Dodge hemi P1417 how to diagnose a bad lifter with MDS system PART #2

Question. Have a 06 5.7, it's fine when cold but when you drive it and it's warmed up and only when your at a stop you can feel it misfire and almost hear it. Truck shakes pretty good. After 200 miles of no codes I finally get a 1416 and 0306. Pending. I've changed plugs, swapped coil pack and injector with 4, with no sucess. The thing that throws me off is it does it when it's warm only. Any ideas? Appreciate it.

My 2020 ram started running rough a couple times. I towed it to the dealer and they gave me the old cant reproduce problem. 48 hr later it does it again. I think its a similar issue on #6. But im under warranty so I dont think i can work on it. Without voiding said useless warranty's. Have you seen a pcm or wiring cause this issue. I looked up the testing and it goes directly to the pcm.

@@garrysrepairandcustomspeed7583 They changed my oil. And then all of a sudden missfire on # 6 only within the first 2 miles. After a restart or parking for a bit it goes away again. I think im going to change the oil. I used mobile 1 every 5500 miles. They used who knows what oil from mopar.

@@garrysrepairandcustomspeed7583 can oil cause a cold missfire. Normally i would say no but it runs 0-40. And thats expensive. If they cheated me on oil and caused a missfire that would be a new record. And a lawsuit

@@garrysrepairandcustomspeed7583 no sludge. It has 24k on it. Synthetic oil every 5000 miles or so. I will follow up if it helps

I'm willing to bet the cam is chewed up. The only way is if he pulls that lifter and its stuck in between being activated and deactivated. If theres anything wrong with that roller, the cam has been damaged. Hopefully the lifter was just stuck.

I have a question. Just replaced the lifters on my 5.7 hemi ram. Mechanic said the cam didn’t need to be replaced. Was getting cylinder 5 misfire. After truck was driving great for about 5 days. Now I have cylinder 7 misfire and p1417. Mechanic said it’s probably pcm. It can’t be a stuck lifter can it? They’re all brand new. Also repaired the exhaust leaks all new studs on both sides. Spark plugs are new and coils new. I did them in the summer.

MDS solenoids did have metal shavings stuck to them. I have another questions. He told me that when they looked at the cam it was good. That it had very minimal slight scoring. It wasn’t bored out how you usually see. Could the f act that it’s not perfect be causing the #5 misfire? He told me if it needed to be changed he would have done it. He said if it his was his truck he wouldn’t have changed it. Also would the fact that the came lobe not being 100% with miniimal scoring have to potential to damage its corresponding lifter? I almost have this truck back to where it’s supposed to be. I’m so close. lol. I’m pulling my hair out and I don’t have any hair lol. I appreciate your responses. 🙏

I changed my cam , lifters , OEM MDS solenoids , coil packs , plugs , o2 sensors , and crankshaft position sensor (07 Dodge Ram 5.7). Truck ran great for 1000 miles, now it’s throwing a p1411 and p1417 code and damn near throws me out of the car it shudders so bad. However , If I press the tow haul button it runs fine. I’m at a loss , it just came out of the blue. Same thing that was happening before I installed all the new parts. Could it really be the lifters? They only have a 1000 miles on them!!

Did you or how can you eliminate that you don't need a new cam too? Other than pulling out the Cam, can you check the cam visually once you remove the lifter pack to make sure the lobes aren't damaged?
