Why do OEM's lock ECU's if all it takes is to have HPT to open it up and modify? It just slows the process

They want to make it harder for the people to tune their cars bc it can case a lot of headache for them and don’t forget that you want 6/7 credits to tune most of the new cars.

Helps prevent people bringing in tuned cars under warranty for repairs. You can't simply just put the stock tune back anymore, they'll know the pcm was messed with

Ummmmmm so my 2003 Dodge Ram 5.7 doesn't exist??? You're off by a whole ass year, the gen iii hemi started in 2003, not 2004.... there were not many made in 2003, but I know they exist because I bought one in March 2003 and still own it!

Prior to 2004 all Ram trucks and most Jeeps used the JTEC engine controller. I'm not sure but it could be that HP Tuners does not offer tuning for that controller. I do know that in the Ram forums there's a lot of post discussing upgrading to a 2005 PCM to gain tunability.
