Sport. Hopefully, all goes well for both of us.

Same as the original Demon which is also limited, the hood scoop is the same and at high speeds makes the front end lift. My 2019 narrow body Redeye has no limiter. Glad I didn't waste the money on the 170. I put in the stage 3 kit and it makes 887hp on 100 octane. Love the car.

The dang driveshaft could come through the floor and kill everyone in the car. There's also other features of the car not designed for those speeds. If it was just the tires, it would be no issue but to switch them out; but it's way more than just that.

The speed governor is likely because of the NHRA rules that require a chute on cars 150 mph and greater. But I think a chute is an option you could get, so perhaps if you checked this box, then the speed limiter could be removed by Dodge. Who knows??

I've had my humble Scatpack 166 on radar and it was pulling hard but ran out of room. I think the 170 with it's drag tires is limited because the tires aren't rated for high speed remember this is a strictly drag purposed car.

I without a doubt guarantee the 170 can do 215 but dodge did what they did to protect themselves but at the same time pointing said gun at themselves with there claims. With the set up 149 is we’re they had to cut it off 1/4 based even tho it won’t see near 200 in a 1/4. Just get it the governor dealt with and run it since that’s what you bought it for even tho it wasn’t built for it. I bet it does it but if things go pear shaped it’s not there problem. The second anyone which I bet many will remove the limiter that’s when it becomes there issue is things go south. Dodge did mess up by saying 215 then changing things at the last minute and I guarantee they did it to help sell the car. Each to there own go see what it will do without the governor get your 200 and Godspeed my friend.

It’s limited at 165 mph before the factory upgraded ecu that gives the extra 32 horsepower to bring it to 840 horsepower it will then go faster then 165 mph if you ordered it with the tool box crate at that point. However I would suggest changing the hardened drive shaft in the 170 for a lighter all aluminum or even titanium one custom made would help solve your problem, then you can change the speed perimeters of the vehicle for sure no issues the rear end can handle it no problem since it’s built stronger then the predecessor models. I also want to mention that the pre production demon that you saw them run that car in Las Vegas can do 215 MPH plus they changes the drive shaft for sure on that one.

I just watched a video of the 2024 Mustang GT with headers and get a warrantied Whipple kit from Ford it put down 807rwhp at only 12psi on pump gas. 920 at the crank. The Demon 170 on pump gas is 900hp and is at 21.5psi to achieve it. I think it was lethal performance that tested the Mustang kit. They were excited about going high 8's in the car. With the 170 your going to have to empty out the interior and run race gas to compete. Nah

Yes, just a flat out lie by Dodge. You can likely dump the car now and not take a big loss if you paid a small ADM. I have a 2022 NBRE. Did not want to pay for the name JB nor the same engine that is rated at 797 or 807 depending on the RPM where the HP is measured. Anyway, it is supposed to be 203 MPH and the ECU shuts it down there. For WB 797 or 807 I am reading the same top speed with wind resistance being the limiter. Not sure how all that plays out in a mile pull however. Past 100 MPH the car starts pulling power by dumping fuel as the A/F will drop down to around 9.5. Folks that have data logged cars have seen timing and boost pulled as well depending on air quality. That's why these 807 HP cars only trap 128-129 MPH while earlier models with only 717 HP trap 130 MPH (or better). The issue on the late models is referred to as COT and it can be fixed with a tune which does void the warranty. So a much smaller issue than the Demon with both a driveshaft issue, ECU tune, and the dreaded loss of warranty on such an expensive car. Good luck with whatever direction you go.

Hey thanks for all the info. I'm going to check out that COT thing. We took the car out last Sunday and did a 0-100 pull and my friend who was trying to race me in my other 707hp Hellcat said blackish blue smoke was coming out of the tailpipes. So I think the bigger injectors for E85 are running really rich in the 900hp Super Unleaded mode I am in at least. Make me wonder if the 149mph limiter could be due to emissions as well.

They were built to drag race 🏁 they can unlock 🔑 the limiter. You can only go so fast until you break it in. Once 500 miles hit you can really stomp on it. For insurance purposes they put a limiter on. You can cage that driveline and remove the limiter. You can change it to fit your needs. The motors were blowing cause of too much boost. They dialed it down. You can build it to go faster. Just talk to a fabricator. You wanna go over 200 mph. It's not a problem.

The limiter will not cut the cars momentum after it reaches 149mph. The engine will stop pulling but the car is still accelerating as it passes the quarter mile. He mentioned this in the video as to why it reaches 151mph as it crosses the 1/4 mile.

If I were you I’d sell the demon 170 get you a redeye or regular hellcat and sell the engine from that and purchase the c170 crate engine fkr 28k which is the same engine used in the demon 170. Then get a 1 piece drive shaft . Differential brace and anything else u may need to keep the driveline from blowing to pieces and boom u have a 170 and u can go faster then bs 149😂
