I love these videos. I enjoyed the family trip series as well. But these "simple" ones are my favorite. I wonder what your life was like before you "cast off" to have a life. You two continue to inspire. Thank you for lifting my day!

Thanks Bruce. We both lived fairly modestly before sailing but now we enjoy how being on a small boat puts a limit on what we can own and makes us get the most from what we have.

Hello Free Range Sailing Crew. That Sunset looks like a picture taken with a specialized Filter, the colors and shading are just magical looking. I don't believe I've ever seen such a magnificent Sunset in that hue of colors, just lovely. Wow, that Irish tune really made the video pop, I could listen to that type of music for days. Thanks for the wonderful cruise, love y'all.

That is a ton of mangos. :) Watching the wine glass trick made me cringe though. If the glass wasn't thick enough or the force angle shifted and it shattered, you would be in a world of trouble at sea - or anywhere for that matter.

As you can hear the "glass" is made of acryl, listen to it when Troy puts it back on the table... ;-)

Another great episode, looking forward to plenty of mango recipes Pascal.......I would like to suggest that if people are worried about shattering wine glasses, I do a similar technique but use a metal dessert spoon or a slotted spoon. It is also good practice to manage the mango sap, this can be 'caustic' some people react very badly to it, so if you are intending to process a lot of mango maybe gloves or at least wash hands regularly. Collecting all fallen fruit is also a good idea as leaving it under the trees encourages pests like fruit fly and other undesirables.

Another excellent video, thanks for all you do. I have a real noob question for you about sails. It seems that your headsail provides much of your power. Could the mainsail-boom arrangement be replaced with another roller-furler behind the mast say if your boom broke? It seems that the boom prevents the mainsail from attaining the nice airfoil shape that the headsail gets, and that is where the power comes from (I think???). I guess I'm wondering why use a boom at all? Thanks for any explanation you may have. I have learned tons from you both, and I look forward to many more videos.
@FreeRangeLiving5 жыл бұрын
The main still gets an aerofoil shape by altering the outhaul tension. The magic happens not from absolute sail drive but the interaction of both sails to shape air flow over both. A furler running after off a single mast would have a sail running backward and be impossible to shape.

I'd be sure to have an accident that required surgery if I tried that mango trick. A trip to A&E at the very least lol. What are the "bullets" you were talking about? I've never heard that one before. This vid reminds me of the time I was taking a brisk morning walk in Tweed Heads and walked under a mango tree that had a rock hard green one hanging low enough to score a direct hit on my forehead. You reckon that didn't tickle. cheers.
@steviebee19895 жыл бұрын
Victor Bitter The “bullet” to which Pascale is referring are the sudden gusts of strong wind coming off the hills on the islands. I reckon it would be safe to use a thick glass, I would be wary with the really thin walled glasses I use at home. I have a really thick walled set for the off-road van to help avoid breakage and I think the one Troy had looked pretty sturdy.
