Vin's voice was home. Hearing Vin's voice meant I was safe, everything was ok for the next ~3 hours. Vin was there to tell us a story and talk about Dodger baseball with me. There's a reason everyone in my house calls him Papa Vin. We miss you Vin, always and forever. We'll always need you.

I really fell in love with the Dodgers when my family didn’t have cable tv and I had to listen to the games on the radio hearing Vin. His comforting voice and stories along with painting the game gave me solace, will truly never see anyone like him again.

I will be honest. I have not in my 43 years cried so much for someone’s passing. Vin and Dodger baseball go hand in hand. Having arrived here as an 8 year old from Guatemala, I had never heard or knew about baseball. Little by little I got familiar with the game. I would listen to dodger pregame talk 2 hours before the game, the game itself then dodger talk after the game. I fell in love with baseball thanks to Vin. Along the way, I credit him with helping me learn English and expand my vocabulary. His stories were timeless and for the duration of the game, we would be transported back in history. He was a wonderful story teller. His soothing voice kept me glued to the radio since 1991. To this day, I still rather listen to a game than watch it. Rip my friend Vin

Jaime Jarrin also credits Vin for teaching him the game of baseball and english. It is crazy that Jaime didn't travel with the team and would have to use Vin's broadcast to find out what had happened in a studio. Now, Jaime is a legend in his own right and a Hall of Famer as well. We Dodgers fans have been spoiled. RIP Vin.

As a child of the 60's/70's, I grew up with a transistor radio to my ear, "watching" Vin call every pitch. Yes, watching. His words brought the game to life in my mind, and it was magic. I value that more than any 75" 4K broadcast of a game on TV today. I had a small AM radio halfway tucked under my pillow, listening to Vin call the last out of Bill Singer's no-hitter, or maybe Steve Garvey hitting one out. Wouldn't trade that part of my childhood for gold. RIP, Vin, and thank you.

I moved to LA in 2000 and I absolutely credit Vin Scully for turning me into a Dodgers fan. Back when you could watch all the games on KCAL or FOX and then on cable before you couldn’t lol his attention to detail, his random facts and musings, and of course that voice. I tuned in to every game just to listen to Vin as much as I did to watch a ball game. I could have sat for hours listening to Vin read names out of a phone book. Thanks Mr. Scully

Not enough can be said about Vin 💙 I can't say how much it meant to hear the news from Joe Davis. Vin is simply irreplaceable, but if there was ever anyone more fit to carry on Vin's spirit and legacy... I cannot think of anyone more perfect. Vin lives on in Joe 😭 Thank you so much, Joe and keep sharing the stories you have about Vin.

I feel like it is because Joe is aware of and isn't jealous of Vin's legacy and what that means if he is going to broadcast Dodgers baseball. I feel like Joe's attitude is that it is forever Vin's chair, he is just keeping it warm for a while. As such he doesn't want to let down Vin. They both share that rarest trait in media people, humility.
I had to stop, I got tears and goosebumps. My daughter summoned it up when she said " I feel like I lost a family member".

Back when the local TV channel carried Dodger games, I would watch the game on the TV but I'd turn down the volume in the 4th to 6th innings and turn on the radio because that's when he swaps places to the radio with the other guy in the booth, usually Ross Porter at the time. No offense to Ross and Rick Monday, but Vin was uniquely amazing.

First time watching the Dodgers as a child...and I instantly became enamored by Vin's voice. I understood nothing, as I was still learning English at the time, but my god, his soothing announcing had me hooked on the game instantly, and I was honestly disappointed when he'd take the mid-innings off and hand them over to Don Drysdale. Even as a child, I could sense that, while Don was great, Vin was on another level. It'll never be the same without Vin in the booth.

As we grow older from childhood and enter into our teenage years and then into adult life there are people, places, things, and events that go onto pages and these pages complete “Our Book Of Life”. When something like the loss of a TRULY great man that was a part of all aspects of our lives as mentioned above, a page is lost and the book is no longer complete. I hope everyone here treasures their favorite moment with Mr Scully and let that give you peace and comfort.
