This is by far the best video about mechanics I've ever come across this guy is blessed naturally with knowledge of mechanics for sure and the presentation it took what 8 minutes for him to get his point across loved it subscribed wish she was in my life it's nice to have a mechanic like that in your life

I love your channel they are not much of us diagnosticians, in the shops I'm working for myself now because in every shop I have been to they are always other mechanics there that are jealous and take your skills as a threat and always want to make you look bad or that you don't know what you are doing since I work for myself I haven't had any problems diagnosing customers vehicles and they all come back

Hi, I have the same type of car, I replaced all the coils, worked good, but today I got a misfire again.
@spelunkerd5 жыл бұрын
Scannerdanner has shown a few of these, and he surprised me with a comment that I didn't expect from him. Paul made the remark that one should routinely replace the plug and wires, in case the bad coil/boot happened as a consequence of extra heat (and spiking voltage) from a partial open in the downstream secondary. He's not normally a guy who advocates replacing normal parts, Paul made a name for himself by calling out the parts changers of the world. I guess it comes down to an inability to reliably detect a defect in the secondary that might have caused the coil to fail. What do you think?

You may want to check the spark plug gap, it can stress the coil with a increased gap. I think the plugs on this engine have a 30k interval
@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm planning on changing them this week. Thanks for watching!
@GearheadSchool5 жыл бұрын
Yep. Wide spark plug gaps will increase the required secondary voltage which can blow through the insulation to get to the ground. I was in the Honda biz for a long time and this was a common problem. The models with distributors were bad about wide plug gaps causing high required voltages to blow through the ignition rotor button to the distributor shaft.

Always scares my to swap coils when the drivers are in the module, I’ve seen modules get fried for doing that. Great video tho man good job.... jay
@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO5 жыл бұрын
Good point. Thanks
@d.d41845 жыл бұрын
Good point but if that's the case the ecu already has a fried driver for number 6 cylinder so it's getting repaired or replaced anyway. Just my opinion.
@weldingjunkie5 жыл бұрын
Auto Tec just to clarify if you play swap trolnics and the ecu is not fried and it’s a bad coil that didn’t fry it then you swap it then it fried if that makes sense, that’s more of what I meant
@robhughes85163 жыл бұрын
@@weldingjunkie the chances of this actually happening are so incredibly slim that it’s really not even a consideration.
@weldingjunkie3 жыл бұрын
@@robhughes8516 not with smart coils it happens quite a bit or issue rectified itself my moving stuff. You must not be a tech obviously. This is what part changers do btw.

Years a go when I was dating my now wife she stopped by because her car was barely running. Two of the coil on plugs were cracked and burnt. Wrapped them with the thick rubber insulating tape then electric tape. Two years latter she was using my garage to do a tune up when I noticed she never replaced them. The tape still worked.
